For what it's worth, Pop Sci has put their archives up online. About a hundred year's worth of vintage awesome, through Google Books.

Popular Mechanics has archives there too.

One of my favorites is old aircraft.
    Model of a barrel aircraft.

Also, in an old copy of Popular Mechanics the Stipa Caproni Flying Barrel. A real flying barrel.

Wonder how geeky that supersonic canard on the cover of Pop Sci will look in an archive?
