Never heard of 2 of those. Fun none the less.

[3] Well, you certainly have the right avatar for tonight's puzzles.
Hope everyone enjoys the pictures of my little guy!
Who let the dogs out? Scoutmom did, apparently!
Nice set of puzzles...very enjoyable!
People here at tanga are WAY too fast, so I got only in the 50th place approx. on each of the 3 puzzles.
Scoutmom, tonight's triptych made me happier than a dog with two tails! :) Thanks!!!
nice set
104th ain't bad considering I did this on my phone on way home from airport, and completed other two!! Not bad for this old' dawg!!
Sh!t, 5 took me FOREVER, but nice puzzle(s)
Is that your pup? It's really cute!
Very nice trio...and love the star of the show!
[11] Yes, that is Cipher - a Belgian Malinois
For those who are curious about the title (and not a child of the 70s)

[9] Hopefully you weren't driving?! :)
Very cute! Just wish I'd been here sooner........ Doggone it!!!
How about some salt for 5?
[16] You might be used to seeing/hearing the phrase past tense (I was - even though Google gives this version WAY more hits than what I was trying to make it).
What do you say about some place that has become all run down? "That place has...." (see, past tense, but hey...)
The dad comment in the clue. Well, if you want to tell someone to move closer to something, what would you say to them? Don't know if any of that helps. That one was the toughest for me too but it's hard to hint at.
[16] Every time I've ever heard this phrase, it had an extra "ne" on the first word. However, I'm looking at a list of dog idioms that has this one verbatim.
Never heard of half of these
This was fun. I found the other puzzles pretty easy.
Never heard of #6, but [18]'s remark got me searching in the right place.
Finally! A night I don't go to bed frustrated with the puzzles!
Yay! I finally got it! My screen kept erasing answers but I got it! #5 was a doozy for me
[17] [18] If something is already in a state of disrepair or ruin, the phrase is always past tense.
If it is in the process of headING there, it would use the present participle.
I don't see how it could ever be used the way it is in the puzzle.
Apparently #6 must be a foreign phrase as I've never heard of it either.
This was very difficult since it certainly had nothing to do with the fact that the animal has a stick in its mouth, is on a leash or laying down.
The phrase is usually associated with the "ritz" and with the present participle of the word in the picture.
Woof!
I liked all 3 puzzles, great job!
Great puzzle. There were one or two there I'd not heard before, so I learnt something too, which is always good.
[13] What odd timing. First of all, lovely dog. He looks really neat.
But what surprises me is that on Christmas night, my mother-in-law was trying to tell us about a particular dog, and she couldn't think of what it was. She just KNEW that I'd know it, and tried to describe it to me. She finally found it in a dog book, and showed me a picture and a description of a Belgian Malinois.
I'm fairly certain that I've never heard of that breed before, and now, just a few days later, you're showing me several pictures of yours. Like I said, odd timing.
