  8. Nick_dress_blues_2Pancakesbitwisenot on Dec 07, 2010 07:07 PM

I thought this one was very clever! All those geographically-oriented games I play sure paid off!

  9. Dsc00131GarlicRossmon on Dec 07, 2010 07:10 PM

2 was rough, still couldn't figure it out after i guessed it. thankfully i got the others all right and only had one letter to guess... now i can see what they were going for on it...

    nice puzzle.

  10. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Dec 07, 2010 07:11 PM

    [7] Me too.
[8] I don't play a lot of games like that but I had fun trying to tease them out based on the bits of the map I could see, my crossings, and the pictures.

Oh, and what an incredible grid, Ookpik! :)

  11. HurdansmallGarlicdeg on Dec 07, 2010 07:11 PM

[5] Having trouble getting off the ground? Need some saltitude?

  12. FileGarlick1w1 on Dec 07, 2010 07:12 PM

  17. Ysl_beauty_holiday_2008_makeupKiwiashleyohtori on Dec 07, 2010 07:15 PM

  20. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on Dec 07, 2010 07:16 PM

I agree. That was a lot of fun. Really made me think!

  21. Avatar_profilePlumRenegadeTim on Dec 07, 2010 07:17 PM

Loved this one! My first night with all three in the top 100! :)

Salt, The title really should help in this one.

Edit: And it got me my grapes! :)

  22. MarkerryanCarrotryanker on Dec 07, 2010 07:17 PM

THAT was fun. A great idea, very nicely clued.

  23. HurdansmallGarlicdeg on Dec 07, 2010 07:17 PM

    [17] What's that box called?

  24. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Dec 07, 2010 07:17 PM

    [11] You are awesome.
[13] Kind of funny that you had trouble with that one.

  25. Game-bsg-patchPeppershakkra on Dec 07, 2010 07:17 PM

    Very cleverly done. Excellent!!

  26. ShirlRadishshirl60 on Dec 07, 2010 07:17 PM

    Silly fun!

  27. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on Dec 07, 2010 07:17 PM

#6 is looking for all those things, inside the box.

  28. FileAppleqwertyca on Dec 07, 2010 07:18 PM

[17] Maybe you could ask David Hasselhoff's supercar for the answer.

  29. AvatarEggplantOokpik on Dec 07, 2010 07:19 PM

Thanks for all the positive comments! There was a good amount of input from jebediehard and Arnott that helped make this puzzle as good as it could be, so thanks go to both of them as well!

  30. UntitledPotatoBenditlikebaker on Dec 07, 2010 07:20 PM

[11] i finally had lift off... just need help on 6...

  31. Ysl_beauty_holiday_2008_makeupKiwiashleyohtori on Dec 07, 2010 07:21 PM

  32. FileXylophoneDavmar on Dec 07, 2010 07:21 PM

    Nice Puzzle :)

  33. PotstickersKiwi62mackinnon on Dec 07, 2010 07:22 PM

I was clueless until I saw #7, that answer/clue has been in my head before since my SO is from there.

  34. Avatar_profileGrapesNamelessUser on Dec 07, 2010 07:28 PM

    Any salt for #3?

    Got it! Thanks Sonjahi!

  35. UntitledPotatoBenditlikebaker on Dec 07, 2010 07:23 PM

nope now i just have something spelled wrong i think.. grr

  36. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Dec 07, 2010 07:24 PM

[31] You can TG me if you want.
    [34] Coulda used a picture of a flip-flop too.

  37. 07310099PancakesLakeLivin on Dec 07, 2010 07:23 PM

    Two thumbs up!

  38. Avatar_profileGrapesjakryk on Dec 07, 2010 07:24 PM

GRRRRRRRR! I swear I have everything spelled 'properly' and it is not accepting the solution!

  39. Avatar_profileGrapesjakryk on Dec 07, 2010 07:25 PM

OK, got it. Missed top 100 though.

    It was fun, though.

  40. Caveman_thumbnailStrawberryxeroid on Dec 07, 2010 07:26 PM

This was the most fun in a puzzle I've ever had. Maybe not so much fun for the non geographical types but I really enjoyed it. 2 & 4 gave me the most trouble

  41. UntitledPotatoBenditlikebaker on Dec 07, 2010 07:27 PM

[38] which one did you spell wrong? im having the same issue

  42. ToothAppleplacidfury on Dec 07, 2010 07:28 PM

Am I looking to spell real words here? So lost.

  43. Nick_dress_blues_2Pancakesbitwisenot on Dec 07, 2010 07:28 PM

[10] Well you should! (play those kinds of games, that is)

There are a lot of decent board games out there that really do teach a lot of geography. Most seem to be pretty Europe-centric, but some can be found that take place on some of the other continents.

  44. UntitledPotatoBenditlikebaker on Dec 07, 2010 07:29 PM

it's real words merged with a state/county that starts with the same thing

  45. Avatar_profilePotatoxanderphilip on Dec 07, 2010 07:29 PM

    Here here!

  46. Eg181208Potatotvfamily on Dec 07, 2010 07:33 PM

    Having trouble with #2

  47. FilePancakesCWarrior on Dec 07, 2010 07:35 PM

One of the better HCs in a long time ... which reminds me that it's time again to bring up the "Hall of Fame" idea that I've floated out there before ... this would be a worthy nomination ... if we had a HOF that is.

