    Not seeing the theme here.

  2. FileCheeseburgerQurqirishDragon on Feb 07, 2011 07:05 PM

    [1] think of a song.

It took me most of the clues to get the theme- and then I had to redo every one of them.

  3. DadRaspberryjayvil on Feb 07, 2011 07:05 PM

Good one! Nice mixture of plurals to keep us thinking!

  4. FileEgggwk1967 on Feb 07, 2011 07:06 PM

6th! I didn't get the theme until #9, but then it was pretty easy (except for #5, I don't know much about those kinds of symbols).

  5. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Feb 07, 2011 07:09 PM

[1] I filled in pieces I knew and noticed a certain commonality to what was missing in each one and then filled in clues to get those letters for crossing clues until I got the theme. If that makes sense. Kind of a cool way to uncover the theme. You have to make some assumptions and try it out but I kind of like doing that kind of detective work more than staring at the title and hoping it comes to me.

Unfortunately, I'm stuck on #10 and two crossword solvers won't give it to me. edit: p&s strikes again! :)

    Very nicely done, sammy!

  6. FileRaspberrydsmeyer on Feb 07, 2011 07:07 PM

Although I wasn't first, I finished near the top.

  7. FileBananabeckyfogey on Feb 07, 2011 07:09 PM

need a hint to get started

  8. FileTomatoMurdoctor on Feb 07, 2011 07:11 PM

    [5] It's a slang term...

  9. Christopher_david_ryan_-_eyeGarlickc6201 on Feb 07, 2011 07:11 PM

    86th.

  10. FileRaspberrydsmeyer on Feb 07, 2011 07:12 PM

    [7] I thought I gave a hint.

  11. Avatar_profileAppleBarry1214 on Feb 07, 2011 07:15 PM

[5] I think we say "the ..." but others cal it "the ..."

    I'm guessing but it fits

    edit [14] I totally agree and haven't a clue.

  12. FilePepperclarencebyer on Feb 07, 2011 07:19 PM

Also stuck on #10. Was doing well and thought I was gonna finish quickly, but that one has me stumped. Salt?
    NM: post and solve

[10] yeah, i know the song, but i don't see how these clues go with the song...

  15. FileEggmarkta on Feb 07, 2011 07:14 PM

Thank you [8]. Got number 100 because I was stuck on it for so long, but I'm not complaining.

  16. Gap_-_blue_eyesDuckiespeedgitano on Feb 07, 2011 07:23 PM

Also stuck on #10. [8] which is the slang term: the original or the answer?

Nevermind, finally got it! I feel like a boob!

  17. Brownie_sundaeGarlicbrownie1 on Feb 07, 2011 07:20 PM

Great puzzle except I was stuck on number #5 also.

  18. Cutie_jillianPeppersuzique on Feb 07, 2011 07:22 PM

Number 10 had me stumped for a while too. It's an old term for what's pictured. Let's just say it's not an LCD or a plasma.

  19. MarkerryanCarrotryanker on Feb 07, 2011 07:25 PM

[5] Just in case you still don't have #10, which I find difficult to believe given your history...

The four letters you're missing are often prefixed with a rhyming word to make a more derogatory term for the item. (...or perhaps for the people that watch it.)

  20. FileEggmarkta on Feb 07, 2011 07:32 PM

    LOL [16] !

  21. AvadoneDuckiebargellos on Feb 07, 2011 07:32 PM

Nice challenge to figure out the theme. Fun.

  22. Avatar_profileKiwiKayAnders on Feb 07, 2011 07:40 PM

For 10, don't think British. Think hot summer days.

The theme had me spinning around for a moment, but once I got it, it was easy as cheese. I courted it a little slow, though, didn't make the top 100.

  23. GummiesAppleploobers on Feb 07, 2011 07:43 PM

Thanks [16], #10 was driving me crazy.

  24. Avatar_profileAppleBarry1214 on Feb 07, 2011 07:46 PM

Went in the other room, sat down, got it right off the top of my head. 1st time that's ever happened to me. I had lyrics up, overworking it.
    Cool puzzle.

