Cool! My first 1st.
hmm, not a clue....
Nice and simple. Sort of.
Edit: and I earned my xylophone!
Very Cool!
That's a big accomplishment, [3]! Play us a tune. : )
That was kind of tough but a lot of fun. My geographical skills came in handy. #8 was the only one I did not know before.
Oh, those homophones will get me every time!
For some reason I can't get the first one to make sense... I've got 2-8... ugh.
I agree this was very cool and I knew what to do on all but the last almost immediately. But unfortunately, I had to brute force #8 with a crossword solver and a list of the theme. Can someone please TG me an explanation?
the last clue doesn't make any sense to me. i got it by virtue of online search of the topic combined with the letters i already had
EDIT: okay, now I see it. I was initially stuck trying to shoehorn a computer architecture meaning for the highlighted word.
[9] Done!
[8] you might need to shift your thinking a bit
nice puzzle! i took way too much time trying to figure out #8. duh!
Number 8 tripped me up a bit, but after reviewing the two letters I knew were correct, it finally hit me. Thanks Sammydb.
I'm with [6], though I just tried what fell out for #8, and it worked!
#8 is not clicking for me
just don't get #8
[16][17] look at your answer for #1, then look at #8
Thanks for the TG explanation, Philana. Makes perfect sense now. :) Loved it.
[18] I don't think that comment is going to help them much. I wish I had thought of trying what [14] did. You might try that. Look at the letters you have from crossings, study the clues that should correspond to those letters, and see if you can figure out what he's telling you from that.
[8][16][17] Just shift your thinking a bit, but not your typing as you would be yelling at us
You might also try thinking about your shifting
grrr...cant find my error
:::groan::: 101...dang it..lol
Clue #8 has me baffled. The rest was fun.
[18] no joy....
[20] well that's what helped me. answered #1, went back to #8, and realized what needed shifting!
Not seeing the last clue

Took me a while to catch on.... then loved it!!! Very Cool twist, sammydb! ;)
[12] See, I got the last one. It just took me a minute to figure out precisely what clue we used to get the answers.
Sailed through ok except for 8. Still don't have it. What am I missing?
have everything filled in and looks proper I am missing something
OK, so I am too negative, but finally got it and really didn't care for it....
I've shifted until the cows come home, looking at clue #1 for inspiration.....no luck
Got it with help....I ***STILL*** do not know how you would ever get the answer to #8....sorry but too vague a puzzle....not fun.
Why have a missing letter in each clue and not use it to solve the last one? Not good puzzle planning.
You are a freaking genius!! You solved this puzzle.

don't like the way the last clue is done due to the fact that no matter if you "shift" either the obvious letter selection or the not so obvious letter collection both can work only one is actually a country, but overall a challenging good puzzel
* puzzle *
well there's really only one way to "shift" from the ANSWER to #1.
that goodness for crossword solvers - wouldn't have gotten number 8 with out it.
i didn't understand the shift and even after getting it right i don't understand the shift.
Got the answer....don't understand the shift. It was such a nice puzzle, but I think it was ruined by 8 because there is no aha moment. Even Sonjahi had to get an explanation! Is there something clever here that some of us are missing?
anyone want to pm some saltier comments? or let me pm you what i am trying to put in and you can tell me where i am a moron?
NM, i got it. the "moving your pinkie" comment, not helpful.
If you don't understand the shift.... try moving your left pinky up a bit and think about it again.
While I know what I did I don't understand what #1 is looking for... #8 may be wrong too -- I think I shifted using the letters in place, but it's a nonsense answer. (EDIT - I was 'shifting' by taking first letters from clues 2-7, from bottom to top---fits the existing letters-- but didn't make a city name)
EDIT - Now I think I have #1 - but I definitely don't have #8 hmm
EDIT - solved/posted
[40] I now know how the answer to #8 works (bad as it is), and your salt doesn't really help....as in anything mentioning a typewriter keyboard.
Do not try to move your finger up or down (or left/right) from a letter on the keyboard to get to another letter. This is not the solve method.
MAJOR SALT
=============
People....use the FIRST LOGO shown in each of the puzzle clues....then move off from the capital (or capitol).
Doing that ONCE in the RIGHT way each time should do it.
(I used to work for Avis....we're #2....we try harder......how's that for product/letter placement?)
THANK YOU [42]
I thought #8 was clued just fine. Since major salt was already posted, what is the opposite of the answer to #1? That is the "shift"! Take the first one of those in each clue and you get the answer... Pretty straightforward to me once figured out.
iT MAKES SENSE TO ME. yOU DON'T GET *? dO EVERYTHING.
Then you should get it TOO.
You know what I hate about hypercross? While I normally can solve 98% of them, the 2% that I can't, well I never know what I have wrong... EDIT - Then I hit reality and see feel stupid. P&S
I can't seem to figure out #1...I figured out #8 fairly easy but nothing is making since for #1. please HELP!!!
EDIT:DUH!!! I figured it out
No clue where to begin on this at all. I'm posting in the hopes of a magical post and solve :)
I dunno.. i kind of thought #8 was pretty straightforward myself in what it was saying... Admittedly, it's one I hadn't heard of
[50] Same, but there were 3 I hadn't heard of!
Both #8 and #1 are pretty well clued. Still, took me a bit to get #8.
I have NO CLUE what to do on this! First time to try this, but its like learning a foreign language.....
Any help!?
Great one!
Not taking the answers I know the solve method....
Finally solved this but really don't know how #8 fits. I got it with a crossword solver. #1 was easy enough.
