  9. ShotziecBananaFlamingoNut on Aug 30, 2011 07:03 PM

  10. Avatar_profileCarrotmuffinhead80 on Aug 30, 2011 07:06 PM

I entered nothing and hit "submit", but that didn't work! Worth a try :)

Every clue is blank for me... I mean, every one.

[Edit: got it! What an 'aha', that was cool.]

  11. FileEggplantJohnS43 on Aug 30, 2011 07:03 PM

Well, there've been four solves, so someone must've figured it out.

  12. FileGarlicdharmaRN on Aug 30, 2011 07:03 PM

all blank squares for me also. any mods around? Sammy?

  13. Pacman2EggTheOneEye on Aug 30, 2011 07:03 PM

If every clue is just a white square, the puzzle is loading properly.

  14. FileCheeseburgerQurqirishDragon on Aug 30, 2011 07:03 PM

Very cute one. And yes, all the pictures are blank.

  15. Bp3Eggendel3 on Aug 30, 2011 07:11 PM

  16. Dsc00131GarlicRossmon on Aug 30, 2011 07:04 PM

    I really liked that one...

  17. 50s_womanCarrotpennyb9 on Aug 30, 2011 07:04 PM

I see the solves, but I don't know how!

  18. 50s_womanCarrotpennyb9 on Aug 30, 2011 07:04 PM

I see the solves, but I don't know how!

  19. FileGarlicsykottik on Aug 30, 2011 07:04 PM

    I think it's a blizzard

  20. DangermouseAceChefMaddog on Aug 30, 2011 07:04 PM

    Fun!

  21. Brownie_sundaeGarlicbrownie1 on Aug 30, 2011 07:05 PM

    I have all white squares!!!!!

  22. FileCheeseburgerQurqirishDragon on Aug 30, 2011 07:05 PM

The pictures are blank because the puzzle is OUT OF ORDER. So are the answers.

  23. Ted_doggRaspberrydmlafrance on Aug 30, 2011 07:05 PM

    WOW, I can't believe I got that... :)

  24. ShotziecBananaFlamingoNut on Aug 30, 2011 07:05 PM

    [23] Nobody likes a showoff ;)

  25. Nick_dress_blues_2Pancakesbitwisenot on Aug 30, 2011 07:05 PM

Very cool, thanks for making it!

  26. Poirot_smallPotatoelmward on Aug 30, 2011 07:06 PM

    Brilliant. Love it.

  27. Dumb02Garlicsammydb on Aug 30, 2011 07:06 PM

    ha nice [10].

    yep, all blank! enjoy!!

  28. FileTomatoat8ax on Aug 30, 2011 07:07 PM

Except ... well, it's the problem that cannot be named. How unlucky.

  29. FileCheeseburgerQurqirishDragon on Aug 30, 2011 07:08 PM

[27] I always wondered if someone would ever be too lazy to make pictures for one of these, but this is ridiculous, no?

  30. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Aug 30, 2011 07:08 PM

Yes, brilliant. Been awhile since I had to write everything down on paper and sort it all out for a hyper. I still can't believe that what I thought to try was right. So much fun! Thanks, sammydb!

  31. FileEggplantdturok on Aug 30, 2011 07:08 PM

    good one!!!

Not completely out of order though. Unlucky.

  32. Avatar_profilePotatoxanderphilip on Aug 30, 2011 07:08 PM

thanks 22, that did it for me

  33. Clematis_around_tree_cropped_12-22-2006-011Rocketkathy155 on Aug 30, 2011 07:08 PM

    I made a guess --- amazing --- 43rd 78 points YAY

  34. Untitled-1PumpkinAdamMcD on Aug 30, 2011 07:08 PM

Ooh, I *really* liked this puzzle sammy! Thanks!

...I'm extra excited because I almost never get top 20 on HC puzzles (they're my weakness), and I got top 20 on this and the other two puzzles tonight.

  35. FileGarlicMrPlow99 on Aug 30, 2011 07:33 PM

I tried padding whitespace into all the answers. That didn't work.

Is there a way to click 0 stars for the Fun rating?

EDIT: Got it with the salt. Still don't like it (for pretty much the same reason as [54] said).

  36. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Aug 30, 2011 07:10 PM

[31] LOL - Awesome observation! edit: I guess some found that comment too salty. I think it was probably only salty for people who already knew what to do, but I found your remark funny and I'm glad you made it. ;)

[35] The a-ha moment for this is really cool. Don't give up on the fun yet.

