  4. FilePumpkinJohn on Oct 20, 2007 07:11 PM

  5. Avatar_profilePancakesrandomcyn on Oct 20, 2007 07:12 PM

    Neat concept!

  6. SouthparkPepperTahnan on Oct 20, 2007 07:24 PM

Yeah, this was very nicely done (shame about the long down one not quite working the same way).

  7. FileBananaethnosax on Oct 20, 2007 07:28 PM

Not bad. Y'know, there's no limit on the number of answers you can put into a hypercross, so I might've added a few more while you're on a roll here. And I agree, the long one down should've been more clever (tomato character + pickle + N--something like that?).

Incidentally, the one with 2000lbs. is not John Waite. :)

  8. AvatarApplebagherra on Oct 20, 2007 07:29 PM

I don't get it, the last names fit in some, but not others, what am I missing?

  9. AvatarApplebagherra on Oct 20, 2007 07:31 PM

    never mind, I got it

  10. Avatar_profileGrapesmelantha on Oct 20, 2007 07:31 PM

I'm definitely missing something here. I've figured out all the names, but can't figure out how to fit them in. Maybe I'm just tired.

  11. FilePumpkinJohn on Oct 20, 2007 07:32 PM

[7] It's nothing to do with TUNNEL either :)

  12. 1212824135_mDuckiecruncha on Oct 20, 2007 07:35 PM

  13. FileAppleTWhitsett on Oct 20, 2007 07:40 PM

Any help with the candies? I'm stuck on that one.

  14. FileAceSolar_Penguin on Oct 20, 2007 07:40 PM

I would like some salt on the photo as well.

  15. Avatar_profileGrapesRubble98 on Oct 20, 2007 07:42 PM

i have all but the m&m's

  16. FileAppleTWhitsett on Oct 20, 2007 07:42 PM

The guy in the black & white photo is known for politically charged music, but not submarines.

  17. 1212824135_mDuckiecruncha on Oct 20, 2007 07:43 PM

    Thanks

  18. FileAceSolar_Penguin on Oct 20, 2007 07:46 PM

    Thanx

  19. FileAppleTWhitsett on Oct 20, 2007 07:48 PM

  20. Avatar_profileCarrotalchemist on Oct 20, 2007 07:49 PM

  21. Avatar_profileGrapesRubble98 on Oct 20, 2007 07:51 PM

  23. FileRocketBearcat89 on Oct 20, 2007 07:54 PM

Nice. Gary Lee Weinrib and Alex Zivojinovich would approve.

  24. Avatar_profileOnionmtnestersoon on Oct 20, 2007 07:55 PM

never mind. I said it out loud and got it

  25. FileEggplantunilab98 on Oct 20, 2007 07:56 PM

I dont get the theme at all.

  26. FileEggplantunilab98 on Oct 20, 2007 07:56 PM

I get the names but don't know how to make them fit.

  27. FileRocketBearcat89 on Oct 20, 2007 08:00 PM

[22] Is that 2000 lb. weight special in any way?

  28. FileRadishmhuber on Oct 20, 2007 08:18 PM

    unilab98
    you and me both...help?

  29. FileClockmust67 on Oct 20, 2007 08:30 PM

  30. FileCheeseburgerslokay on Oct 20, 2007 08:35 PM

Can someone give a little salt?
    Please

  31. FileAppleqwertyca on Oct 20, 2007 08:38 PM

What's the one with the toilet and the bobcat on the mountain?

  32. MePumpkinMustangChick72 on Oct 20, 2007 08:40 PM

    cougar?

  33. Avatar_profileCarrotalchemist on Oct 20, 2007 08:42 PM

[31] Use a slang term for the toilet, and another name for the mountain lion.

  34. FileAppleqwertyca on Oct 20, 2007 08:48 PM

[32][33] Thanks guys. What about the black and white photo?

[30] Marion Morrison sounds a little sissy to you, no?

  35. MePumpkinMustangChick72 on Oct 20, 2007 08:47 PM

I know all the nams except the photo but they do not fit in the blanks.....HELP!?!??! or atleast a hint :)

  36. FileAppleqwertyca on Oct 20, 2007 08:48 PM

[35] Read my comment in 34.

  37. Avatar_profileRadishRastus on Oct 20, 2007 08:58 PM

A lot of the names need an extra letter.

No one has said where this comes from.

  38. FileAppleqwertyca on Oct 20, 2007 09:09 PM

    [37] Read [34].

Can someone pls salt the black and white photo man?

  39. Avatar_profileRadishRastus on Oct 20, 2007 09:14 PM

Well I'm not geting it. For example the bottom one across. I got the clue, but this does not have an extra letter.

  40. FileAppleqwertyca on Oct 20, 2007 09:17 PM

[39] Did you even wiki marion morrison?

  41. FileRadishBetaPrime on Oct 20, 2007 09:18 PM

2000 lb, look at the shape of the black background too. That tripped me up a bit first. Toilet is used same way as in another clue.

