LOL, I scheduled these for tonight, since I knew it was the one night this week I'd be around... so, of course, something came up and I can't be here.

See you tomorrow. Everyone play nice.

  6. OctopusPeppercomishcraig on Thu Dec 10, 2009 07:12 PM

17 made me think for a while. Good puzzle.

    [11]Same here

  15. FileGarlicChupper on Thu Dec 10, 2009 07:31 PM

nice one. I really wanted there to be two of the secret ingredient before #6 though

  16. Avatar_profileAppleRPMiller on Thu Dec 10, 2009 07:35 PM

Grr... struggling with #17 even after writing it out

  17. Avatar_profileAppleRPMiller on Thu Dec 10, 2009 07:38 PM

Woohoo! Never mind, the second I stopped trying I got it

  18. Avatar_profileBananaknavekid on Thu Dec 10, 2009 07:41 PM

This one was great fun. My favorites were #8 and #14!

  19. Ted_doggPancakesdmlafrance on Thu Dec 10, 2009 07:46 PM

    [15] I wanted two before #13

  20. Panda-flyGarlicpandapal on Thu Dec 10, 2009 07:46 PM

94th. #17 held me up for quite a while. Said it over & over & then aha!!

  21. SierraDuckiePix924 on Thu Dec 10, 2009 07:52 PM

    Nice, missed your puzzles

  22. Avatar_profileStrawberrypamipa on Thu Dec 10, 2009 07:55 PM

Alrighty then... Either I'm way to old for this stuff or way too young... OR... I just really can't figure out the theme. I literally can't get a single one. I mean, I get words the fit the length, but I don't have any of those as "definite answers."

    Ok, time for bed...

  23. Avatar_profileApplephosrik on Thu Dec 10, 2009 08:11 PM

    10 & 17 are giving me a fit

  24. Avatar_profileGrapesscifiantihero on Thu Dec 10, 2009 08:31 PM

Is that a nerd or a dork?

  25. Avatar_profileBananaLuce on Thu Dec 10, 2009 09:07 PM

I have everything but 14...the one thing I think it can be doesn't fit with 7 which I'm sure is right...unless there's an alternate spelling I don't know of...

edit: Finally got it :) I'm a freakin' genius!

  26. FilePumpkinJohnQ118 on Thu Dec 10, 2009 09:29 PM

    I liked #15 best!

  27. Avatar_profileApplenonamesleft2007 on Thu Dec 10, 2009 10:39 PM

    cant get #14 and #17

    got #17

  28. FileDuckiespoofme on Thu Dec 10, 2009 10:22 PM

I'm having trouble with #6- I think its something Bart Simpson might say, but I can't make it work right.

    #14 that's sake
#17- "whats love got to do with it?"

  29. FileOnionRickj4029 on Fri Dec 11, 2009 12:18 AM

#8 doesn't seem to follow the formula, I don't get it!

Edit: OK, I guess you need to add the "so" in there as is in "he's SO..."

This was the hardest of the bunch, everything else was fairly straight forward. I used a crossword solver to finally get it.

  30. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Thu Dec 01, 2011 04:32 PM

    [11][14] That was why I added #12.
    [18] Mine, too :)
[19] I definitely considered it, but then it wouldn't be symetrical with what you're doing to all the other clues.
[29] It does. Just figure out what goes in those question marks, and then, er... do the thing that you're supposed to do. (EDIT) That's why the question marks are ?? ??????.

  31. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Fri Dec 11, 2009 12:20 AM

    And thanks, all!

  32. ScottCarrotoberjt on Fri Dec 11, 2009 04:00 AM

#8 may be the best clue ever. EVER! :)

  33. Avatar2PotatoMalenchite on Fri Dec 11, 2009 06:44 AM

As an employee of #2, I got a kick out of that one. :-)

  34. Avatar_profileApplesyzygy46 on Fri Dec 11, 2009 07:06 AM

I love #10's clue and answer. The only one I had any trouble with was #14, because I was using the correct pronunciation for the name of the drink, rather than the American one.

  35. Avatar_profileSailboatbaristabob on Fri Dec 11, 2009 09:09 AM

[22] I am sorry you are having trouble.
Keep your Eye out for clues.

  36. Avatar_profileStrawberryRusty13 on Fri Dec 11, 2009 09:19 AM

LOL. I've never heard #15 as a three-syllable word before.

  37. Dumb02Garlicsammydb on Fri Dec 11, 2009 11:59 AM

good stuff. #8 was awesome. however, #14 kicked my rear.

  38. Avatar_profilePotatoDadmeister on Fri Dec 11, 2009 01:17 PM

8 gave me fits, but I finally got it. Great puzzle.

  39. SaturnCarrotdkeith on Fri Dec 11, 2009 02:52 PM

That was probably the best set of clues I have seen in a hypercross. Subtle, phonic, but clear and unequivocal once each clicked in. No particular domain knowledge, generational experience or face recognition required. As many other have said, #8 was a challenge - but when I got it, it really exercised my "AHA" reflex.

And not a single goat, salt shaker, or stick of butter in the lot!

    Well done

  40. Sc002a57f6Pumpkinrunart on Fri Dec 11, 2009 02:55 PM

    Really excellent.

  41. Avatar_profilePeachMasterDinadan on Fri Dec 11, 2009 06:48 PM

I checked everything but I must have missed spelling somewhere! Argh!

Just found it. I misspelled 6. The spelling I had returned plenty of results on Google so I didn't realize my mistake!

  42. FilePepperhairy_lime on Fri Dec 11, 2009 10:58 PM

I have to pile on the kudos ... great clues. (and 14 was the best. and 8.)

  43. FilePepperhairy_lime on Fri Dec 11, 2009 11:06 PM

    (... and 15 and 17 and 6.)

  44. FileApplenkpham on Sat Dec 12, 2009 01:36 AM

15 was the kicker for me. i wasn't taking the pictures literally like i was supposed to... i thought the pics were a lead into something else

    nice puzzle!

  45. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Sat Dec 12, 2009 03:45 AM

[41] Yes, that's specifically why #12 is there: to correct your spelling on #6 :)

  46. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Sat Dec 12, 2009 03:46 AM

[39] Wow, thanks. I'm very proud of this one, so that really means a lot to me.

  47. FileOnionPatanga on Tue Aug 16, 2011 06:43 AM

    Loved the eighth clue......lol.
The last one provides a great 'aha'....just say it a couple of times out loud. Nice job, Arnott.
