    It's not a tumah

  2. FileBananaethnosax on Sep 26, 2007 07:10 PM

I think I looked at every clue before figuring out the theme. A great aha moment, as up to that point, I'd been really disgusted with this puzzle. :)

This was a good light Hypercross--quick, easy, clever, and after some recent puzzles--no tedious stuff at all! Thanks!

What does "You got it! But we're not going to save your answer" mean? What did I do wrong?

Oh, and a little salt: despite the title, this puzzle has nothing to do with Tony Kornheiser

  4. Avatar_profilePancakesrandomcyn on Sep 26, 2007 07:12 PM

    Heheh, cute one!

  5. FileGarlicHope2002 on Sep 26, 2007 07:12 PM

[1] Gave me the theme. Otherwise I would have been lost. Even with two of the answers.

  6. FileGarlicHope2002 on Sep 26, 2007 07:21 PM

Can't figure out the white weasel. Any salt?

    nevermind.....the second you ask.

  7. ApparatusGrapesApparatus on Sep 26, 2007 07:21 PM

A few groaners there but an overall good time.

  8. Avatar_profileKiwiyendi on Sep 26, 2007 07:24 PM

    Loved this one!

  9. SouthparkPepperTahnan on Sep 26, 2007 07:29 PM

heh heh "that white weasel ate my daughter" heh heh

  10. FileDuckiedavey3 on Sep 26, 2007 07:33 PM

Wikipedia comes to the rescue again.

    Nice hypercross!

  11. FileRadishBetaPrime on Sep 26, 2007 07:46 PM

groan and laughed at the same time at the sarge chewing out the O clue.

Still don't get the white weasel clue

  12. FileBananabuggy on Sep 26, 2007 08:01 PM

Never mind. I just can't spell.

  13. Tanga-pink-avatarBananaMorganza on Sep 26, 2007 08:04 PM

I went through every clue twice, putting in any reasonable guess, until the theme clicked for me. After that it was easy and fun with the obvious website to guide me.

... and yes, I live in California.

  14. Tanga-pink-avatarBananaMorganza on Sep 26, 2007 08:05 PM

    [11] What's white and furry?

  15. FileRadishThosw on Sep 26, 2007 08:07 PM

[14] The yogurt in my refrigerator?

  16. Avatar_12-08Pancakesthreehojos on Sep 26, 2007 08:26 PM

My favorite clue is the guy yelling at the letter!!!!!
Just about peed my pants on that one.

  17. FileOrangeleukothea on Sep 26, 2007 08:55 PM

That was way too much fun!

  18. FileRocketBerix on Sep 26, 2007 09:09 PM

and it's even Linda Hamilton's birthday today... well when the puzzle was posted at least.

  19. Avatar_profileKiwiSilverSabre25 on Sep 26, 2007 09:16 PM

I call shenanigans on the first down! you can't have that symbol in a crossword puzzle. Other than that it was a great puzzle! The long one across in the middle gave it away for me!

  20. FileStrawberryclemon79 on Sep 26, 2007 10:50 PM

Now THAT was a good Hypercross.

(And I agree with the decree of Shenanigans. But the movie title DID specifically use that same symbol.)

  21. FileClockmust67 on Sep 26, 2007 11:40 PM

    the whiteweasel made my day.

  22. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Sep 27, 2007 01:07 AM

Groan (in a good way) on the weasel. Not that I got it right away. In fact, well after. After solving the Hypercross it was bugging me, so I had to google a bit until I came across the right word that unlocked it.

    Nice.

  23. FileTomatobcgrote on Sep 27, 2007 02:38 AM

Fun Puzz! Good theme, IMDB is my friend!

I dunno about shenanigans, a crossword puzzle can use whatever works. It IS correct to use it here given the theme and clue... Can't win for losing, hey murdoctor?

Me too, Morganza, I'm near LA... Doubt that it makes the puzzle any easier.

And I learned that 'Scavenger Hunt' was involved! I didn't remember that. Such a fun movie, and filmed in San Diego! Bonus!

  24. FilePumpkinimapuzzl on Sep 27, 2007 02:39 AM

FUn. Some good puns. The title and the long down entry in the middle pretty much gives up the theme. Then it's just fun playing with the rest of clues.

    Thanks.

  25. Avatar_profilePeachUethym on Sep 27, 2007 05:45 AM

The white weasel clue is the greatest in the history of Hypercross.

  26. Avatar_profileAcehighfloydelity on Sep 27, 2007 06:01 AM

I don't get the white weasel clue. I got the answer, I just don't get it.

  27. N1003868024_27949_9972BananaSchwade on Sep 27, 2007 06:06 AM

[26] I'm with you. I have no idea where that comes from.

I had a great time with this one. I loved the 'aha' moment for this puzzle.

  28. FilePepperChupper on Sep 27, 2007 06:36 AM

For those who don't understand the weasel clue, let's just say that of the 16 extant species currently classified in the genus Mustela, 10 have "weasel" in their common name. Among those that do not are the stoat or ________.

    I loved the clue, btw

  29. FileTomatoMurdoctor on Sep 27, 2007 06:49 AM

[19] In my book, shenanigans are a good thing. And that IS the correct title (as [20] and [23] pointed out), so I think it was a fair answer.

As for the white weasel... I actually used a very similarly-constructed clue for a previously-submitted hypercross that hasn't been selected yet, so to me it wasn't that "original"... but I'm glad it was so well-received (by those of you who "get it", anyway).

Personally, I'm proud of the top one across. Had to doctor up a real press release for Golden Grahams.

In any case, thanks for all the kind words. Glad you all enjoyed the puzzle.

  30. FileBananaethnosax on Sep 27, 2007 06:54 AM

Weasel clue: To understand it, do you have to have a certain kind of drawl when saying t'answer? I don't know, maybe t'ain't so, but you can try it and see what you think.

As for the "shenanigans," if you're talking about what I think, then I just want to put in my vote--I actually really like it when a number shows up in a hypercross. Don't know why it makes me happy, but I think it's fun.

  31. Head_shotBananajppe5 on Sep 27, 2007 12:27 PM

It took me a few answers before I got the theme, and then it was easy. Fun hypercross!

  32. PaxStrawberrymrsgottrocks on Sep 27, 2007 02:05 PM

Had some trouble with the first down; knew what the answer was but it didn't seem to take it. Then I realized I'd spelled another word wrong, so my first instinct on the first down was correct. Had the theme very early - this was a lot of fun!

  33. FilePlumsjlee on Sep 28, 2007 01:20 PM

[1] Gave me the theme. After that, it was all IMDB.

I didn't like the fishing rod one thought... it was the only one that required saying it out loud.

  34. Avatar_profilePearfreelancelot on Oct 05, 2007 09:31 PM

One-Down could also have been "End of Days" (but wasn't).

  35. Aug080195Eggplantgusssr on Mar 18, 2010 10:53 PM

    Yay IMDB!

  36. FileEggplanthankescu on Aug 27, 2011 11:27 PM
