I have all the but the trombones. I'm stumped with it.

EDIT: Well, solved it by process of elimination.

  2. AssetsEggjohninc on Sep 12, 2007 07:06 PM

    [1] A musical about a swindler.

Cool little puzzle, only had to google once.

  3. AssetsPotatoDrParty06 on Sep 12, 2007 07:07 PM

[1]it was quite easy for me given the puzzle that i created a couple weeks ago. http://tanga.com/puzzles/1441-9-3-2007

  4. Avatar_profileCherriesjbhalper on Sep 12, 2007 07:07 PM

Trombones has to do with a song.

  5. AssetsRocketMedCheryl on Sep 12, 2007 07:09 PM

Refreshingly different...loved the 80s song references. Nice puzzle!

  6. AssetsRocketBearcat89 on Sep 12, 2007 07:13 PM

I was wondering how long it would be before this type of puzzle was put up. Not a bad one.

  7. AssetsPumpkinleadfoot on Sep 12, 2007 07:16 PM

    Guessing on the balloons,
but have no clue about the dog...

  8. AssetsApplebagherra on Sep 12, 2007 07:17 PM

the balloons is a famous german song re-lyricized in english

the dog isn't about the dog, it's about the picture

  9. AssetsPotatoDrParty06 on Sep 12, 2007 07:18 PM

[7] i think there is a song about the balloons, and what is the dog?

  10. AssetsApplebagherra on Sep 12, 2007 07:18 PM

just of note, the temperature one is iffy
my normal temperature is higher than the stated amount.
99.1 to be specific (which isn't the answer)

  11. AssetsGrapesearthangel127 on Sep 12, 2007 07:20 PM

help for the phone jenny? it doesnt seem to match her number.

  12. AssetsDuckienrkii on Sep 12, 2007 07:20 PM

I don't get the bottom one across. the one with the web page.

  13. AssetsPumpkinleadfoot on Sep 12, 2007 07:21 PM

    [8] bagherra
Thanks - my guess for the balloons was wrong, enabling my process of elimination on the picture to be short. Still don't know "why" it is what it is, but then again - I don't really need to know...

  14. AssetsGrapesearthangel127 on Sep 12, 2007 07:22 PM

[12] that web page is an often seen error #

  15. AssetsDuckienrkii on Sep 12, 2007 07:25 PM

great, how do I get that error to happen so I can find the number?

never mind, I just googled error, and it came up with a drop down list that included the answer before I ever even did the search -- thank you google tool bar

  16. AssetsPumpkinleadfoot on Sep 12, 2007 07:26 PM

    [15]
I was one off the right one, and found the right one at wiki...

BTW - neat puzzle! The Aha! was particularly satisfying

  17. AssetsStrawberryTommyTutone on Sep 12, 2007 07:27 PM

Thanks for the shout out with my own personal clue.

  18. AssetsDuckiedavey3 on Sep 12, 2007 07:34 PM

Another great hypercross tonight ... that was fun!

  19. Avatar_profileAppleositobrian on Sep 12, 2007 07:34 PM

[11] it's from a song.... they sing the number....

  20. Avatar_profileStrawberryGrandpaDave on Sep 12, 2007 07:39 PM

Very nice. Very new. Fresh. Ingenious.

  21. Avatar_profileKiwibunnymama on Sep 12, 2007 07:41 PM

[11] comment #17 is all the salt you could want.

  22. AssetsBananayodaredd on Sep 12, 2007 07:50 PM

Very good hypercross! Although for some reason I had digits in the days of the year transposed and it took me 10 minutes to figure it out ;)

  23. AssetsSailboatchubbchsr on Sep 12, 2007 07:52 PM

    Damn you, Tommy Two-Tone!

  24. AssetsTomatobcgrote on Sep 12, 2007 08:41 PM

    Fun puzzle!

  25. AssetsPepperVerve640 on Sep 12, 2007 08:46 PM

  26. AssetsRadishBetaPrime on Sep 12, 2007 08:52 PM

I can't believe I still remember Jenny's number right on top of my head. Of course, I have to sing it to get it out.

  27. AssetsPepperdajagr on Sep 12, 2007 09:07 PM

    Ahh, good ol' Steve Stringbean...

"75 trombones is what you have
"And if you march down the field you can blow them..."

  28. AssetsEggKilgore on Sep 12, 2007 09:26 PM

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I keep getting, 'sorry that is not correct'.....
Is there any special input for the temperature one?