  48. FilePepperChupper on Dec 07, 2010 07:36 PM

Awesome puzzle, Ook! Great theme, great images. I wish the image in #2 was a little clearer though, it looked more like a woman's dress to me.

  49. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Dec 07, 2010 07:36 PM

If you are having trouble with #2, you could always use a crossword solver for the part that is pictured. a2zwordfinder.com is pretty good. It's only one letter you are adding.

  50. Eg181208Potatotvfamily on Dec 07, 2010 07:38 PM

[49] Thanks. Pretty sure I have that one, but still not taking. Must have another wrong. Will TG.

  51. 8grg3zbpu691mpv38q2nRaspberryjebediehard on Dec 07, 2010 07:41 PM

[29] You're being modest, Ookpik. The idea was all yours, your clues were great and fun and that grid!...

  52. Panda-flyGarlicpandapal on Dec 07, 2010 07:42 PM

Awesome puzzle! Great clues!! Struggled a bit with #6, but one of the comments gave it to me. Fun!

  53. FileEggForNoReasonHeresApu on Dec 07, 2010 07:55 PM

    That was excellent.

  54. FilePumpkinRickj4029 on Dec 07, 2010 08:18 PM

Well worth the extra effort! Well done.

  55. Cookie_monsterBananaChadicle on Dec 07, 2010 10:56 PM

I really enjoyed this one =)

  56. Christopher_david_ryan_-_eyeGarlickc6201 on Dec 08, 2010 03:41 AM

Nice puzzle! The theme with the added picture clues saved me from having to look any of them up!

  57. Avatar_profileCherriesbum73 on Dec 08, 2010 05:27 AM

    Very fun Baba!

  58. FileRaspberrydsmeyer on Dec 08, 2010 06:49 AM

    Excellent puzzle.

  59. Avatar_profileBananabhodges on Dec 08, 2010 07:10 AM

For those stuck... clue 4 is a good bet to cracking the code. For the first three I kept thinking I had forgotten how to spell and assumed that "other" stuff would be important later. *facepalm*

  60. FileEggplantJohnS43 on Dec 08, 2010 08:05 AM

If I move to the fictitious place that is the answer to #9, do I have to dye my hair blue?

  61. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Dec 08, 2010 08:20 AM

[59] Funny you should say that. The list someone TG'd me, they had that one wrong. Different strokes for different folks! Assuming you can identify the countries/states, I think that #5 or #8 are perhaps the easiest clues to crack the code.

  62. FileSailboatdagibbs on Dec 08, 2010 10:14 AM

Easy once I finally figured the theme.

  63. AnguseyeaCarrotbamar on Dec 08, 2010 11:40 AM

Tricky in parts, but loads of fun once I got the theme through my thick head. Unusual and original.....thanks!

  64. Avatar_profileStrawberrykgarden on Dec 08, 2010 12:57 PM

Ok so I told my geography teacher that I would never need to know this stuff but... I was wrong. =p I got the theme from the first clue and had pretty easy sailing from there (except that I had to keep looking up countries.) I LOVED this! Very well clued. ^_^

I never would have gotten #2 if I hadn't watched so much Scooby-Doo when I was younger. Aw Freddy... And I love #7! Too cute.

  65. Avatar_profileSailboatSqueegee on Dec 08, 2010 01:40 PM

One of the year's best IMO

  66. FileGarlicmentat on Dec 08, 2010 02:46 PM

    Very very nice puzzle

  67. Avatar_profileLemonTheButler2774 on Dec 08, 2010 06:19 PM

    #2 ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  68. Avatar_profileLemonangelchristy on Dec 08, 2010 06:37 PM

    VERY COOL. I think I pulled a brain muscle on #2 though. : )

  69. N28105341_32612671_6471Carrotsnugu on Dec 08, 2010 07:52 PM

All that Sporcle paid off. I didn't have to look up a single one.

  70. Avatar_profileOrangereneemjohnson on Dec 08, 2010 09:26 PM

    stuck on 2 and 10

  71. Avatar_profileOrangereneemjohnson on Dec 09, 2010 05:25 AM

  72. Interlocking_nyRadishNiner on Dec 09, 2010 06:47 AM

  73. FileBananapeoriapat on Dec 09, 2010 08:01 AM

ok, I am lost...checked and double checked to no avail...

  74. Avatar_profileWatermelonCptSquash on Dec 09, 2010 11:55 AM

  75. Avatar_profileOrangeLCShelton on Dec 09, 2010 12:54 PM

  76. Avatar_profilePlummattymatty26 on Dec 09, 2010 01:30 PM

nice! very fun and i actually learned a few things. great puzzle!!

  77. Avatar_profileLemonnainaisaephan on Dec 09, 2010 02:54 PM

NO idea what 2 is asking for!

  78. Avatar_profileLemonnainaisaephan on Dec 09, 2010 02:58 PM

ah, i know why i had trouble with number 2... that place isn't labeled on google maps :/

  79. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Dec 09, 2010 05:07 PM

[51] Agreed. It's easy to see how a great puzzle idea could maybe be better. It's really hard to have that great puzzle idea in the first place.

You've totally earned all of these accolades.
