    Nice one!

And first to complete by the completion count.

Minor salt: one of the answers uses the popular spelling not the technically correct spelling.

  2. House_cast_3BananaBalzac on Oct 25, 2007 07:14 PM

    Well I guess I'm 2nd.

  3. FilePotatoDrParty06 on Oct 25, 2007 07:15 PM

hmm everything but the last one.

  4. SouthparkPepperTahnan on Oct 25, 2007 07:18 PM

    9th, apparently. Fascinating, and well-executed.

  5. Avatar_profileRocketUbiDubi on Oct 25, 2007 07:18 PM

    Blanking on the final answer.

  6. FileStrawberrybizarrojoe on Oct 25, 2007 07:22 PM

I guessed at the final answer. The rest of the puzzle didn't seem to have anything to do with it.

  7. Avatar_profileBananablakeapeterso on Oct 25, 2007 07:26 PM

Any salt on the last one?

  8. Avatar_profileRocketUbiDubi on Oct 25, 2007 07:28 PM

Well, if I didn't have a misspelling up in the main part of the puzzle, I would have gotten this a while ago.

  9. FileBananamcsemcclain on Oct 25, 2007 07:28 PM

this puzzle is madness! lost on last one...what is going on here?

  10. Avatar_profileOrangejweldin11 on Oct 25, 2007 07:29 PM

Lost on the last one as well. Any salt?

  11. Avatar_profileKiwithies on Oct 25, 2007 07:30 PM

Not sure why the last one is down there. No connection to anything else that I can see, although maybe I'm just missing it.

  12. FileClockmust67 on Oct 25, 2007 07:30 PM

I haven't got the compass and girl. Any help?

  13. Avatar_profileKiwithies on Oct 25, 2007 07:32 PM

On the last one, the symbol could also be & instead of +. A read of the wikipedia entry got me there, although the answer doesn't logically follow from the clue for me.

  14. Avatar_profilePancakesrandomcyn on Oct 25, 2007 07:33 PM

I guessed on the final word too. No idea why it's the answer.

  15. Avatar_profileKiwiyendi on Oct 25, 2007 07:33 PM

Easy and fun, but the theme only seems to apply to the last answer.

For those needing salt on it, Google is your friend. Same applies to the compass and girl (although those of us with daughters who went through a Sailor Moon phase won't need to search).

  16. BeerAcejaniebellboo on Oct 25, 2007 07:34 PM

Wikipedia led me to the answer on the last one. Iridium plus...

  17. Avatar_profileKiwithies on Oct 25, 2007 07:34 PM

[12] the text underneath her picture should get you what you need

  18. MeGrapesgahndalph on Oct 25, 2007 07:35 PM

    very cylindrical

  19. TommyStrawberryTommyTutone on Oct 25, 2007 07:37 PM

got it, but no clue on the significance of the final clue. Wiki did go a long way to solving it though.

  20. Avatar_profileAcenekeel on Oct 25, 2007 07:39 PM

Why do you have to do all the words on top to get the answer on bottom?

  21. FileAppleLegomancer on Oct 25, 2007 07:41 PM

    [13] There's a reason it's + instead of &.

    Well done!

  22. FileEggRPardoe on Oct 25, 2007 07:48 PM

Using an ampersand (&) won't work for the intended method. The indicated symbol has a use with the completed spiral.

  23. Avatar_profileGrapesmelantha on Oct 25, 2007 07:53 PM

Easy to solve, but I have no idea what the last answer has to do with anything.

  24. FileRocketArchangel on Oct 25, 2007 08:05 PM

Any salt from the people who think this is easy to solve?

  25. FileRocketfeydjm on Oct 25, 2007 08:05 PM

Any other salt out there for the final clue at the bottom? I've tried wikipedia, but I don't know what I'm looking for because nothing comes up as an exact match for the search.

  26. FileDuckieescKey on Oct 25, 2007 08:07 PM

can't figure out the last one????

  27. FileBananamcsemcclain on Oct 25, 2007 08:07 PM

my ass this is easy!! i'm over here googling seamice and skigloos. WTF?

  28. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Oct 25, 2007 08:23 PM

The + part is cool, but unfortunately doesn't really lead to an obvious answer. Neat idea, though.

  29. FileRocketfeydjm on Oct 25, 2007 08:31 PM

[28] Any help for those of us who don't understand what to do with it?

  30. Avatar_profileKiwiKMP on Oct 25, 2007 08:38 PM

    Wow.... that was rich

  31. Avatar_profileRadishRastus on Oct 25, 2007 08:43 PM

    [29]

You need to apply a pattern to the puzzle.

If that is not enough salt, I'll be back.

  32. FilePancakesjmcintyre on Oct 25, 2007 08:43 PM

    I liked it!

  33. FilePeachstormthearmada on Oct 25, 2007 08:54 PM

    hmm

  34. FileRocketfeydjm on Oct 25, 2007 08:48 PM

    [31] Thanks

  35. FileGarlicBlueDevilDucky on Oct 25, 2007 08:49 PM

[27] mcsemcclain check your answer on the compass one

  36. FileRocketfeydjm on Oct 25, 2007 08:49 PM

[33] Wikipedia is your friend. Use all of the clues and you will find what you need.

