    Nice! I got first!

I say the same thing to you, jargonista! Great job!

  2. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Jun 29, 2011 07:06 PM

    Stuck on #10 and since I don't get the theme... I don't have a clue. :)

  3. 50s_womanCarrotpennyb9 on Jun 29, 2011 07:13 PM

Any salt for 10? Not really sure on 7,either.

[4] - Ah, thanks! Now it makes sense, although I think I would have clued that one way differently (sorry, jargonista). And #7 was kind of a stretch. But fun puzzle.

  4. FileCheeseburgerQurqirishDragon on Jun 29, 2011 07:09 PM

[2] [3] on 10: Use these to follow the thing that left them.

  5. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Jun 29, 2011 07:09 PM

Ok, got #10 but something's wrong. Can someone check my answers?

  6. FilePotatojunderscore on Jun 29, 2011 07:36 PM

Yeah, 7 and 10...they're not crossing right. I must have one or both wrong. I think I know 7, but it doesn't fit. Pretty sure on 10.

Edit: got the theme, now i think 10 is wrong. hmmm...

Finally got it. I couldn't get the wrong word for #10 out of my head.

  7. Avatar_profile-fpPepperzxo on Jun 29, 2011 07:09 PM

    [2] It's something a recipe can help with :)

    EDIT: the theme, I mean

  8. Nick_dress_blues_2Pancakesbitwisenot on Jun 29, 2011 07:11 PM

As usual a really dumb spelling error cost me many minutes (and points). Nice puzzle though.

  9. FileOnionjaymanmsu on Jun 29, 2011 07:15 PM

I'm still trying to work out #2. I think I have the rest.

edit: got it. Was going the entirely wrong direction on that clue from the start. Tried making a certain term for male deer fit into it.

  10. Nick_dress_blues_2Pancakesbitwisenot on Jun 29, 2011 07:11 PM

    [5] I can check

  11. Ted_doggRaspberrydmlafrance on Jun 29, 2011 07:11 PM

Nice, I got 3rd solver, and had to come back after the OWW and figure out what the theme was...clever.

  12. Avatar_profile-fpPepperzxo on Jun 29, 2011 07:14 PM

My day... just got a little better: 11th here, 3rd on the OWW!

  13. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Jun 29, 2011 07:14 PM

[10] Thanks for the check. Went from a potential top 20 to 81st... Feel silly!

Still don't get the theme though.

  14. Avatar1GrapesTechLife on Jun 29, 2011 07:18 PM

    Good puzzle! Thanks!

[13] Can't say as I do either... LOL

  15. Bp3Eggendel3 on Jun 29, 2011 07:18 PM

    [13], [14], me either...

  16. Avatar_profileStrawberryFretzy on Jun 29, 2011 07:22 PM

#2 is a real head scratcher. I think I have everything else though.

Edit: Oh wow. Ok. It's a parent to son interaction. I see.

  17. FileCarrotbobmcd67 on Jun 29, 2011 07:20 PM

The obvious answer to 7 obviously doesn't fit... what am I missing?

  18. Hermit_crab-206Garlichwango on Jun 29, 2011 07:21 PM

Can someone explain the theme to me? I can't seem to get 6 and 13, and it seems like it might help.

  19. FileCarrotmmene on Jun 29, 2011 07:22 PM

Just can't get #2, #6 and #10. Appreciate any salt.

  20. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Jun 29, 2011 07:23 PM

Thanks for the TG on the theme! Consider what goes after the title when spoken by a certain bad a**. See if you can get it from there. That next phrase has a piece that can go with each of these.

[17] Go with a homonym for the word you get instead.
[16] What do parents give their children every week for chores they've done?

  21. FileDuckiePatanga on Jun 29, 2011 07:22 PM

Finally got the theme after 20 minutes.....groan.

  22. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Jun 29, 2011 07:25 PM

#6 - you basically subtract the entire second word from her name.
    #10 - see comment [4]
#13 - Dude? Where were you in the 60's? _____, not war!

  23. FileEggj15bell on Jun 29, 2011 07:42 PM

is it me or is #7 usually spelled different? possibly I'm looking at the wrong thing.

edit: it is until you actually "get" the theme.

  24. FileCarrotmmene on Jun 29, 2011 07:27 PM

    [4] - thanks I finally got it.
Still did not get the theme.

  25. Bp3Eggendel3 on Jun 29, 2011 07:29 PM

UGH...12 is not "notes".....still no clue on the theme, but I don't care anymore, I don't care anymore....

edit: think I have the theme, but kind of loose...never heard it for 6 e.g.

  26. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Jun 29, 2011 07:29 PM

[24] Yes - they clued a homonym. I assume it was deliberate.

