I cruised right though these until I hit 16 and 17. I guess I'm not getting them because I still haven't got the what the theme is.

  2. AssetsDuckiecrashbaptiste on Jan 19, 2010 07:11 PM

    Need salt on 8 please.

Edit: Thanks! Hubby came to the rescue two seconds before I hit refresh!

  3. AssetsRocketmeshneiarin on Jan 19, 2010 07:10 PM

[2] What's the name of that application?

  4. AssetsApplenkpham on Jan 19, 2010 07:13 PM

I can't get all the answers either...

[1] Theme... if you put one of two words in front of each of the answers... it works.

    [2] Microsoft Office Program Name

    Salt on [12], [16], or [17]?

  5. Avatar_profileRadishDoubtingApostle on Jan 19, 2010 07:19 PM

Finished it, have no idea what it means though.

Edit: Ah, I see now. Cute.

  6. AssetsEgggst on Jan 19, 2010 07:12 PM

    Some tricky stuff in there!

  7. AssetsRaspberryjayvil on Jan 19, 2010 07:15 PM

Not sure I've heard #12 before, but the rest are great and they are all nicely clued. Thanks jebediehard!

    I like #16 & #17 a lot!

  8. AssetsPeachhairylime on Jan 19, 2010 07:15 PM

My best finish at 35th. I found this one pretty straightforward except for the last two clues.

  9. AssetsPeppercomishcraig on Jan 19, 2010 07:17 PM

[4] Thanks with the theme. That helped.

for 12...all those arrows are pointing...
for 15...how do you clean a chimmney?
16 & 17, just use the theme and maybe google.

  10. AssetsApplenkpham on Jan 19, 2010 07:18 PM

[9] i got the first part. i can't figure out a 4 letter word for the second part. :(

  11. AssetsRocketmeshneiarin on Jan 19, 2010 07:23 PM

    Fun one! Thanks jebediehard!

  12. AssetsPancakesbrupop on Jan 19, 2010 07:24 PM

[2] It is what it is; just say the.....
[1] Sorry, I don't know how to salt these without saying too much.
As for the theme, #9 is key.

  13. AssetsPotatoKittyCostumer on Jan 19, 2010 07:30 PM

[4]Thanks for the salt... once i figured out the 2 words, it became very clear to me. Came in 67th.

  14. AssetsApplenkpham on Jan 19, 2010 07:27 PM

i got them all except #16... I swear i've tried every fitting 4 letter word....

  15. AssetsEggGamesX4 on Jan 19, 2010 07:34 PM

I got the answers, but still have absolutely no clue on the theme...Ok, I looked back over it and got it

  16. AssetsGarlichwango on Jan 19, 2010 07:30 PM

No idea on the theme, and lost on those last 2.

  17. AssetsRocketigmkor66 on Jan 19, 2010 07:33 PM

i'm stuck on those last 2 as well... and the old guy... he makes no sense to me.

  18. AssetsApplenkpham on Jan 19, 2010 07:35 PM

I'm glad my salt on the theme helped alot of you. Too bad I still can't finish without #16. Gonna try leaving and coming back.

  19. AssetsApplenkpham on Jan 19, 2010 07:36 PM

The last two are phrases and involve the two theme words.

[17] If you get the them words... the old guy makes sense

  20. AssetsSailboatcdavis124 on Jan 19, 2010 07:40 PM

    Any Steve Martin fans here?

  21. AssetsAceKennyBruin on Jan 19, 2010 07:45 PM

I like the way #9 works - as things pass through, they seem to be transformed from one condition to another.

  22. AssetsEggendel3 on Jan 19, 2010 07:45 PM

finished it, thanks to the theme [4], but otherwise 16 and 17 make no sense to me still....a guessing game with the theme as a start...except for 16 and 17 it was a good puzzle

  23. AssetsApplenkpham on Jan 19, 2010 07:47 PM

now that i have the answer for #16... i would have never gotten that on my own since i've never heard of it.

  24. AssetsSailboatcdavis124 on Jan 19, 2010 07:51 PM

Very unique way to clue #16 & #17 jebediehard. Kudos!

  25. AssetsPotatoKittyCostumer on Jan 19, 2010 08:03 PM

If anyone is still stuck on #16 and #17... an Olympic event and the title of a 1988 movie, use [4]'s helpful hint of theme words to get the answers. Hope that helps and is not too salty.

  26. Avatar_profileRocketnickiann45 on Jan 19, 2010 07:55 PM

Thanks [4] for the theme......took some time to solve 17, but the rest I got pretty quickly.

[16] #9 is your best clue for the theme.....think of two adjectives that describe items that go in or come out of #9, then follow [4]'s instructions. The last two follow the theme.