  37. FileBananamcsemcclain on Oct 25, 2007 08:54 PM

omg...the sailor moon got me....got it

  38. FilePeachstormthearmada on Oct 25, 2007 08:54 PM

someone doesn't know their cardinal directions...

  39. FileBananamcsemcclain on Oct 25, 2007 08:55 PM

we need to go to mariner's academy you douche

  40. FileBananamcsemcclain on Oct 25, 2007 08:57 PM

me and stormthearmada actually put SEami. we are still laughing

  41. FileGarlicBlueDevilDucky on Oct 25, 2007 09:08 PM

[40] Sadly, I did, too. Thought that I had the bottom answer wrong for about 10 minutes.

  42. FileRocketArchangel on Oct 25, 2007 09:14 PM

OH. MY. GOD. I had the bottom the whole time, but had three Ps instead of two in one of the clues. Methinks it's time for bed.

  43. Avatar_profileStrawberryGrandpaDave on Oct 25, 2007 09:24 PM

I'm getting the whole + thing, I wikied it, but I'm getting nothing.

EDIT: Well I got it now, but the answer, or something else, isn't right.

  44. FileAceSolar_Penguin on Oct 25, 2007 09:38 PM

on the last one wiki the clue then you may need to go to a certain "table" and add for the final answer.

  45. FileApplephosrik on Oct 25, 2007 10:05 PM

ok maybe i'm looking at it wrong but i have no clue what the leftmost, second down is. Is that a motorcycle or what?

  46. FilePeachtabacco on Oct 25, 2007 10:17 PM

Got them all (even the plus) except for the stupid anime characters. Any salt there? I've tried the old standbys of google and wikipedia, but I can't find anything that fits the space.

Nevermind, I just figured it out :(

  47. FileAppleqwertyca on Oct 26, 2007 12:08 AM

The puzzle spells the objects the cheerleader doll is holding as pompoMs where as wiki spells them as pompoNs. Just FYI.

  48. Avatar_profilePearfreelancelot on Oct 26, 2007 03:55 AM

Murdocter, Darn! The "spiral" idea was exactly the next kind of puzzle I was going to create!! (from the creator of the sometimes liked and sometimes maligned "Hypermaze!" concept). I hope that if you see me creating one in that shape in the future you will not think I was copying you…

    freelancelot

  49. FileTomatoMurdoctor on Oct 26, 2007 04:21 AM

There are actually two ways (intentionally) to figure out the final answer... but the "main" way is to use the answers you filled into the puzzle grid -- or at least part of them -- as a clue.

  50. Avatar_profileWatermelonCaptainSemantic on Oct 26, 2007 04:41 AM

On the final answer, I just remembered the title of the puzzle and applied to what the clue told me to do. "Iridium + ..." But then again, I was a Chemistry major for a year in college, so maybe I'm just "wired" that way.

  51. FileTomatoMurdoctor on Oct 26, 2007 05:54 AM

[50] Yes, that was one way to derive the answer. I was originally going to switch those two words around (and have "iridium" be the final answer), but decided to make it a little easier with that secondary way to solve it.

However, the main part of the puzzle was to use the answers from the grid (which were intentionally easy) to figure out the final answer word.

SALT: The big + sign is a big clue.

  52. FileGrapesdantan98 on Oct 26, 2007 06:48 AM

It's so frustrating to finish something that came so easily and then hit a brick wall with something that doesn't fit the rest of the puzzle!!! >-[

  53. FilePotatoAwpH on Oct 26, 2007 08:07 AM

Neat, though I still had to look up the final answer, even knowing what you were looking for with the clue in the puzzle. :-)

  54. FilePlumsjlee on Oct 26, 2007 11:47 AM

I'm still missing how the spiral part of the puzzle helps get the final answer. The picture (iridium +) was sufficient for me to figure out the answer (using Wiki).

  55. Avatar_profileGrapesRubble98 on Oct 26, 2007 11:54 AM

i had everything right, and didn't realize for 15 minutes i spelled an anwer in the middle wrong,

  56. FileAppleTWhitsett on Oct 26, 2007 12:34 PM

I have to say that this puzzle was extremely clever in the way it was put together.
I give big kudos to anyone who can create a puzzle that is both easy and complex. And the subtlety of how to utilize the + is just incredible!
    VERY WELL DONE!!!!

  57. Avatar_profileCherriesjtoast on Oct 26, 2007 02:28 PM

Well, I got the answer but I have absolutely no clue what the puzzle has to do with it. I just looked at heavy metal, thought of music and put in the first word I could think of that fit.

  58. FilePumpkinJohn on Oct 26, 2007 05:36 PM

Even with the answers, I can't seem to backsolve the intended "other way" to get the bottom one.

  59. FileRocketBearcat89 on Oct 26, 2007 06:29 PM

With the theme name and the first answer being the name of a Ritchie Blackmore group, I began thinking that this was going to be a completely different puzzle.
