  4. 100_1703Raspberrysonjahi on Mon Aug 23, 2010 07:08 PM

Awesome! #5 gave me the theme and #8 gave me trouble but the crossword solver helped me see I wasn't interested in the age of that horse... :)

  5. FilePancakesCWarrior on Mon Aug 23, 2010 07:10 PM

flew through them til i got tripped up on the horse (#8)

    nm: got it

  6. FileOnionRickj4029 on Mon Aug 23, 2010 07:08 PM

...and they were all real words!

  7. FileOnionRickj4029 on Mon Aug 23, 2010 07:09 PM

[5] Little Joe Cartwright always road one.

  8. 188227_100Rocketmaluba on Mon Aug 23, 2010 07:11 PM

funny... i had the same experience. got all of them except 8, and then took a few minutes figuring that one out.

  9. ErwinPepperTangaAl on Mon Aug 23, 2010 07:15 PM

Loving this one, but #1 and 2 have me stumped at the moment.

Ah, thanks to my wife, who came in. Got it!

  10. DudeApplejohondus on Mon Aug 23, 2010 07:15 PM

I've got the theme, but cant figure out #6

    Oh wait.............Too Simple

  11. Mad_scientist_caricatureRaspberrybrausm on Mon Aug 23, 2010 07:25 PM

got the theme....stuck on #4...feeling dumb....

100th...after having to look up synonyms...cuz applying theme to checkerouterer wasn't working....

  12. 164020Strawberrymswoozy on Mon Aug 23, 2010 07:15 PM

    UGH! I can't get #1 and #10! Any salt?

  13. ErwinPepperTangaAl on Mon Aug 23, 2010 07:16 PM

[12] Well, for #1, I realized the simplest noun works.

    and #10 are not blinds.

  14. The_faceSailboatChrika on Mon Aug 23, 2010 07:16 PM

I can't believe I had #2 misspelled for so long and never tried the word that fit the spelling

  15. ErwinPepperTangaAl on Mon Aug 23, 2010 07:17 PM

[11], this refers to the lady behind the counter.

  16. PhotoRocketdenisepinto on Mon Aug 23, 2010 07:19 PM

Yay, my name was a clue :)

  17. Avatar_profileOrangepresbypreacher on Mon Aug 23, 2010 07:19 PM

I can't get #6...not the movie I was thinking of

  18. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on Mon Aug 23, 2010 07:22 PM

[17] Nevermind the characters or the movie. It's the action your looking for....in noun form.

  19. 164020Strawberrymswoozy on Mon Aug 23, 2010 07:24 PM

You solved this puzzle in 0 seconds and were the 101st Tanga member to solve it. You earned 20 points for solving this.

Thanks, [13]! You were right and now I feel really dumb. Also, thanks [16], because your salt was what brought it all together for me. :)

  20. Avatar_profileSailboatbaristabob on Mon Aug 23, 2010 07:29 PM

great job. #6 stumped me until I realized this is tanga.

  21. Avatar_profileOrangepresbypreacher on Mon Aug 23, 2010 07:34 PM

    Whew...thanks [20] - that was the salt I needed!

  22. Nick_dress_blues_2Pepperbitwisenot on Mon Aug 23, 2010 08:21 PM

Still having trouble with #4. [15] wasn't enough.

Edit: Got it now, thanks for the help.

  23. 100_1703Raspberrysonjahi on Mon Aug 23, 2010 07:51 PM

[22] edit - sorry, thought you were talking about [16]. The check-out person can also be called the... The resulting word is an adjective not very commonly used.

  24. ShirlRadishshirl60 on Mon Aug 23, 2010 07:53 PM

Took me a freakin hour to get the theme...one I did it was easy sailing!

  25. FileEggMurdoctor on Mon Aug 23, 2010 07:54 PM

    Tricky...

  26. Avatar_smallCarrotidontkn1 on Mon Aug 23, 2010 07:55 PM

#1 tripped me up, I was thinking about a group of females from MacBeth. It's a lot more generic of a group.

  27. Avatar_profilePlumegates on Mon Aug 23, 2010 08:41 PM

[18] was exactly what I needed for #6. Thanks!

  28. 072Plumemmillee on Mon Aug 23, 2010 09:15 PM

    Fun! Thank you [16].

  29. Dsc01278Applejaneabr on Tue Aug 24, 2010 06:17 AM

I still can't get #6 - does it really contain a 'P' and end with 'Y' or do I have something else wrong.

  30. Avatar_profilePotatoajmoore2 on Tue Aug 24, 2010 07:02 AM

[29] Yes it contains a P and ends with Y. #6 could have been a picture of children doing the same thing.

