Oh, good, well, maybe you can clue me in?? Using phonespell.org doesn't give me anything usable. Neither does using the numbers as though I were texting.
[14] I went to the website(s). I entered the phone number given. I got nothing that even remotely resembled a word. I did get a couple of word fragments, but nothing long enough to fit in the space provided, and with a number left over. And no, I did not get anything that would point me to a holiday either.
Edit: NM. I reentered and got a date for the first one. Gonna try the rest. But I had entered them on both sites and gotten the same gibberish before.
I'm sure this was a little bit of fun for people with fast internet connections, but for those of us with dialup, waiting 3-5 minutes for each number to be searched and returned is beyond tedious. It has not been an hour since I posted my last comment and I have finally managed to come up with an answer for each number. And, of course, it says I'm wrong. This stopped being fun about 50 minutes ago. (And I'm being generous with the time.)
Gambia???
I think I have all but #13 and Wikipedia is no help. Any clues on that one?
Duh, nm, I got it....
png images again - can't enlarge them so I can't solve. Anyone want to TG me with the clues??
Stuck on 5 & 13.
I'll post the clues here for anyone else who can't read them.
[5] 13 is year-specific. You might find this page helpful: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_holidays_of_the_United_States

[8] Try the website in the puzzle's title.
[6] Thanks, that's what I needed.
[8] Use the link provided at the top of the page.
[9] phonespell.org is the same thing. But I tried both.
http://www.butlerwebs.com/holidays is the website I used for some of the more unique ones.
Use what you are given to find what they represent.
# 4 is eluding me...

[15] Use the first two as numbers, then the last 4 for a word. Google that word and you should have what you're looking for. Think Civil War era.
[15] #4 tends to be celebrated more in some communities than others.
[17] and [18] thanks! That got me there. As stated, doesn't seem to be celebrated much in my neck of the woods.
[7] Scoutmom, thanks very much for posting the numbers for us who can't read the PNG files. You're always so helpful, and really fast!!!
