    Theme?

NM ... I got it after I ran to the bathroom ...

  2. FilePumpkinJohnQ118 on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:14 PM

    wow!Spelling.
#15 was a stump until I got LOST.
and of course I know my own namesake nickname.

  3. 250px-lobster_nsrwRocketmeshneiarin on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:15 PM

    Love number 10! Thanks!

  4. Img_5Bananamcmoe316 on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:15 PM

    15 is ridiculous...

  5. FilePancakesCWarrior on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:15 PM

I've got them all spelled correctly ... at least I think I do ... but something isn't taking.

  6. HeadshotRadishjeanerz13 on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:16 PM

i keep wanting to say top for 14 but that doesn't fit with 15...

  7. Img_5Bananamcmoe316 on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:18 PM

[6] I had "top" also but the answer was a little uncooked.

  8. FilePancakesCWarrior on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:18 PM

It doesn't matter how many times I click 'Submit' without making any changes ... it still won't take!

  9. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:19 PM

[6] Say the name of the item in the picture. Listen to what you just said. Think about the theme.

  11. HeadshotRadishjeanerz13 on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:19 PM

i typed that in (the same as a female deer) and it didn't work...maybe i have something else wrong

  12. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:19 PM

[8] TG me what you have

  13. Avatar_profileSailboatcdavis124 on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:19 PM

    lol @ [8]

  14. Img_5Bananamcmoe316 on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:20 PM

    [9] There was a theme?

  15. BruticusPlumraichile on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:21 PM

Common first name is the theme...it's not Jack, though...

  16. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:21 PM

[14] Yep. There was. Take the first part of the title, use an alternate form, and pair it with each answer....you should see the theme emerging.

  17. FileGarlicmartinp13 on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:23 PM

Ok, I solved it, but I have no idea what the theme is. EDIT: nevermind

  18. Avatar_profileKiwimoonclarinet on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:24 PM

    thanks [16]. That did it

  19. FilePancakesCWarrior on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:25 PM

OK ... got it with a little help ...

I thought #3 was "a United States Army officer during the Black Hawk and American Civil War as well as the last US Indian Agent to the Sac and Fox tribes" (according to wikipedia).

Turns out the answer is "an American military intelligence officer and a Baptist Missionary in World War II who was shot by armed supporters of the Communist Party of China."

  20. HeadshotRadishjeanerz13 on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:25 PM

ugh spelling. I finally got in but not soon enough :(

  21. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:27 PM

[19] And he has a Society (and a song) that bears his name, too. :D

  22. Ted_doggPancakesdmlafrance on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:30 PM

[16] I was the 48th solve, and didn't get the theme until just now - it was really bugging me - Thanks!

  23. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:30 PM

I like Hypers like this where the theme doesn't kick in right away... but you can still get a lot of answers.

But not all of theme until you get the theme.

    Also, really like the title.

  24. Avatar_profileCarrotmmene on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:30 PM

finally got it but I have to say that #14 was kind of sneaky. Finally got it thanks to what [16] pointed out - which made it one of the easier clues...

  25. Avatar_profileGrapesmathfreak007 on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:36 PM

Thanks for the salt [16]. Wouldn't have been able to solve it without the theme.

  26. FileOnionRickj4029 on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:54 PM

    It's Jack & Jill, right?

  27. FileOnionRickj4029 on Fri Mar 12, 2010 07:58 PM

    Never heard of #4 either!

The people who make these things must stay up all night looking for obscure references to put in here.

  28. MeKiwipadlocksan on Sat Mar 13, 2010 01:14 AM

I love clue #2! An English answer to an American clue. How wonderfully non-provincial. Too many puzzles are Ameri- or Anglo- centric.

  29. Avatar_profileKiwiSilenus69 on Sat Mar 13, 2010 10:37 AM

Yeah that was a good one...having the theme DEFINITELY made the difference

  30. FileOnionPatanga on Fri Jul 08, 2011 08:50 PM

14 really hung me up....but a nice aha moment when you get it. Don't understand how anyone could solve this puzzle without the theme.