Got all but 5, salt please.

Never Mind, I got it now.

  26. FilePepperclarencebyer on Feb 07, 2011 09:22 PM

    [25] TG sent

  27. Avatar_profileGrapeshowiebrn on Feb 07, 2011 11:46 PM

I'll take that salt for 5. Got all but that.

  28. Avatar_profileGrapeshowiebrn on Feb 07, 2011 11:49 PM

    P&S for 203

  29. FileTomatoMurdoctor on Feb 08, 2011 05:03 AM

For anyone else still struggling with #5, those are notations used in music.

  30. UntitledPotatoBenditlikebaker on Feb 08, 2011 05:17 AM

I cannot figure out the theme... salt?

  31. Family_055Bananafarriord on Feb 08, 2011 06:26 AM

I am having trouble with 8

  32. Daisy_bellis_perennisAcejargonista on Feb 08, 2011 06:45 AM

    #226

It was so simple I looked right past it! Struggled with it last night. After some rest I finished it with no additional stress.

    Very nicely clued, Sammy!

  33. Ncvacation2011_123Acemmp21989 on Feb 08, 2011 06:46 AM

Excellent puzzle! #5 made me work for my 20 points that's for sure!!

  34. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Feb 08, 2011 06:46 AM

[31] That's not a 'nib' - what part of the pencil is that?

[29] I used one of those symbols in a puzzle once and Arnott expressed concern about people not recognizing them. I found that remarkable. But tonight I realize that he's right. Not everyone has a passing familiarity with musical notations. Who'd have known?! :)

    [30] I'll send you a TG.

  35. Black_knightPeachlordwoodsman on Feb 08, 2011 07:47 AM

Good puzzle, but wasn't happy with #10, had to read the comments. A British term for a TV fits the hint, the spacing and the theme.

  36. SlyfaceStrawberryslycreations on Feb 08, 2011 08:18 AM

nice puzzle. #11 had me stumped for a long time since it seemed to me that the second picture was subtracting the only word I had from the first picture. Eventually figured out the extra word I was missing after solving the rest of the puzzle.

  37. Avatar_profileBananated643 on Feb 08, 2011 09:29 AM

Good puzzle. Had no clue what the title meant until I got to clue 13.

  38. FileTomatobcgrote on Feb 08, 2011 07:08 PM

LOL, just recalled the CSI episode with #14...

  39. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Feb 08, 2011 07:18 PM

[34] Have you still not learned? NEVER DOUBT ME!!!

    (except when I'm wrong)

  40. Avatar_profileBananacarloscov on Feb 08, 2011 09:10 PM

LOL. I first thought the title referred to Smokey the Bear and started answering firetruck, fire door and backfire, but got suspicious of my theme when hotpants didn't fit at all.

  41. AnguseyeaCarrotbamar on Feb 09, 2011 04:02 AM

    Nice!

  42. Avatar_profilePearCHANDELIERE on Feb 09, 2011 07:08 AM

can the puzzle be printed out so I can work on a hard copy of it ?

  43. FilePumpkinJohn on Feb 09, 2011 09:57 AM

    [42] Not really

  44. Avatar_profileWatermelonjohnfo on Feb 09, 2011 10:26 AM

Finally got it. [10] hung me up for quite awhile. It was a poor clue. It would have been better showing the inside of the TV.

  45. Avatar_profileBananacapetrus1 on Feb 09, 2011 10:40 AM

Typed in each image.....then had my aha moment when looking at the terms collectively.

  46. Avatar_profileAppleFlashFlood52 on Feb 09, 2011 10:43 AM

    phweew

  47. Avatar_profileStrawberrytaceeroyce on Feb 09, 2011 11:18 AM

I'm still stuck trying to figure out what is probably super obvious. Salt anyone?

  48. KittylolxRocketjohanna on Feb 09, 2011 12:46 PM

Those musical symbols all have something in common as far as meaning. In all the clues, the picture gives you a word to use with the common word. The picture does *NOT* represent the word that goes in the blanks. I had amazing number of false starts before the Ah Ha came.