  42. Avatar_profileAppletuneloon on Oct 20, 2007 09:20 PM

my first posted crossword, hope it was enjoyable. I know I had fun putting it together. Oh yeah, and my screen name is somewhat fitting for this puzzle.

I wont give any other clues, as there are plenty of others who can help.

  43. FileAppleqwertyca on Oct 20, 2007 09:30 PM

[42] tuneloon I like ur puzzle, but for the life of me I have no idea who the black and white dude is. Can u salt me pls?

  44. Avatar_profileRadishRastus on Oct 20, 2007 09:33 PM

[40] ok fine. I didn't because I thought I knew the name. I see now that I didn't know it , but I should have.

    I'll try this again. Thanks.

  45. Avatar_profileAppletuneloon on Oct 20, 2007 09:59 PM

[43] he wrote Jimi Hendix's only top 40 single.

  46. FileAppleqwertyca on Oct 20, 2007 10:12 PM

[45] OMG that's ___ _____?!?!?!? WOW. I've heard OF him, but never heard any of his music or seen him.

  47. Avatar_profileAppletuneloon on Oct 20, 2007 10:16 PM

[46] You should give him a listen. Probably one of the greatest modern songwriters. My wife doesn't like to listen to him, cuz his voice isn't easy on the ears, but she likes his songs, especially when someone else is singing them!

  48. FileAppleqwertyca on Oct 20, 2007 10:17 PM

Lol yes, that's one of the things about being young. I grew up listening to the Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys and then Britney.

  49. FileRadishBetaPrime on Oct 20, 2007 10:38 PM

any common misspelling? I checked each answer twice but still not right.

  50. FileAppleqwertyca on Oct 20, 2007 10:40 PM

    [49] Read [34].

  51. FileRadishBetaPrime on Oct 20, 2007 10:51 PM

I got the theme of the puzzle and have everything filled out. But something is not quite right.

  52. FileAppleqwertyca on Oct 20, 2007 11:27 PM

[51] Wikipedia gave me all the correct spellings. Try double-checking?

  53. Club_liverpoolAppleJLRobert on Oct 21, 2007 12:13 AM

[48] The times, they are a-changin'.

  54. Sc002a57f6Pumpkinrunart on Oct 21, 2007 03:55 AM

Wow, I knew almost all of these except DB. It defintely helps to be old.

  55. Avatar_profileRocketgreenie on Oct 21, 2007 04:57 AM

Wow, I am kind of stunned. I consider the guy in the black and white photo the greatest artist of the last 50 years, and that is an iconic photo of him. Just spent a couple of hours (again) talking about him last night. And some of you don't even recognize him?

Very nice puzzle, by the way. Once I got the theme (which that guy made me realize), I got most of them straight off.

  56. FileBananaethnosax on Oct 21, 2007 05:16 AM

One thing about the black and white photo guy--he ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more. (maybe because he senses that a hard rain's a-gonna fall)

  57. FileRadishThosw on Oct 21, 2007 06:52 AM

Okay. That was not only fun, but allowed me to expend all the trivia I had in my head. The only one I had to look up was the second left down, as I had never actually bothered to find out.

  58. FileRocketBerix on Oct 21, 2007 07:33 AM

I'm just not getting the 2000 lbs and toilet What era is this person from? I know what 2000 pounds is also known as and I'm assuming the toilet has the same use from the bobcat one, but all I get is a place where you put prisoners in a castle.

EDIT: And never mind...shapes are hard....(duh)

  59. Avatar_profileWatermelonCaptainSemantic on Oct 21, 2007 09:25 AM

[32] Oh, thank you so much. I needed that hardcore.

This was a great puzzle, one of my favs so far!

  60. Avatar_profileStrawberryjenindallas on Oct 21, 2007 09:54 AM

I was trying to figure out what the bottom picture was (the one between the Italian statue and the video game player), and one of my favorite Hunky Dory songs came on the iTunes! Seriously--what a co-inky-dink!

  62. FileDuckieescKey on Oct 21, 2007 02:42 PM

Dang! I got them all but it wouldn't save it. How come?

  63. FileBananaethnosax on Oct 21, 2007 03:12 PM

[62] Tanga.com rejects every 100th person who submits the correct answers. I'm sorry, but it seems that today was just not your day. Try the new puzzle tonight and see if your luck improves.

    :)

  64. 545840Strawberrydcwhitney on Oct 21, 2007 03:45 PM

I have everything but the cat. I have the toilet part of it, I think. I can't think of any famous people that would fit. Salt?

  65. PirateleadfootPumpkinleadfoot on Oct 21, 2007 03:48 PM

Other names for the cat are
    mountain lion, puma, panther...

  66. 545840Strawberrydcwhitney on Oct 21, 2007 03:50 PM

[65] Thanks, looked at wiki again. I guess I'm too young to know him by his old name.

  67. FilePotatoDevin8r on Oct 21, 2007 06:17 PM

A definite wikifest, but a fun one. I was proud to know four of them without looking them up!

  68. FilePotatoDevin8r on Oct 21, 2007 06:17 PM
