There may be more, but the archives cannot be checked. All the early hypercrosses in the archives show Renfurdson as the author and the same pig picture.
Got it after a great deal of research. Off the top of my head, I only knew the long across.
Since this puzzle topic won't go away ... can anyone recommend a good go-to site that lists classic arcade games? For this puzzle, in the end, I had to scroll through the complete wikipedia list of arcade games, checking those that might fit. Very tedious. I'm looking for a shorter list of just the popular games, preferably with pictures. :)
[8] They're .png images, which not everybody can see as Hypercross clues. Hypercross composers were warned not to use .png images, but obviously some people missed or ignored the message. And evidently the Tanga folks that select the puzzles don't even bother to check.
I've got something wrong. I get the feeling it's number 3 after looking more closely, but I cant find anything that fits besides my original guess (which I made without opening the tiny image).
Post TG:
Arrrrrgh! Thanks so much Philana! :) I cant believe I didnt get that one, having probably played that one more than others. Moral of the story, always open the tiny images if something is wrong.
Isn't #3 the wrong picture for what seems to go in the blanks? The answer grid looks like it's expecting the first in the series, while I don't believe the picture is from that game.
My apologies to those of you who had trouble with the PNG files. This was a puzzle I put together a long time ago when Tanga 3.0 was Tanga 1.0. I'm really surprised the cobwebs were dusted off this effort, and it actually saw the light of day, particularly since other puzzles with a similar theme were previously published.
I guess there's not enough room in our house for a second puzzle maker, so I should just continue to leave that to my sweetheart, Murdoctor. He practically has it down to a science...or art form, depending how you look at it! ;)
Ok, well, this is torture for those of us who were born and grew up BEFORE there were any video games. I don't know any of them but guessed at the long one across the center and assume it's right 'cause it fits. But making us wade through lists and lists of games on wiki to MAYBE come up with the right titles....well, that is just soooo wrong. :(
[19] Even with a lot of help from Philana (Thanks again!), this one was painful for me, but Cheryl, please don't stop making puzzles--I've enjoyed your others!
I felt it was too little "cross" for a proper hypercross. But ... I like the idea of an arcade themed puzzle. We're gonna get duplicates. We'll do TV shows, book lists, quips from movies, arcade games, board games, food items, blah blah blah ...
When it comes to unfeatured puzzles, everyone should lighten up a bit. You didn't lose bonus points or anything. I don't care for all the "if you don't like, don't do it" bull on the main puzzles because those should have mainstream appeal, but in the unfeatured section, go niche-crazy for all I care.
Thanks for all of the encouraging comments. Recently, I've had to work on my graphics design skills for work, and puzzle creation aside, designing puzzles has also presented a challenge in the past.
Since enhancing my skills and proficiency in the graphics design area, I've been looking forward to creating a new batch of puzzles. Still an intimidating process doing so in Murdoctor's shadow...but then again, who better to use as a test audience, right?
The point about featured versus unfeatured puzzles really helped, too.
Cool... 1st to solve this easy puzzle...
Yet another "identify the picture" exercise for yet another "identify the game image" hypercross.
Yawn!
Here are two similar puzzles:

Ouch.. the fact I'm third on this tells me something..
Still, always good when misspent youth (and misspent quarters) pays off....
I have all the games, can't find my error.
Could someone let me TG them my answers
and check them?
thanks so much.

[4] tg sent.
No clue on most of these! I guess this is Karma's way of telling me I should have misspent my youth! ;-)
Only the pictures for 3 and 6 will show up for me. (I can see enough of 7 and 8 to get them, but I can't see 1, 2, 4, or 5 at all....)
[8] I think the ones you can't see are PNG files, and the others are JPGs.

[14] I think you're right. Despite what I said in [11], it turned out that my mistake in not opening the tiny pictures did not relate to clue #3.
I have answers. Apparently, they are not correct. Please, would someone check them for me?
Sure, I can do that. TG me.
Edit: Nevermind. I have to leave for a couple of hours. Sorry!
[16] I'm back. Do you have it yet?

Here's direct links for those who can't see all of the pictures (like me):
1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8
And to avoid frustration, 7 is not breakout.

I always hate when you're down to one clue and can't figure out that last one. I don't know what #2 is. Bah!
[19] Please don't quit composing! I've enjoyed all your other puzzles.

Good job, MedCheryl.

Thanks, everyone. :)
Glad I used to play video games back in the day.......................