  29. AssetsSailboatIlta on Sep 12, 2007 09:52 PM

[28] Remember that this is an American site.

  30. Avatar_profileOrangeKingArv2 on Sep 12, 2007 10:12 PM

    fun times

  31. Avatar_profileOrangereese401 on Sep 12, 2007 10:18 PM

the number of trombones doesn't matter.

  32. AssetsBananatheChony on Sep 12, 2007 10:45 PM

I loved this one, only had trouble with the Galaxy Book but it was easy enough to guess.

Seems like some knowledge of songs would help.

I've always wanted to do a crossword with numbers. Thanks.

  33. Avatar_profilePeachwongjbw on Sep 12, 2007 10:54 PM

This one was fun... I was stumped by the trombones and sadly the calendar... I had the first and last number and the phone number on the calendar threw me off... Fun one.

  34. AssetsAppleqwertyca on Sep 12, 2007 11:28 PM

Nice idea... good to get a break from letters once in a while :-)

  35. AssetsBananaMorganza on Sep 13, 2007 12:11 AM

    Geeky fun!

  36. AssetsTomatoDonimo on Sep 13, 2007 12:53 AM

    2 thumbs up!

  37. AssetsEggKilgore on Sep 13, 2007 03:03 AM

came back to it, and still no luck. I think every answer is right so I am still wondering about the usage of a decimal point in the 1st one down. [29]mentioned to remember this is an American site, and I know that, and don't understand that salt.

  38. AssetsRocketokmaybenot on Sep 13, 2007 04:39 AM

I love this variation to the theme. It was great being able to use numbers instead of words as my spelling is horrible. Thank you, buggy!

  39. AssetsKiwidmatos on Sep 13, 2007 05:05 AM

cute puzzle, uses all kinds of things I didn't know you could use in a hypercross.

  40. AssetsPepperChupper on Sep 13, 2007 06:48 AM

[37] I think 29's salt was making sure you use fahrenheit instead of celsius (or kelvin, or rankine...). Your problem probably isn't with the decimal.

  41. AssetsPumpkinleadfoot on Sep 13, 2007 07:21 AM

    [37] Kilgore
the decimal point belongs in there...

  42. AssetsPumpkinimapuzzl on Sep 13, 2007 07:55 AM

That was fun. Opens up a lot of possibilities to use symbols, wing dings, numbers, letters, and all combinations of same.

  43. AssetsCarrotrobrizob on Sep 13, 2007 08:04 AM

I'm like Kilgore--I think I've got them all right but it's turning me down.

    NM, it was the trombones.

  44. AssetsBananajppe5 on Sep 13, 2007 08:19 AM

Now I'm humming "xx trombones lead the big parade." Thanks a lot!!!

At first I was counting the balloons. This isn't what one is supposed to do. They aren't all in the picture :)

  45. Avatar_profileWatermelonVictor on Sep 13, 2007 09:12 AM

can someone take the top off the shaker for the dog? who is the artist?

  46. AssetsBananabuggy on Sep 13, 2007 09:19 AM

[45] How much is any picture worth?

  47. AssetsPumpkinleadfoot on Sep 13, 2007 10:54 AM

    [46] buggy
Thanks! That was bugging me last night even after I solved it.
BTW - great puzzle! Very Fun!

[45] it doesn't matter who the artist is, or what the subject is...

  48. AssetsGrapesdantan98 on Sep 13, 2007 11:16 AM

    Clever, original, and refreshing! =-D

  49. Avatar_profileOrangepresbypreacher on Sep 13, 2007 11:44 AM

I'm blank of the galaxy book - got all the rest. This is my first try at Daily Fun. I'm a newbie, but this is a lot of fun!

  50. AssetsCarrotbaristabob on Sep 13, 2007 01:14 PM

    [49] wiki

  51. AssetsPotatoDandelion_Wine on Sep 13, 2007 02:55 PM

[1] Same here. Did the same thing for the solve.

[49] It's the answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything

  52. AssetsPlumdougw on Sep 15, 2007 12:06 PM

    I did it

  53. AssetsAppleeiknip on Sep 24, 2007 03:01 PM

It had a pug, best puzzle ever

  54. AssetsBanananurdremes on Nov 14, 2007 02:47 AM

Thought the book cover had to do with author's age when he died. Took some reading to find that one. Loved this puzzle.

  55. Avatar_profileCherriesbigword123 on Apr 25, 2011 03:45 PM

Haha, trombones were easy for me, I played Marcellus! (Hope that's not too much of a clue - first post on tanga)