  37. Water_dropEggplantMrsH2Os on Aug 30, 2011 07:10 PM

Really enjoyed this one. Didn't take too long for the aha to kick in, then is was just a matter of keeping track of where I was.

  38. FileEggplantDeemiklos on Aug 30, 2011 07:15 PM

woohoo! top 100 in all three!
Great puzzle once I quit focusing on the pictures and looked at the title.

  39. Dumb02Garlicsammydb on Aug 30, 2011 07:10 PM

    [29] ha ha ha.

  40. Cutie_jillianPeppersuzique on Aug 30, 2011 07:11 PM

    Ahhh -- got it! Clever.

  41. HurdansmallGarlicdeg on Aug 30, 2011 07:12 PM

I liked it - great idea.
There was another one on a similar theme awhile ago.
For those who are lost, maybe this will help:
If this puzzle is out of order, it means there is an order that it's out of....

  42. Ratebeer2Raspberrybeerguy101 on Aug 30, 2011 07:12 PM

    Good AH HA moment..

  43. 1a1Sailboatbodhisattva on Aug 30, 2011 07:15 PM

Sweet! First time top 100 on all three puzzles!

  44. FileGarlicdharmaRN on Aug 30, 2011 07:16 PM

You solved this puzzle in 0 seconds and were the 96th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 25 points for solving this.

    meh.

  45. FileEggplanthankescu on Aug 30, 2011 07:16 PM

I guess the Inuit have at least 15 words for for snow...

[41] Yes, I recall doing one like this before.

  46. Art_land_of_free_eagleEggplantJWillOH on Aug 30, 2011 07:19 PM

Fun puzzle..... and I am no longer a potato! Yay!

  47. FilePlumjmsonic on Aug 30, 2011 07:19 PM

For those stumped... Since this puzzle lacks fifteen clues, what is the one thing that could be put in order?

  48. FileCheeseburgerQurqirishDragon on Aug 30, 2011 07:20 PM

    [34] [38] [43] congratulations on your achievements. I remember the first time I got all 3 in the top 100 / 20 / 10- Very good achievements.
I'm still hoping one day to get a triple 1st, but the best I've done is get a double 1st on a non-hyper day.

  49. FilePotatodedavis on Aug 30, 2011 07:23 PM

Apparently I was one of the few to get the theme of the bat. I think it was the number of three-letter answers that did it for me...

  50. Avatar_profileAppleBarry1214 on Aug 30, 2011 07:23 PM

what a surprise when it loaded.
but pretty cool puzzle. Mistakes took me over 100th tho'

  51. Brownie_sundaeGarlicbrownie1 on Aug 30, 2011 07:24 PM

Nice puzzle, but I thought something was messed up on this site again! Thank goodness the site is fine!

  52. 50s_womanCarrotpennyb9 on Aug 31, 2011 03:32 PM

    [47] - I have no idea. What?

[53] - Thanks - finally got to the "aha!" moment. Seems obvious once you get it!

  53. FileCheeseburgerQurqirishDragon on Aug 30, 2011 07:29 PM

[52] What is the one thing you can see in the clue list that can be ordered? Now, put them out of order.

  54. SlideuleSailboatDaSaintFan on Aug 30, 2011 07:35 PM

i got the theme right off (like [49] the number of short words gave it to me quickly)... but I've never been a fan of the 'non-solvable' from the picture clues Hypers,. unless it's due to a second step (see the infamous "April Fools' Day" puzzles)... anything that doesn't at least use the clues (even if it's only to define a related word...) defeats the purpose (IMO) of having the clues there in the first place. and gets away from how a Hypercross is defined (again, in my opinion) in Tanga.

  55. Brownie_sundaeGarlicbrownie1 on Aug 30, 2011 07:45 PM

[46] Tonight is a great night for you!!!

  56. BurdgernaBananaburdger on Aug 30, 2011 07:48 PM

eh, not too bad. Looks like I could have done really well if I had shown up earlier... again.

  57. FileGarlicdharmaRN on Aug 30, 2011 08:05 PM

[48] Double First on non-hyper day is pretty remarkable. Nice!

  58. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Aug 30, 2011 08:06 PM

[49][54] Whereas I got started with the longer answers, because once I had an inkling of what might work, they were the easiest ones to verify I was on the right track.

  59. MarkerryanCarrotryanker on Aug 30, 2011 08:11 PM

Actually, not the hardest Hypercross we've had. :-)

The aha came pretty quickly for me... the rest was a pleasant little puzzle.