  27. FileBananaryan8720 on Jun 29, 2011 07:30 PM

    Can't get #2...or the theme.

  28. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Jun 29, 2011 07:33 PM

[27] Did you see my salt for #2 in [20]? (Responding to [16])

  29. FileDuckiePatanga on Jun 29, 2011 07:36 PM

[27] It's what kids get on Saturdays if they have done their chores....but it's the plural.

  30. SlideuleSailboatDaSaintFan on Jun 29, 2011 07:41 PM

[23] Yes, #7 is a homonym... it took me a while to figure that one out too...

  31. FileBananaryan8720 on Jun 29, 2011 07:44 PM

Thanks [28], I hadn't seen that. Of course now that means i have #12 wrong.

Wow, P&S. I was trying every slang term I could think of instead of the obvious.

  32. Avatar_profilePlumschmangerine on Jun 29, 2011 08:08 PM

    I cannot get #10. I've read [4] and still don't get it. I'm dense.

    Got it, finally.

  33. Stfu_fortune_cookie-12260Bananainsta1234 on Jun 29, 2011 08:24 PM

This is the first time Ive finished a hyper without understanding the theme. Someone mind TG'ing me the theme?

  34. FileCarrotbobmcd67 on Jun 29, 2011 08:25 PM

Thanks Sonjahi for [20] ... #7 would have been easier if I had not been stuck on "prints" for #10

I think #12 would have been better clued if they were not all $100 bills

  35. Avatar_profileKiwidajacra on Jun 29, 2011 09:04 PM

I have solved the hyper, but still don't get what the theme is, can somebody send me a TG?

    Thanks, Dana

  36. Panda-flyGarlicpandapal on Jun 29, 2011 09:08 PM

Finished the puzzle but no idea as to the theme. Can someone please TG me with it? I'm lost.....

  37. FileGarlicMrPlow99 on Jun 29, 2011 10:46 PM

Glad I wasn't the only one who had #12 wrong initially.

I also didn't get the theme without salt. I figured the 2 words that were separated from the hyper had special meaning in terms of figuring out the theme, but I guess they just didn't fit. But that's weird, because I can see a place where they'd fit.

  38. Bp3Eggendel3 on Jun 30, 2011 03:04 AM

    [36] TG sent

  39. Avatar_profilePlumDavcas02 on Jun 30, 2011 08:09 AM

#8 isnt a pack of lions grrr

  40. Avatar_profileApplejjrosen on Jun 30, 2011 09:17 AM

I'm stuck on #12 as well and do not get the theme. Could someone toss me a TG too?

  41. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Jun 30, 2011 01:40 PM

[40] #12 is really pretty simple. It's the most general term for what you see. Maybe it would have been clearer if they hadn't all been the same denomination. Imagine that there are $1, $5, and $20 bills too and maybe some coins and some foreign bills too. What are all those things called?

I'll send you a TG on the theme.

  42. Family_055Bananafarriord on Jun 30, 2011 02:26 PM

I still do not get the theme. Got them all but have no idea how they fit together. Could someone TG me.

  43. Rising-sunRocketehbeerdude on Jun 30, 2011 03:32 PM

Can someone check my answers? It's not taking.

Also, some help understanding the theme would be nice.

    Thanks

EDIT: Got it! #4 isn't "water". Still don't get the theme though...

  44. Christopher_david_ryan_-_eyeGarlickc6201 on Jun 30, 2011 04:04 PM

The theme is "Make...". If anybody thinks that's too much you can flag it, but I don't think the clue to the theme is very strong here.

  45. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Jun 30, 2011 04:31 PM

I thought about the title for this one when I came across it... and I felt like it was okay for it to be somewhat vague like that. Sometimes the title is like the 19th hole - it's the last clue you solve.

Sometimes it's not even solvable until after-the-fact (from 2007):
    http://www.tanga.com/crossword_puzzles/17-6-15-2007
(PNG images, so this might not work for everybody)

I felt like some people could totally get the theme from the title, but that most would get the theme here from their partial answer set... and *then* maybe the title. And I thought that might be cool.

FWIW, it seems like several of you got ALL the answers without knowing the theme, which to me, makes this Hyper fair enough.

  46. NewyorkerdogStrawberrykm on Jun 30, 2011 07:40 PM

    Help! I still don't get #7?!

  47. FileCarrotengles on Jun 30, 2011 10:34 PM

#12 is not notes, as in C-notes!

  48. Avatar_profileWatermelonTXGrandma on Jun 30, 2011 11:28 PM

337th isn't bad for my first time!

  49. Cool_1WatermelonJeepinAngel on Jul 01, 2011 02:02 PM
