After a quick look through and getting the theme straight away I knew only 1, yogis mate. lol
Obviously not my type of cross.
PS, lots of pandas share the theme. Pure guesswork.
Pass.
First down appears to have an extra letter????
Can't get first or second down, or last across
[2] Yeah, unless it's misspelled, there's an extra letter there.
[2] and [4] Fit it to the theme... I don't think it's the group, but their song.
Of course, I haven't finished solving it yet, so I could be wrong.
(I need help on the bottom two across ones).
For second to last across, see http://atv.disney.go.com/playhouse/allshows/
Any help on the first or second down would be nice
[6] Thanks.
First down, it's about a song, not the group.
Second down, his brother (I think) was in NKOTB. (I'm VERY embarrassed that I know that).
Oops... maybe you meant that thing on the dashboard, rather than the guy? I was wrong with the thing on the dashboard, so I need help on that one, too, now.
[5]Wrong down we were complaining about. Our complaint was yellow background beefcake image....
[5] D'oh! My mistake, it's the second one down that's giving me an extra letter.
[8] Ah, yeah, I'm embarrassed that I knew the correct spelling of that one... it isn't traditional. I think it might be how Dan Quayle would've spelled it, actually.
no clue on the emo band, and I'm uncertain on the spelling of some of those.
First down band - have it on the tip of my tongue, but stuck trying to remember them (or their songs)
Hello all
Well, it just goes to show that even with testing, errors still get through.
EDIT: NOW CORRECTED.....
[7] No, I got the thing on the dashboard (it's not "sue sue", if you remember the commercial). It was the beefcake i'm stuck on (the one you are referring to doesn't technically fit the theme, nor does it fit, but in light of [13] I guess it's correct).
[13] Go ahead and change it. Otherwise folks will be complaining all night long. Or do you intend to stay up 24 hours to remind folks?
[13] Actually it IS spelled correctly.
Ooops... my bad... Google kept changing it to the spelling you used when I typed it in. Not sure why.
[14] That's what I thought too--not only misspelled, but not fitting the theme. :(
As for the dashboard item, I found its name here: http://reviews.cnet.com/4370-3430_7-218-101.html
As for the leftmost down and the bottom across, I'm completely clueless, so I'm just waiting for some really helpful salt.
[16] Perhaps - and I haven't solved completely yet to find the correct spelling - but from what I think it is (might be) - seems pretty obscure and hard to find unless you are a fan with intimate knowledge.... ;) (Meaning - I haven't stumbled across this as the proper or correct spelling.)
[16] Not according to IMDB
For the leftmost down, even though none of them look alike, the name would imply that two of them look exactly alike (second word). Couple that with a fairly common last name (first word).
For the bottom across, even though they weren't related, they all claimed to share the same last name, which was the name of the band. Original punk band...
If I'm not mistaken, it's the band that recorded:
....hrm, as I typed it, I tried it and it fits....
they also have a song called
Tok Tok which would have fit better as the other one is less "themey".
Beefcake is corrected...
I repeat...beefcake is now corrected...
Wow, thats making me hungry (for cake)
okay, the song ISN'T lies lies lies, even though it almost fits.
[22] That did it. Thanks.
Is the song also the name of a sitcom with the Max Headroom guy? That's what I'm going with now, but I still don't know who "One of these guys" is.
[18] and [19] hence my edit of "ooops, my bad..."
[6] Thanks for help with that one. Now, any help with the masked baby? I guess having kids WOULD have paid off :)
[27] The baby is Incredible. (or one of them, anyway)
or watching the pixar movie
it's a good movie, you should watch it.
[20] Thanks thats the nudge that got it off the tip of my tongue....
[28], [29] Awesome! Thanks so much!!
stuck on pandas, diplomat and emos
and I'm about to get real salty if I can't get some help
any help on the clown and lion picture?
I've got answers, but something's wrong somewhere. Probably I picked the wrong panda (how many times have I said that?).
[32] I was stuck on the band too, but then I looked up a previous suggestion--"original punk band". The first result I found in Google for that phrase got me in the right direction.
strill can't get the first one down, any other help?
