That was really, really fun. Thanks Ookpik! The fact that I got almost all of them without having to look anything up is probably more a testament to my acquired years rather than to any acquired knowledge, unfortunately.
I agree with all the kudos. I couldn't Feature this fast enough. Yeah, sure, some of those old movies might be tough for some, but, man, almost every clue is FUN! And fun LOOKING, too.
I really enjoyed this one...even if I had to look up almost all of them...but...I am completely stumped on #5...I know who he is, but am not getting anything from that...any help available?
I'm stumped on number 4 - I have an answer that fits, but I think my onomatopoeia doesn't seem to be spelled right to fit. It's either that, or me being frustrated by multiple answers which fit for #6 (that one really needs a crossing word on the first or fourth letter!)
Ookpik - You have a sick and demented mind... And I'm very glad to have partaken of the fruits of said demented labors! It wasn't until #9 that I *really* groaned but hey, the beauty of a pun is in the OY of the beholder...
#5 is probably the only film in there that isn't really a "classic" but it is actually the first one that popped into my head when I came up with the idea for the puzzle. Google "Al Gore movie" if you are truly stuck.
This was very entertaining and I only had to look up a couple. Got stuck on 9 - thanks for all the clues like the first word and the "u". Somehow I missed the costumes - very key! DOH!
Too many movies I just have no clue on. The ones I got were cute. I don't like having to look up every clue, but that's a fault of ME, NOT the puzzle. Quite clever...
Loved it! I knew all the movies but two, thanks to my mom who watched all these old movies when I was a kid. Great fun.
[60] #4 was the toughest. [50] has the best clue (the swindled one). Also, NBC Nightly News has a recurring segment about how we're getting cheated out of money called "The _____ing of America".
For those coming to this puzzle from the sequel, the clues have been renumbered since this puzzle was originally posted. Here is a mapping from the old numbers to the new numbers so you can make sense of the above comments. e.g. [7] now applies to clue #6
Frustrating.....sure I have them all but it won't take....maybe an alternative spelling? I so wish that the answers were obtainable on these old hypers.
NM....the ape needed to be switched around.
AWESOMELY, WICKEDLY HILARIOUS!
aarrgh. I have them, but it's not taking.
got all but #5. Any salt out there?
No idea what 10 is! Help!
never mind, my mom recognized the actress, and we got it from there.
Ha!
wow, these are really bad! :-)
Perihelion: Try an alternate spelling for #9.
(WARNING: SALT AHEAD)
[3] The man in the picture, I believe, is Al Gore.
salt on 3?
[2] Same here.
[7] Thanks... that did it.
[9] The original quote said "boat" instead of "courtroom."
[2][7] Yes, spell it the way they did in Narnia.
Wow, some are hard if you don't know old movies. comepletley stumped on 10.
[2] [10] Send me your answers and I'll verify them. I should be on for the next 15 minutes or more.
Thanks soccer_ref on the "narnia" comment, that was my mistake
[8] thanks. That's all I needed.
also, thanks to [7]. I spelled it with a W, not a U. (and that is only salt if you already know the answer!)
[13] not an Asian Empress
Any salt on #2 and #11?
[17] #2: Look in Thailand.
#11: I'm really tired.
(note: salt is for the pre-pun answer)
[17] That is Bogart and Bacall
[17] in #11
[18], [19] Thanks! That did it!
#11 is a Bogie flick.
#2 You need to know the hero name of the ever-lovin' orange guy.
struggling with 9 and 10. Anyone want to salt me?
Any salt on #6?
Tons of fun! Thanks for several hearty laughs!
[23] for #10, see my [16]
for #9, think of where my lost kite went.
[24] The gorilla would prefer to be on the empire state building.
again, all salt is for the pre-pun answer.
[26] Thanks for that but I knew the movie just can't figure out the answer
who are the people in #10?
[27] Oh- for #9 the pun is on the first word, for #10 on the last.
I don't know the people in #10, I just recognized the picture from other puzzles that used it. Sorry I can't help there.
Stuck on # 2, help?
