  5. AssetsEggGamesX4 on Nov 04, 2009 07:09 PM

I am stuck on 3....never mind, got it

  6. AssetsCornPhilana on Nov 04, 2009 07:13 PM

    Fun one!

  7. AssetsPeppercomishcraig on Nov 04, 2009 07:21 PM

I think I have them all but #3. Any help?

  8. AssetsAppleNo1Sciguy on Nov 04, 2009 07:22 PM

Nice one. Three took me minute or two to add up to an answer also.

  9. AssetsCheeseburgerscoutmom on Nov 04, 2009 07:22 PM

[7] For you, and two of your closest friends...

  10. AssetsAppleBayes on Nov 04, 2009 07:25 PM

Whoops I had number two spelled wrong. Think learning, not architecture.

If you are stuck on #11, the clue is what a lot of people do after this!

  11. Avatar_profileBananablakeapeterso on Nov 04, 2009 07:44 PM

I solved the puzzle but still do not understand why #3 is what it is. Anyone mind letting me in on the logic behind it?

  12. AssetsPancakesbrupop on Nov 04, 2009 07:48 PM

[11] It's all Greek to me.

  13. Avatar_profileBananaswmabie on Nov 04, 2009 07:59 PM

[11] One of the common uses of Greek symbols is in mathematics.

  14. AssetsTomatodduensing on Nov 04, 2009 08:20 PM

[11] [12] It's a pet-peeve of mine as well. Tanga puzzle authors apparently aren't math majors.

The symbol is SIGMA. However, this puzzle wants what it --does-- not it's name.
This same faulty logic would show a down arrow and have the answer as "lower".

A better clue might be a long addition problem, with the answer shown as question marks.

I have problems with 10 and 11, but got them via trial and error..

  16. AssetsCarrotsnugu on Nov 04, 2009 08:48 PM

#2 was a big phonetic stretch. That one took me a long time.

    Still stuck on #11 though...

edit: it turns out that the letters I filled in as a joke while doing this were right, but I have removed them before getting all the other solutions.

  17. AssetsOnionzyrilia on Nov 04, 2009 10:44 PM

    #1 is killing me.

  18. AssetsAceCiabelle on Nov 04, 2009 11:11 PM

    [17] "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. . ."

  19. AssetsPancakesLakeLivin on Nov 05, 2009 07:53 AM

Is #11 a big stretch, or am I missing something obvious?

  20. AssetsBananatrenticus on Nov 05, 2009 08:32 AM

[18] If you're having trouble with #1, it's not Darwin. Try switching the words. At first I had Darwin and thought I was being really clever...until I realized I was wrong.

[19] just type what you get when you put the words together. It's a common term in jacks I believe. You may just have it spelled wrong.

  21. AssetsDuckiecrashbaptiste on Nov 05, 2009 08:49 AM

[19] Google Hobbit and the number part of the word.

  22. AssetsGarlicWastinAwayAgain on Nov 05, 2009 08:59 AM

[19] I struggled with #11 for awhile then I started plugging letters in until something worked.

    Think Hobbit meals

[14] Just to clarify, I wasn't peeving at all; just providing a salty response to the request in [11].
I liked the use of the symbol and think they work well in puzzles.

  24. AssetsTomatoMurdoctor on Nov 05, 2009 10:46 AM

[14][23] I think referring to its function is just as valid as referring to the symbol's name. It is a puzzle, after all.

[14] Oh, and I am a math major... and have used that clue in that way in a couple of puzzles before. :)

  25. AssetsEggWhiteKnight85 on Nov 05, 2009 10:51 AM

I had all the words and it wouldn't take.

I was certain that I had them all right after triple checking. And it wouldn't take.

I checked the spelling of each of my words. Twice. And it wouldn't take.

Then I noticed that my #5 started with "F-O-U-R".

    Oops.

  26. AssetsPancakesLakeLivin on Nov 05, 2009 12:43 PM

Thanks [20], never heard of that term before, and even if I had I'd have needed an extra letter to spell it the way I thought it should be spelled (with an "i").