  27. AssetsRocketigmkor66 on Jan 19, 2010 07:58 PM

[19] i see the theme words and see how they apply to some of the clues but not all of them. i managed in the top 100 of the other two puzzles so i guess i cant complain that this one is leaving me behind. i'll try again later. lots of daylight left on this side of the world!

  28. AssetsPumpkinJohnQ118 on Jan 19, 2010 09:08 PM

    [1]really? What's #4??
    ===got it.

    Boy #16 & #17 make NO sense...got'em from spelling.
    can jebediehard please explain?

  29. Avatar_profileBananaswmabie on Jan 19, 2010 09:12 PM

Salt for clues 16 & 17 (which I figured out before I got the theme :P):
Count how many there are, and think about what else has that many. Look for patterns (beginnings or endings), and figure out what to omit and/or include.
Once you see it, it's quite elementary.

  30. AssetsRocketigmkor66 on Jan 19, 2010 10:24 PM

thanks for all the salt out there. i finally got all the answers but still have no idea how it relates!! Some days it makes sense and some days it doesnt. i still enjoy working it all out.

  31. AssetsGarlicpandapal on Jan 19, 2010 10:30 PM

Hard, but fun! The last 2 took me forever, but everything finally fell into place. All the answers come out in the wash....

  32. AssetsApplephosrik on Jan 19, 2010 10:43 PM

no idea how you get 8, 16, and 17. The salt helped.

  33. AssetsPumpkinrunart on Jan 20, 2010 03:56 AM

    FUN! Another great hyper, jeb.

  34. AssetsPlumnutbarz on Jan 20, 2010 04:29 AM

    Sheesh.. I got it... Finally...

  35. AssetsEggsonjahi on Jan 20, 2010 06:05 AM

I figured out #17 without salt but mistyped it (too early this morning I guess) which made me miss #12. Got #16 from the Olympics salt and google but still don't see it in the clue. I like the idea behind those 2 clues and the cleverly hidden theme though.

  36. Avatar_profilePearcalex on Jan 20, 2010 08:48 AM

I know the theme and still don't have the last two even with all the salt... maybe I need to go back to bed! I even know what words are missing from the list...

edit - walking away certainly helped, and knowing they were phrases... thanks

  37. AssetsPepperarecords on Jan 20, 2010 07:54 AM

    Any salt for #4?

  38. AssetsTomatoMurdoctor on Jan 20, 2010 08:45 AM

For #16 and #17, the words on the right are all part of an ordered set, but they have been altered in a consistent manner.

For #16, the yellow semi-circle at the top is a clue to what they are, as well as the order they are in.

For #17, look at some of the longer ones, and you should notice what they rhyme with.

Once you figure out the original words from each list, you then need to figure out the methodology used to alter them, and derive the missing entry.

    [4]
    [20]&[25]

most helpful for 16 for me.
no clue how to use the picture, just ended up using salt and guessing.
Getting the theme finally helped it make sense.

  40. Avatar_profileApplethayek12 on Jan 20, 2010 11:10 AM

any salt on #4? I think i have the theme down and i have answers to all of the other clues (thanks to [20] and many others), but #4 just doesn't come clear to me.

Edit: meant to say #4, not #2.

  41. Avatar_profilePearcalex on Jan 20, 2010 11:24 AM

[40] - describe what you see in the picture, don't overcomplicate

  42. Avatar_profileRadishLegendDan on Jan 20, 2010 04:14 PM

I'd heard of #16 as a weight lifting excersize, and it's in the Rocky Horror Picture Show song "I Can Make You a Man." I never figured out what the actual clues were.

#17 would've taken me months to figure out by the clues.

  43. Avatar_profileGrapesquay2003 on Jan 20, 2010 04:59 PM

need salt for #8 i think

  44. AssetsBananaScalfaro on Jan 20, 2010 06:18 PM

I get the arrows for #12, and I get the theme. I can't make anything sensible fit for the second word.

Waiter, I need more salt. :(

  45. AssetsWatermelonpipemover on Jan 20, 2010 09:08 PM

    rough but good

  46. AssetsPancakesdragontrainer on Jan 21, 2010 07:39 AM

[44] I had a tough time with #12. When it occured to me that the first part of the clue could be plural, it helped a lot.

  47. AssetsRocketjohanna on Jan 21, 2010 01:21 PM

thanks [41] I was making #4 way too hard. And [46] that helped me get it too but we are not saying the final answer is plural. It's a baseball term.

  48. AssetsKiwijthommarson on Feb 04, 2010 09:26 AM

wow....finally got it after being racked for a few days...nice puzzle

  49. AssetsCarrotBattler on Apr 15, 2010 12:12 PM

aah, clue nine switches the theme (notice the half and half background). I was so confused.

  50. AssetsDuckiePatanga on Mar 03, 2012 02:52 PM

Got 16 thanks to the salt....still don't have any idea what it is....?
