good puzzle. 27th. highest ive gotten yet!
I thought this was going to have to do with a Guns n Roses song. Can't figure out the theme or #4
Edit: finally got it
Having that last clue so close to V-day is just evil!
Thank you [3]. I couldn't see what I was doing wrong. Solved it from scratch 3 times!
Why the letter in the corner of each pic?
(They appear to be additional clues, but why?)
[2] #4 (and the theme) was really tough for me, for some reason. I pulled up pictures of horse tackle parts and it wasn't there. I finally went to OneLook.com and put the letters I knew and ?'s for what I didn't and got a short enough list (when filtered for 'only common words') that I figured it out.
And then you should see certain similarities in the words to help you with the theme, although you might have to mix 'em up a bit first.
[5]
I didn't figure that out either. Maybe someone can send me a TG if you can't explain it here?edit: I just figured it out. If you've solved the words, try taking a look at that letter in the answer word and do some math. (Don't want to say more until there are over 100 solves). You also might note that all the words are the same length...
I think I have all the clues and the answer, but it's not taking. Anyone willing to look at my answers and find my mistake?
Edit: nvm. I got it. I agree--the last clue is evil.
I liked it (once I figured out the theme, of course) - until then, I didn't know what in the world I was doing.
yeah, would have been better without multiple valid anagrams....
[10] I would tend to agree but that's where the title comes in, I think. Only one really answers the question well.
Thank god it wasn't texas lol.
That was just cruel....
[7] Good point on the letters in the corner. That's actually very elegant.
And if it wasn't clear from my earlier post, you can totally solve this without worrying about the letters in the corner of each pic. I totally did.
I have to remind myself to read the titles. I also missed the title with the "words that make kids snicker" puzzle, and solved it wondering all the while what these words could possibly have in common.
lol @ [12] . Actually there is one of those in Texas..(and I know, because my father's side of the family lived near it) I just didn't think about that til just now :)
Got here late...otherwise would have done well, since there were less than 100 solves when I got here 25 minutes late.
I also didn't recognise what the letter were until I got to the last clue, and started looking for a theme.
Sweet!
Fun-you almost broke my heart!
[3] et al... In addition to the title, it would be safe to assume - after having #14 in there - that the final clue wouldn't just be *that* again.
[20] But then what was that clue asking for if not the Valentine's day answer? It was nothing but a trick not a clue.
[21] I see where people are going, I think. But I didn't see that as an answer at first. When I looked up all the possible anagrams, I saw that as a choice and saw the right answer as a choice and wondered which it was and then thought of the title and thought only the right one made since. All I'm saying is that if I didn't consider that one as "fitting", then it's entirely possible that DSF didn't see it either, that it wasn't intended as a trick at all, even if it ended up being one. Some of our red herrings are actually pure accidents.
0 seconds = too long to register!
[6] Thanks for that site! Sure helped me out on #4.
This was the first one I have done!!! Loved it!
And don't forget about this classic - sort of in the same vein...

Ok I'm still not getting the last one...any help out there still?
NM..All it takes is asking for help and I get it!
The valentine's day relation was just coincidence... this puzzle had been sitting in queue for a couple of months (I think.. don't remember the submission date), so the valentines issue just sort of "happened".. (and no I didn't even think about the 2 word possibility, with clue #14 being a word already in the puzzle, so it just never occurred to me)
i should've learned more about horses