  31. AnguseyeaCarrotbamar on Tue Aug 24, 2010 07:17 AM

I have no idea what I'm doing here. No theme, no words that fit and can't make sense of the title. I must be having a bad brain day.

Sheesh..... I think it just came to me a minute after I posted.

That was easy! I could kick myself for being so clodheaded.

  32. Avatar_profileBananabhodges on Tue Aug 24, 2010 09:34 AM

Totally lost... no theme to be found. *cry*

  33. FilePumpkinhomerh on Tue Aug 24, 2010 09:46 AM

    me too [32]

  34. Eg181208Potatotvfamily on Tue Aug 24, 2010 10:27 AM

the 229th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 20 points for solving this. :)

[6],[7],[13],[15],[16],[18],[23],etc.......Thanks for the salt! Took a moment to get the theme, but [32],[33] its in the puzzle title.......good luck.

  35. Avatar_profileBananabhodges on Tue Aug 24, 2010 11:02 AM

[34] I figured as much... still no help. *ponder*

  36. Avatar_profileBananabhodges on Tue Aug 24, 2010 11:33 AM

Hm... think I have it now... let's see.

  37. Avatar_profileBananabhodges on Tue Aug 24, 2010 11:36 AM

Woot. #5 finally put it all in place. Kept overthinking the relation between the clues/answers.

  38. Pretty_birdGrapesgyngerbrandi on Tue Aug 24, 2010 01:35 PM

I've been staring at the clues off and on for 6 or 7 hours and have no idea about the theme? Any salt??

    Got it Thanks to dkburnsjr!

  39. FfpicAppledkburnsjr on Tue Aug 24, 2010 12:59 PM

AHHHHHHHHHHHH... Still can't get #6... From the salt, I thought I had it, but still won't take it. SALT needed!!

  40. Avatar_profileCarrotmmene on Tue Aug 24, 2010 01:03 PM

Yeah, I too am still lost on the theme. I thought I had it for a minute but what I have does not make sense.

  41. Chain_bunnyEggIrrenarzt on Tue Aug 24, 2010 02:26 PM

Crossword solver finally gave me 6.

  42. 100_1703Raspberrysonjahi on Tue Aug 24, 2010 03:40 PM

For those that still don't have it, I found #5 to be the easiest place to start. You know the name of that insect, don't you? It's 4 letters long... but there's only 3 letters in the answer... Hmmm... looking at the title, I wonder what I need to do?

Or take a look at #7. You know what that word is too most likely. But again, it's 6 letters and there's only 5 in the answer. I think I see a pattern. :)

And keep in mind what [6] said. (Even if he is obliquely slamming an earlier hyper, his comment should still be helpful to folks that are stumped).

  43. Avatar_profileApplecarloscov on Tue Aug 24, 2010 05:19 PM

was trying a phonetic solution to #2 that might work in a cryptopix.

  44. Avatar_profilePlumpprattsj on Tue Aug 24, 2010 05:42 PM

    clever and tricky!

I have some for each one and they all fit together and all fit the theme. But something is wrong. oh well.

  45. Christopher_david_ryan_-_eyeGarlickc6201 on Tue Aug 24, 2010 06:47 PM

263rd. Took me about 15 min or so. #6 tripped me up a bit but it was clever.

  46. Christopher_david_ryan_-_eyeGarlickc6201 on Tue Aug 24, 2010 06:59 PM

    [44] Spelling for #2?

  47. MarkerryanSailboatryanker on Tue Aug 24, 2010 07:57 PM

    277th

The horse in #8 gave me the most trouble. Got the rest almost as fast as I could click. By the time I got to #6, I already had both cross words, so that helped a lot.

  48. Dsc01278Applejaneabr on Wed Aug 25, 2010 07:09 AM

Thanks [30] what children do helped.

  49. Phi3CornPhilana on Wed Aug 25, 2010 07:18 AM

I don't know if solvers noticed this, but there's a significant change in pronunciation between each clue answer and its corresponding entry.

  50. Lolcats_bunkeyKiwiTetralix on Wed Aug 25, 2010 09:49 AM

This was really fun! My first one. :] Thx!

  51. FilePumpkinhomerh on Wed Aug 25, 2010 02:34 PM

I'm stuck on #2, I'm completely clueless, HELP!

    never mind.

  52. TangaCarrotFalala on Wed Aug 25, 2010 03:27 PM

Once I finally got it, I was #7 with myself for taking so darn long...

  53. Avatar_profileWatermelonLaughSingLive on Thu Aug 26, 2010 12:49 AM

    [42] THANK YOU!!!!!

    <sheesh> D'uh.

  54. SavethewordscopySailboatWordoPhile on Thu Aug 26, 2010 09:14 PM

Very clever puzzle with number 6 being the hardest but with the best 'aha'.
