2 was rough, still couldn't figure it out after i guessed it. thankfully i got the others all right and only had one letter to guess... now i can see what they were going for on it...
[7] Me too.
[8] I don't play a lot of games like that but I had fun trying to tease them out based on the bits of the map I could see, my crossings, and the pictures.
Thanks for all the positive comments! There was a good amount of input from jebediehard and Arnott that helped make this puzzle as good as it could be, so thanks go to both of them as well!
This was the most fun in a puzzle I've ever had. Maybe not so much fun for the non geographical types but I really enjoyed it. 2 & 4 gave me the most trouble
[10] Well you should! (play those kinds of games, that is)
There are a lot of decent board games out there that really do teach a lot of geography. Most seem to be pretty Europe-centric, but some can be found that take place on some of the other continents.
One of the better HCs in a long time ... which reminds me that it's time again to bring up the "Hall of Fame" idea that I've floated out there before ... this would be a worthy nomination ... if we had a HOF that is.
If you are having trouble with #2, you could always use a crossword solver for the part that is pictured. a2zwordfinder.com is pretty good. It's only one letter you are adding.
For those stuck... clue 4 is a good bet to cracking the code. For the first three I kept thinking I had forgotten how to spell and assumed that "other" stuff would be important later. *facepalm*
[59] Funny you should say that. The list someone TG'd me, they had that one wrong. Different strokes for different folks! Assuming you can identify the countries/states, I think that #5 or #8 are perhaps the easiest clues to crack the code.
Ok so I told my geography teacher that I would never need to know this stuff but... I was wrong. =p I got the theme from the first clue and had pretty easy sailing from there (except that I had to keep looking up countries.) I LOVED this! Very well clued. ^_^
I never would have gotten #2 if I hadn't watched so much Scooby-Doo when I was younger. Aw Freddy... And I love #7! Too cute.
Fun one - very well done!
OK, that was awesome. Thanks!
More, more! That was freakin' awesome! I needed more than 15 words - I was having a blast with this one!
That was really strange... but fun!
waiting to have a light bulb moment. im lost
Great one Ookpik!
#3 made me lol.
I thought this one was very clever! All those geographically-oriented games I play sure paid off!
2 was rough, still couldn't figure it out after i guessed it. thankfully i got the others all right and only had one letter to guess... now i can see what they were going for on it...
nice puzzle.
[7] Me too.
[8] I don't play a lot of games like that but I had fun trying to tease them out based on the bits of the map I could see, my crossings, and the pictures.
Oh, and what an incredible grid, Ookpik! :)
[5] Having trouble getting off the ground? Need some saltitude?
Took a while to click but fun once it did.
Whew, #6 took me way too long... Great puzzle though!
That was a blast!
yeah, 6 was a pain....
VERY creative! I love geography and I love wordplay, so this one really hit the spot!
any salt on 6 please?
Fun, especially for a geography nerd like me. :-D
Delightful puzzle, Ookpik! Thank you.
I agree. That was a lot of fun. Really made me think!
Loved this one! My first night with all three in the top 100! :)
Salt, The title really should help in this one.
Edit: And it got me my grapes! :)
THAT was fun. A great idea, very nicely clued.
[17] What's that box called?
[11] You are awesome.
[13] Kind of funny that you had trouble with that one.
Very cleverly done. Excellent!!
Silly fun!
#6 is looking for all those things, inside the box.
[17] Maybe you could ask David Hasselhoff's supercar for the answer.
Thanks for all the positive comments! There was a good amount of input from jebediehard and Arnott that helped make this puzzle as good as it could be, so thanks go to both of them as well!
[11] i finally had lift off... just need help on 6...
Thanks guys. I think I have everything....will someone please check? Its just not taking.
Nice Puzzle :)
I was clueless until I saw #7, that answer/clue has been in my head before since my SO is from there.
Any salt for #3?
Got it! Thanks Sonjahi!
nope now i just have something spelled wrong i think.. grr
[31] You can TG me if you want.
[34] Coulda used a picture of a flip-flop too.
Two thumbs up!
GRRRRRRRR! I swear I have everything spelled 'properly' and it is not accepting the solution!
OK, got it. Missed top 100 though.
It was fun, though.
This was the most fun in a puzzle I've ever had. Maybe not so much fun for the non geographical types but I really enjoyed it. 2 & 4 gave me the most trouble
[38] which one did you spell wrong? im having the same issue
Am I looking to spell real words here? So lost.
[10] Well you should! (play those kinds of games, that is)
There are a lot of decent board games out there that really do teach a lot of geography. Most seem to be pretty Europe-centric, but some can be found that take place on some of the other continents.
it's real words merged with a state/county that starts with the same thing
Here here!
Having trouble with #2
One of the better HCs in a long time ... which reminds me that it's time again to bring up the "Hall of Fame" idea that I've floated out there before ... this would be a worthy nomination ... if we had a HOF that is.
Awesome puzzle, Ook! Great theme, great images. I wish the image in #2 was a little clearer though, it looked more like a woman's dress to me.
If you are having trouble with #2, you could always use a crossword solver for the part that is pictured. a2zwordfinder.com is pretty good. It's only one letter you are adding.
[49] Thanks. Pretty sure I have that one, but still not taking. Must have another wrong. Will TG.
[29] You're being modest, Ookpik. The idea was all yours, your clues were great and fun and that grid!...
Awesome puzzle! Great clues!! Struggled a bit with #6, but one of the comments gave it to me. Fun!
That was excellent.
Well worth the extra effort! Well done.
I really enjoyed this one =)
Nice puzzle! The theme with the added picture clues saved me from having to look any of them up!
Very fun Baba!
Excellent puzzle.
For those stuck... clue 4 is a good bet to cracking the code. For the first three I kept thinking I had forgotten how to spell and assumed that "other" stuff would be important later. *facepalm*
If I move to the fictitious place that is the answer to #9, do I have to dye my hair blue?
[59] Funny you should say that. The list someone TG'd me, they had that one wrong. Different strokes for different folks! Assuming you can identify the countries/states, I think that #5 or #8 are perhaps the easiest clues to crack the code.
Easy once I finally figured the theme.
Tricky in parts, but loads of fun once I got the theme through my thick head. Unusual and original.....thanks!
Too cute.
One of the year's best IMO
Very very nice puzzle
#2 ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
VERY COOL. I think I pulled a brain muscle on #2 though. : )
All that Sporcle paid off. I didn't have to look up a single one.
stuck on 2 and 10
i thought i had them all but it won't verify...i double checked sp in google...what's up?!
nice puzzle
ok, I am lost...checked and double checked to no avail...
Like the puzzle.. double checked my spelling even with that it said I failed the spell check..
Ok totally thought I had it but failing the check!!
nice! very fun and i actually learned a few things. great puzzle!!
NO idea what 2 is asking for!
ah, i know why i had trouble with number 2... that place isn't labeled on google maps :/
[51] Agreed. It's easy to see how a great puzzle idea could maybe be better. It's really hard to have that great puzzle idea in the first place.
You've totally earned all of these accolades.
