I'm sure the French will trip some people up, but these are all used in common English (which is nothing compared to the number of English words/phrases that have been exported to other languages around the world). I think this is one of the best-clued Hypers I've ever seen, so kudos to jebediehard.
I never understood why teachers tell you to look a word up in the dictionary if you don't know how to spell it. I mean if I can't spell the word, how can I look it up?
That said, I have all the words, but I can't spell them right.
thanks [18] That was the only one I was stumped on. The others were a matter of getting the spelling right since I never took French. Amazing how many close but not quite right spellings come up with google.
I need 2 and 10
[1] Maybe if we put our heads together? I don't know.
[1] I know not what 10 could be.
I am only missing 1
I have them, TG if you still need
Salt for 10, (1) her actual name, (2) Not first, but? (3) Name of the band.
[2] Nice!
And fun puzzle too.
Salt for 2, (1) Video XXX, Cassette XXX, Rollup XXX; (2) Character name on Fantasy Island, (3) Water xxx, zipper xxx, flood xxx.
Well, finally got 1 after staring at the other letters.
Any help on 9? I'm completely lost.
Edit: NM, post and solve...
Salt for #9, so you don't waste time like I did: It's a phrase that the French don't use.
Any hint of who the band is in number 10?
[11] British duo formed in 1981 by George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley
It's like those French have a different word for everything!
Had ten semesters of French and I thought this was tricky...
well at least I could spell them right.
Sacrebleu! Beaucoup Google!

[13] you wild and crazy guy
foreignine were confusing me.
but finally I completed the outstanding showpiece of this puzzle, #9.
Is it bad that I was lost on #11 for several minutes thinking that was Anna Nicole Smith instead of a Gabor sister?
Cute idea... but some of these clues are WAY off phonetically. #9 uses french AND english pronunciations in the same phrase!
[16] Merci beaucoup!
Must have something misspelled, but I can't figure it out. Can I TG my answers to someone to check?
#2's pronunciation is quite different from the clues', so try tinkering with the vowels a little.
je ne parlez francais.
