Wow, after spending about 45 minutes looking at stories of boy soldiers in trenches (and getting depressed because of them), it dawned on me. That's not a trench.
Mine is about 8" x 10" - but can easily come in other sizes
It was more useful half a dozen years ago, but as technology advances it is well on the way to becoming an obsolete accessory...
Apparently usage has changed, because Merriam Webster gives the definition for the word clued by the girl as being specifically a tight braid, not a loose bundle. Threw me for a bit.
the soldier is killing me. Thought 'dogface' was it until I checked the one going down. As for what he's in, 'deep $%&*' is the first thing that comes to mind. If it's not a trench...it's...OMG! Just dawned on me- DOH!
hmmm, I don't know what type of flower that is and I'm coming up blank on the soldier.
Well, at least I got the lion's share...
[1] Location, location, location...
[2]
thanks, that got the soldier for me, not just gotta figure out the flower.
i have no clue on the Night of the Living Dummy thing (what is that even? a book? a video?). i have all the rest.
i took an educated guess on the flower based on the theme. if i'm right, it's also a tree.
Finally got the plant name through guessing.
[4] A google of the author's name might help.
I think I've got them all but I'm stumped with the legs (stumped... get it?)
Any idea if there's a theme? Or is just a bunch of random images.
[6] thanks, got it.
[7] yes, there is definitely a theme.
[7] If you have them all, you should notice a theme... I'm stuck on both the leftmost one with the weird looking guy
got the wrong (theme element) for the soldier grrrr.
[7] Everybody Wants Some (Dave's monologue is all about those legs)
[10] The weird looking guy is named after a star (the object you view through the telescope). I think Ford Prefect came from that star system.
I have them all but it is telling me I'm not right! I hate spelling mistakes in crossword puzzles!!!!
[Edit] - my spelling issue was with the bottom left image. I knew what it was, but my spelling was too simple.
[10] The actor playing the weird looking guy is Michael Keaton, for what it's worth.
[13] i'm with you. apparently i had a spelling error in the musical instrument one a while back. i never did solve it.
[14] thank you (and wiki) (=
Ok. I see the theme, but still stuck on the legs....
[10] That's Keaton on the left. But you can't pry the top one out of me.
[12] It is the star system, but a pop-culture reference to it (not the scientific spelling).
Thanks [14]! That was the only one I couldn't figure out ... it's been a while since I've seen that movie.
Took me a second to realize their was something missing from the front of the book.
Wow, after spending about 45 minutes looking at stories of boy soldiers in trenches (and getting depressed because of them), it dawned on me. That's not a trench.
Wrong war.
little more help on the flower?
Any help on identifying that flower? LOL, just missed that post.
Its not the soldier but what he is in
The flower is really a tree found in the "wood"s
[25] thanks, that got me there. I would never have guessed it was a tree.
thanks got it
help with the flower and the fungus???
[28]
the fungus. . . hmm, she was a Peach of a character in Super Mario Brothers 2?
[28] kswitz
check GM
[29] thanks. had to wiki super mario 2 but that did it!!!
now I just have to figure out the flower.
leadfoot-
gm'd you back. I am still having issues..
any help with the train part or the flower?
[33] bigbam76
train part: a milkmaid might also be one...
or one who flys a plane (I learned this tonight)
You might be more familiar with the flower if you lived in North Carolina. Or the tree if you lived in Missouri. Or both if you lived in Virginia.
Ok, got the flower but the milkmaid reference [34] still stumps me
Got it with a quick try, thanks pb
geez, I'm drawing a blank on the child development school
Hrm...The rightmost one should have been aMANita
[37] Drew
What is that printed on?....
Mine is about 8" x 10" - but can easily come in other sizes

Incidentally, that image comes from http://www.jupiterimages.com/popup2.aspx?navigationSubType=pricingdetails&itemID=22884826 , where it's priced at $89. Does Tanga have a subscription that licenses images, or something?
omg first post!!!
Yeah, the girl's hair is definitely wrong.
The soldier himself is not the answer.
The star the movie/character is named after is spelled differently. Use the movie spelling.
the soldier is killing me. Thought 'dogface' was it until I checked the one going down. As for what he's in, 'deep $%&*' is the first thing that comes to mind. If it's not a trench...it's...OMG! Just dawned on me- DOH!
As far as the girl's hair goes I've always called it what the answer is. Maybe it's a northern girl thing :)
Hardest one for me was the flower... [35] was the salt I needed for that one.
Rest were pretty straightforward... especially after figuring out the theme.
The soldier one is the hardest. I figured out the theme, but I still cant figure out the answer

The soldier is in an evacuated piece of ground that he probably dug himself. You are trying to identify where he is...