[29] AHA for #9 thanks! Ummmm still nothing for #10 I have no idea what the original is for 10
[30] It was a musical and in the original the male lead was royalty and she referred to herself in first petson
i got 10 because I recognized the actress from on golden pond and then did some research
Ok, that was really fun. I enjoyed the chuckles. (and groans) ; )
[32] Thanks, that was my last one
[33] THANK YOU SO MUCH! I couldn't think of who that woman was but it was in my head somewhere!
She shoots she scores! Thanks everyone for the help.
[28] Coincidently, the same actor is pictured in clues #10 and #11.
#4 or #7
I don't know which is wrong so any salt on either?
That was really, really fun. Thanks Ookpik! The fact that I got almost all of them without having to look anything up is probably more a testament to my acquired years rather than to any acquired knowledge, unfortunately.
Pure genius. Best thing I've seen on Tanga in a while.
Really fun! :-)
This must have been a lot of work! The (gr)apes are awesome.
What a puzzle should be ... this belongs in the THCHOF ... if there were such a thing.
[45] this is based on a very thick book written by Leo.
Very good!
[39] I'm in the same boat - I know the movies, just can't seem to convert them for the puzzle.
[46] Isn't that #4?
I'm stumped on number 4 - I have an answer that fits, but I think my onomatopoeia doesn't seem to be spelled right to fit. It's either that, or me being frustrated by multiple answers which fit for #6 (that one really needs a crossing word on the first or fourth letter!)
[49] Think of what Dolly's wardrobe is made of or what happens if you get swindled out of some money.
[50] Thank you. Totally feels like a "Duh!" moment now that I have it!
Ookpik - You have a sick and demented mind... And I'm very glad to have partaken of the fruits of said demented labors! It wasn't until #9 that I *really* groaned but hey, the beauty of a pun is in the OY of the beholder...
i need help on 5 theres not many letters to help.
Glad that most people seem to have enjoyed this! It was really fun to make, too!
#5 is probably the only film in there that isn't really a "classic" but it is actually the first one that popped into my head when I came up with the idea for the puzzle. Google "Al Gore movie" if you are truly stuck.
Ookpik must like Bruce Willis and Humphrey Bogart - they have two movies in the puzzle.
[7]Thanks for the hint there. I was getting really frustrated!
#6 would be better if it were reversed...
Fun Fun Fun Puzzle!
Fantastic! This was quick and fun...finally a use for movie trivia...
any salt on #4? I know the movie's real title, but everything i try to make it fit what i think it is isnt working.

[60] #4 was the toughest. [50] has the best clue (the swindled one). Also, NBC Nightly News has a recurring segment about how we're getting cheated out of money called "The _____ing of America".
Very fun, 11 was my only problem one. But easy to look up, at least for me.
Still not getting #4... I know what the movie is but I'm not getting the sheep/wool part.
Fantastic puzzle! Loved every minute of it!
I'm still stuck on 9 despite all the salt. I got the others without problem. I even get the pun in 9 but don't know the last word. ugh.
That was a great puzzle! #11 is one of my favorites, but clue #8 make me laugh out loud.
[12] Thanks! I never knew there was an alternate spelling.
[65] Think "Mary had a little lamb."
Ok I have them all now, but why isn't it accepting them?
[69] I found I had reversed #6 ... (after carefully re-entering all of them three times)
For those coming to this puzzle from the sequel, the clues have been renumbered since this puzzle was originally posted. Here is a mapping from the old numbers to the new numbers so you can make sense of the above comments. e.g. [7] now applies to clue #6
2 -> 1
3 -> 12
4 -> 8
5 ->4
6 -> 9
9 -> 6
10 -> 5
11 -> 3
Yes the spelling anomaly they are speaking of is now in clue #6
Don't think I've ever heard of 5 before. Wasn't really familiar with 3 either.
Crap... I came here from the second one that I loved so much, only to find that I had already done this. *pout*
Frustrating.....sure I have them all but it won't take....maybe an alternative spelling? I so wish that the answers were obtainable on these old hypers.
NM....the ape needed to be switched around.
