Yippee!
No mention of Pizza I notice.
13th!! But still no clue what the theme is...
This puzzle is really great! I'd move on to the OWW if I could get #13... :(
edit: p/s strikes again! Paid too much attention to the words.
Good theme, and challenging if (like me!) you don't know much about it. I liked this one a lot!
No theme clue; keeping me back...ughh
stuck on #11 :( i've had the others for a couple of minutes.. but also don't see the theme
Edit: okay, I think I got the theme from the first clue and answer, but still stuck on 11.
Figured out the theme, still having trouble with several.
I am so confused...
Well-clued, especially because I rarely play.
Well-clued. I got a lot of them before I had any idea what the theme was! :-P
My family played #1 A LOT so I had the theme from the word go, which was helpful.
[7] That one's hard. Spelling is odd. Find a good page that lists things for this theme and it should come to you.
That was fun, knew the theme by #1, but didn't know alot of these, even tho I do this regularly, just not some of these particular ones. Google to the rescue.
Wow! That was hard...but fun! My grandmother taught me a few of these, but I had to look up the rest.
Just have #11 left... only thing coming up on google is a food.
Looked at several web pages, haven't found anything that fits for #11 yet.
Aha! Got it--thank you [12]!!! That one was tough, but thanks for a new theme gussr :)
Once I figured out the theme, it was a lot easier. 67th on hyper, 32nd on OWW, and 26th on crypto. By far my best showing so far in my limited Tanga life. It certainly helps to get here on time!
still not sure what the clue is in #7 (got it from wiki-ing the theme) but otherwise well done.
[15] check a map of northern California
11 was nearly impossible for me - now if I only knew what it meant!
You solved this puzzle in 0 seconds and were the 87th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 34 points for solving this.
Finally found a page that had the term. That was tough. My main problem was I thought the "p" that needed to be replaced with a "b" was in the second part, when it's supposed to be the "p" from the first part.
I think I have them all, but it's not taking. Can I TG someone?
Am I the only person who can't get # 15? Had the rest a while ago.
[21] I was on the same thought process with you. Finally got it. That #11 was definitely the stickler.
[23] - #15 was the last one I got just a few seconds ago. I am not sure what to say except that I got it with a lot of googling. You do need the theme though, without that I still would have been three feet away from the answer.
[21] That was exactly what I needed, thank you!
Been stuck on 11 for at least 20 minutes...this is dumb
[23] That stick sure is NOT a metric meter! Think USA.
I agree about #11...not as well clued as the others by a LONG shot. Spent 90% of the puzzle's solve time trying to figure out what the author meant to say.
[27] see [12]
Thanx gussr, for a fun one. My 83 y/o Mom plays most of these at one time or another (if she's not playing Canasta!) at the Senior Center she goes to every day for lunch. :)
[25] I've looked at 3 or 4 lists of the theme, none of them fits match the letters already there. Second letter 'o', seventh letter 'r', correct?
Ok, well it's not pasta, it's pasto. I just saved everyone 40 minutes.
[30] yes - just look at what you see for #15 - the general word for the left hand pic & -stick for the 2nd pic.
Thanks [28]. The resolution on that picture wasn't exactly high definition. I had trouble recognizing it even with your clue. And why was the first pic in that clue green? I thought it was a swizzle stick of some kind, lol.
[31] and on #11... it's not S+ at the beginning of the clue...it needs to be SE+
(another time saver!)
Remember, the p=b belongs to the Italian food, not the barber!
I still can't find where I'm wrong. I have a feeling it is #7. I think I have the correct words, but can't find any alternative spellings. Can someone please TG me? Thanks.
[35] Use the vowel "I" not "E" near the end of the word for #7.
TG me your word list or suspected problems if you'd like me to check them.
[34] Thank you! OMG thank you!
Thank goodness for Google.
This had an effect on me
The colored parts of #7 really threw me off. If you are having trouble with that one, just look at it as if there are no colored parts. They are not being emphasized. Thanks dduensing for being helpful! :)
#11 is very obscure, and quite hard to piece together from the clue.
[28]Agree!! Had all puzzle (except) #11 done within the first 3-4 mins. Spent the next hr. looking up & not finding #*!#* #11. I finally got it by trial & error.. Obscure indeed! Grrr
Man...11 and 13 could have been clued better. Those were not easy for me to figure out.
BTW...My father was world champion in 1979.
The clues were clear enough for me to solve having absolutely no idea what the theme was (until I googled afterward). #11 that some are having problems with is also a town in California.
#11 was difficult, the p=b is for the first pic, not the second, didn't realize that until AFTER I had the answer.
This was simply sick & twisted! Not fun at all.
Are these type of games for the elderly?
No offense whatsoever but it always is difficult to figure out a LOT of things from the TANGA games. Things that I don't know because they happen to be from way back, decades ago.
[44], I'm not so skilled; still no theme clue and half empty -- perhaps it'll click later...
edit, OK backsolved for the theme, and have absolutely no idea how anyone can solve this without the theme (hats off to you [44]), and though the title relates, without detailed research I never would have guessed...good puzzle for an enthusiast, but for me, it's kinda like those board and video game puzzles (but much better clued and much more solvable, and therefore much better once the theme is apparent)...On balance, good puzzle, even for me, a non-enthusiast....Thanks Gus
Too much googling on this one to be fun. Finally found the theme by putting half a dozen answers into google and saw what came up.
A special thanks to [31] and [34]...without you this would not have been possible.
This one's had me seeing spots after a while...
[51] lol
[34] That was my one and only beef with this puzzle. That the S+ was really an SE+. If I hadn't then found the word on a webpage, I would have also been unhappy with the A/O thing. Everything else was exceptionally well clued. I particularly like the double cluing on #6 that I missed the first time around.
yikes to #11, and thank you [31] but i had already spent 40 minutes before i read your hint.
i will have to say i liked a number of clues, however, i'm a tad ticked that 42 didn't get in there! i mean, come on! that game rocks!!
the 221st Tanga member to solve it. You earned 20 points for solving this. What the heck does "Lord and Master" have to do with the theme, other than to throw you off? Before I new the theme I went off in several directions, which just made my brain hurt. Some clues are good, other aren't (#7, #11). I had to work hard for these twenty points!
I got #11 right off somehow not even knowing the theme then but stuck on #13
Post & solve once I quit looking at the words and looked at the object.
Nice one Gusser! I had no clue to the theme without some eventual research.
I always like learnin' stuff here at Tanga™!
Didn't get the theme until all were solved and googled a few. I bet Van Morrison would like this one, sugar!
