    Isn't #11 backwards?

  2. Phi3CornPhilana on Thu Aug 13, 2009 07:50 PM

    Be careful with #11!

EDIT: No, it's not backwards. As entered, it's a legitimate term. The opposite version wouldn't have fit the (subtle) theme.

  3. FileTomatobcgrote on Thu Aug 13, 2009 07:06 PM

No, it means a late night to early morning watch. Good catch, tho!

  4. Rf_avatarTomatoRandiman on Thu Aug 13, 2009 07:06 PM

Watch out for typos, too! *sigh*

  5. FileSailboatzyzzva on Thu Aug 13, 2009 07:13 PM

    i don get it....

    EDIT: nvm

  6. Avatar_profileEggplantninjoo on Thu Aug 13, 2009 07:13 PM

[2] how's that? I can't figure out why the other version wouldn't have fit...I mean, I solved the puzzle, but I really can't tell why that fits a theme whereas the other one doesn't.

  7. Phi3CornPhilana on Thu Aug 13, 2009 07:24 PM

    [6] It's subtle. I sent you a TG.

  8. Avatar_profileEggplantninjoo on Thu Aug 13, 2009 07:40 PM

    [7] Ahhhh, I see. I didn't catch that. Nice.

  9. SouthparkPepperTahnan on Fri Aug 14, 2009 01:01 AM

I have to admit, whatever theme Philana has in mind, it's too subtle for me to see as well.

I finished the puzzle, walked away, and the theme hit me.

[9] Maybe it's lack of coffee, but I'm having the same problem...

  12. FileEggMurdoctor on Fri Aug 14, 2009 07:14 AM

[9][11] The theme is that none of the answers represent what all of the answers have in common.

  13. KittylolxRocketjohanna on Fri Aug 14, 2009 03:10 PM

    I am Soooo lost.
Somebody send me a Tangagram with the theme and maybe I can figure out what I have wrong.

  14. AvatarEggplantOokpik on Fri Aug 14, 2009 10:16 AM

    I'm with [9] and [11].
[12] I see that aspect of the theme, but that doesn't explain why the reversed version of Clue #11 doesn't fit the theme.

Edit: Oh, wait, now I get what you are saying - it's not that the clues don't include what they all have in common, it's that the answers aren't actually an example of what they all have in common.

  15. FilePepperdajagr on Fri Aug 14, 2009 11:43 AM

At the risk of sounding obtuse, if #11 is in the order it is in because the answers aren't examples of the commonality, then what's #12?

  16. FileEggMurdoctor on Fri Aug 14, 2009 11:49 AM

[15] I thought exactly the same thing, so I went to dictionary.com and learned that it is a regional term for the metal stands that hold up the logs in a fireplace.

  17. FilePepperdajagr on Fri Aug 14, 2009 11:53 AM

[16] Ah. Well, #11 inverse can be figurative (an organization, for example). Not that the puzzle's bad, but I've not heard of #11 as it is. :) As long as it all works, though...

I have no idea where to even start here.

    #10 has me stuck...

  20. Phi3CornPhilana on Fri Aug 14, 2009 01:37 PM

[16] I'm surprised that dictionary.com claims #12 is a regional term. I have known the term since childhood, and I've never lived in any of the regions dictionary.com named.

  21. Phi3CornPhilana on Fri Aug 14, 2009 01:37 PM

[19] That phrase has a common abbreviation.

  22. Przewalskis-horseDuckiecrashbaptiste on Fri Aug 14, 2009 02:00 PM

[21] Thank you, that finished the puzzle for me.

  23. DaveCarrotdsee50 on Sat Aug 15, 2009 03:10 AM

[21] thanks, I never knew it was spelled like that, helped me get along, (a) little ...

  24. KittylolxRocketjohanna on Sun Aug 16, 2009 08:25 AM

Some salt specifically for #7 please.
Thanks[24] I think I know that term from directional drilling. However that means my down word is wrong but Hey! so is half of what I've got. 10 min later..... LOL Got it all. I was making it way too hard.

  25. FileEggMurdoctor on Sat Aug 15, 2009 11:09 AM

[24] Think of a bend on a golf course.