  60. Hermit_crab-206Garlichwango on Aug 30, 2011 08:56 PM

Pity I didn't read comments sooner. I really thought it hadn't loaded right, and I've been hitting refresh every few minutes for quite a while now. Once I realized it had actually loaded right after all it wasn't too hard, and was fun.

  61. FilePotatojunderscore on Aug 30, 2011 10:22 PM

Silly. Not hard. Not fun. Let's not do this again.

  62. Buckin_on_the_patio_dscf3941_-_cropped___editedRadishIceCurler on Aug 30, 2011 10:26 PM

Darn. I've been having terrible load problems with my computer tonight, so I assumed that was what was happening here. So I left the tab open to do it's work and amused myself elsewhere and kept coming back here with not a single pic loading (or so I thought). I didn't read the comments because I didn't want to get hints until I tried it for myself. When I finally came back here after midnight and the pictures still weren't
'there' I was going to make a comment about my woes and discovered the comments saying the pics were supposed to look that way. I guessed right away what to do, but wasted all that time waiting.

I think maybe an 'out of order' sign on each one would have been beneficial, instead of a blank square. There seem to be problems mentioned every night where people are having load problems, so they wouldn't be able to tell the pictures were loaded, but just white.

  63. FilePumpkinRickj4029 on Aug 30, 2011 11:01 PM

    A Hypercross has pictures period.

    This is NOT a Hypercross.

  64. FileEggplantarcbat on Aug 30, 2011 11:17 PM

    Hypo-cross, maybe?

  65. Avatar_profileApplekenchaney on Aug 31, 2011 02:48 AM

The minimalist pictures are a fine assembly of clues to the solution. Good form.

  66. FileRocketlaurelg1 on Aug 31, 2011 04:43 AM

    Speechless, think I.

  67. Full-grown-pygmy-goatApplehorizon86 on Aug 31, 2011 06:22 AM

Ugh - almost gave up. Glad I didn't, though :)

  68. Avatar_profilePeachsinkingrocket on Aug 31, 2011 07:08 AM

    The White Puzzle

  69. FilePepperChupper on Aug 31, 2011 07:41 AM

I have to agree with [54] this seems a waste of the hypercross format. Would have been better as a OWW with a second step at the end to bring it together

  70. UturnPotatoSmithyP on Aug 31, 2011 07:50 AM

I had to read [22] comments before it clicked. I noticed the same thing [28] did when I was done.

  71. ErwinPepperTangaAl on Aug 31, 2011 08:34 AM

Very fun sammy! Wish I got here last night - the method came to me immediately.

  72. DangermouseAceChefMaddog on Aug 31, 2011 10:32 AM

Actually one of the answers is not out of order...

  73. Panda-flyGarlicpandapal on Aug 31, 2011 11:19 AM

Couldn't see it at all last night - but it clicked right away this morning!

  74. Avatar_profileStrawberrykjaeger on Aug 31, 2011 11:44 AM

    I liked this one

  75. FileKiwiconniebgood on Aug 31, 2011 01:03 PM

For what it's worth - I liked it too! AND it made a big impression even on those who didn't like it! Look at all those comments. . . Great job!

  76. Christopher_david_ryan_-_eyeGarlickc6201 on Aug 31, 2011 02:43 PM

    Meh

  77. Avatar_profilePeachAllenKll on Sep 01, 2011 06:38 AM

Stupid puzzle. Almost as bad as a OWW.

  78. Avatar_profilePotatoMemsochet on Sep 01, 2011 11:20 AM

    Lost!!!

  79. Avatar_profilePeachllamamancer on Sep 01, 2011 01:48 PM

Had to get this pure white problem in before Labor Day I guess.

  80. FilePumpkinimapuzzl on Sep 01, 2011 02:12 PM

Leaving the picture clue blank wasn't the best idea, IMO. I would have put a pound sign in each picture clue.

  81. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Sep 01, 2011 04:15 PM

[54] I actually considered saving this for next April Fools Day... but, Man, that's so, so far away, I just couldn't do that to Sammy.

[31] Hmmm... I could have sworn they were when I checked it. Sammy, did you edit this after the fact?

  82. FileCarrot12Buffalo on Sep 01, 2011 04:17 PM

    Good puzzle. I figure

  83. Avatar_profileCherriespickle on Sep 01, 2011 04:49 PM

    um????

  84. Avatar_profileCherriespickle on Sep 01, 2011 05:11 PM

can i get a clue here? anything?
got it. comment about 3 letter words helped. whyd it say "solved in 0 seconds?'
