OK, this is absurd. I've no desire at all to guess which particular synonym of "mildly but not overly pleased" goes with which kinda-wavy smile, especially with so few crossing letters for most words. Let me know how it comes out, folks, but count me out.
One of my first puzzles, sorry it wasn't to everybody's liking. I used one of those automagic web sites to arrange the words--in the future I'll try to pack them more tightly by hand. Sorry for the tedious typing--if it helps there was lots more of the same in the construction process :-)
This is also a good place to add in the deserved copyright (I hope that was fair use...) to Creative Therapy, Associates.
I didn't think this was a bad puzzle at all, although some of them were hard to figure out.
The one complaint I DO have with this puzzle, and other puzzles we've had recently, is having to scroll down to get to the word, then scroll back up to see the picture. (In other words, it's too tall.)
I'm really surprised they let this one through. Guess they hadn't seen that chart before. I knew it looked familiar (my cousin went through some therapy), but I couldn't place it. Without that image, this is impossible to do.
I think for me, the problem with this one is simply that the faces don't clearly say one thing or another to me. Before looking at any salt, I went through all of them and got about four, all of which ended up being correct. But I got little satisfaction out of getting those correct, and then just had to look up the answer key to get the rest. I'm all for clues that can be read multiple ways, but this one had no joy in the deciphering.
As for [23], clearly you just need to get a taller monitor. :)
And for DNewfield--keep creating. I find the more puzzles I create, the easier it is for me to come up with what I think are really intriguing themes and clues. It's a skill that gets clearer and better the more often you try.
[29] I second your final paragraph. I too am a freshman puzzle artist. I am learning quite a bit from the upper classmen (some are kinder than others). Maybe in a few months I will write an article on the lessons I have learned.
We got about half of them, then started making a few of these faces ourselves and gave up.
[35] helped me find a reference that I'm using to go through it now, but it's really not that enjoyable. Nice idea, but the pictures chosen should have been more selective to only use the ones that were distinctive. More interlocking on the words would have helped, too... not just with cutting down the real estate within the puzzle, but also to help clue the harder ones. For example, the far right down clue could have been any of a number of different things... and there was only one letter to work with, if you got the intersecting answer -- which was another ambiguous answer of its own.
Wow, I actually had one of these magnets... unfortunately, I don't have it with me right now, so I had to do some research. At least I knew what to Google... unlike many here.
Try this for salt:

[1] Too funny!
overwhelmed!
Holy ____!
Finally found the right one. It's called a Mood Magnet.
We don't have one but a friend has it on their fridge.
This would take me hours to figure out.
[5] thanks john!
remember to include the misspelling.
hmmm, I didn't notice any misspelling
nor did I...dang...now to go through them all and try to find the misspelling.

This is a bad choice for a puzzle.... I got it right away due to owning one of these magnets... but without one as a key, there would be no hope.
throw in towel!
Basically an exercise in typing...

I can't find the misspelling.

cute, but way too long, and with the salt already given it becomes a chore, not a puzzle
Unhappy...bored...disgusted...
This is not a puzzle but a chore. Without a guide it is just a guessing contest. Use only a few of the more obvious
ones and it might have some merit.
Count me among the "not wanting to look up every picture" people.
[14],[17],[18],[19] - amen!
This is simply using someone else's work. No, it's not fair use.
I hate to complain, but it's not a puzzle. At all.
Ugh. I looked them all up...
and there's a spelling error?!

ok so this mistake? how do i submit the answers?
Note to hypercross puzzle creators. Less is more.
im guessing copy protected images.
[24] It's a bug they haven't fixed yet. The error is incorrect. Your answers were submitted and you got your points.
This one's easier to use. Paste it into Paint, Stretch/Skew it by 150%. Not too bad to find them all.

Too much effort for 2 points which didn't make it fun for me. I figured out the theme but irritated by the pictures.
Please do create new puzzles but more original.
I haven't even figured out how the creating of the hypercrosses works so good effort :)
Glad I could find the source. If I made any of those faces associated with those emotions, I would be locked up tight!
I was like "this looks familiar" before it hit me - I HAVE THIS T-SHIRT LOL!
I just took it out of the closet and filled it in using that. Easiest 2 points ever. :-D
It really helps on this one when you remember seeing it in someones cube at work... (and then you go grab it!)

The author and editor should be top across.

This might have been fun if it were about 1/3 as big.
I got one and then read the comments and figured no sense going on. For me, emoticons or smileys would have been easier ;-)
I couldn't never have done it without the references people have put it. Nice idea, but poorly executed. The faces aren't distinct enough.
Where is the misspelling?
Wow, I actually had one of these magnets... unfortunately, I don't have it with me right now, so I had to do some research. At least I knew what to Google... unlike many here.
Anyone still struggling...
Salt = Google + "magnetic mood meter"
I have the shirt in french which didn't help a lot...