[33] see [6]
okay, thanks to my buds at puzzlers, I got the panda, and honestly, yeah....I wouldn't have EVER gotten that without being told what it was. It doesn't even show up on Wikipedia!
[23] They're gonna get you.... :)
Salt for the last one down, anyone? Please? :)
[39] You mean the stupid lollipops, or the ebony ewe?
and here I thought the plasmatics were the first punk band....
[40] I have the lollipops, thanks! It's the ewe.... I can't seem to think of anything that will fit....
42....have you any wool?
[43] That's what I tried, but it doesn't fit! Am I doing something wrong?
[44] Must be typing something wrong, because it sounds like you have the answer.
I finally got the points, after trying about four names for "one of these two". Not so much fun, but not as bad as an entire hypercross about one TV show.
And hey, isn't anyone going to ask tonight about why it says they're not going to save your answer? I feel a little let down whenever there's a hypercross without that comment. :)
LOL @ [46] :-D
Any salt on who the first across is??? I don't recognize him, and no amount of image searching for UN seems to help.
[37] how about the first letter of that panda name? I have tried 5 names and no dice.
Well, I figured out the theme and I have everything except the first two down clues.
Extremely frustrating when you have no idea who's in the pictures (as people have been saying on Tanga for about a year now!). I wouldn't mind giving up so much if I hadn't already solved the other 9 clues.
Finally. :)
[48] - try searching for "UN secretary general"
[48] The Animaniacs mention him in a song about the UN.....
[37] Yes it does! I read the whole part about zoos, and he's in there.... Lucky boy.
Yay!!! the image sizes are great! Thanks!
Boo!! I don't recognize 80% of the images - another impossible one to search for unless you know what you're looking, in which case you probably don't have to search.
Great idea for a theme though.
[52] Thanks! that did it.
[55] - glad I could help!
Glad the animaniacs can spell because I tried 6 panda names thinking that was where I was wrong, and the whole time I was spelling the UN guy wrong. "o" not "u"
any salt on the shirtless guy on the yellow background?
[52] Thank you!!
[58] he no longer works in the field where he got the name that fits this puzzle. He also "possesses the Nocturnal"
Liked everything but the 80's band. The name didn't fit and this is poor in its execution because of that fact. Put in something else in its place, since it does not follow suit with other clues. If it was not for [5], I would not have been able to finish this, as the name of what was shown (like the other 10 clues) did not fit.
I've got everything except for the beefcake guy...no clue even with the salt given!
[25] really helped me out with the song, thanks!
[62] - [7] is great salt for the beefcake. Go ahead... google/wiki it up... don't be afraid.
Can someone give a bigger nudge for the panda? That's gotta be the one I have wrong.
[65] it rhymes with what your telephone says. (not your cell phone)
The Panda is also the name of a Drawn Together character
[66] Thank you. That was actually the first one I tried in that spot, and just assumed it was my problem when told my answers were incorrect. Knowing that it was right forced me to find the real culprit, a misspelling of a long name. That'll teach me not to double check my web sources.
Wow, I needed the Great Salt Lake for this one. Way too many obscure pictures with no reference for figuring them out.
[69] On the other hand, I actually kinda liked this one (except the trial and error panda) for the very reason that it required everyone working together. At a certain point, I realized that I'd done all I could, and I sat back and waited for help from the group. Satisfying, in a different way than the wham-bam-get my points in three minutes.
Anyone jonesing for another puzzles?

I've got everything but the last one across ("one of these guys"). Could someone help?
I want to say that I really enjoyed this puzzle. Once I got the theme it was pretty easy to narrow down some of the pictures, knowing what they had to fit. Wish I'd been able to check here last night.
That band...emo?
[72] You WANNA BE SEDATED after working on this?
[72] The original US punk band. They all assumed a false surname (the same as the band itself).
Thank you [23] never would have gotten the first one without that salt!
The panda is tough to find and there are a lot of pandas that fit the criteria. It lived at the national zoo from 1972 until it died in 1992.
What a pain in the rear!!!!!! Thanks to all for the salt!
