Wow riddled with errors in the grid.
Wow riddled with errors in the grid. #5 and #8 each need to move one space to the left.
The puzzle is screwy. It needs to be fixed.
Edit: Double post...
All the top answers need to be moved over for it to fit.
names don't fit. puzzle is off
put your answers in and try to solve anyway...even though they don't match, it still took mine...got 3rd, even with 9 & 10 across 'wrong', due to correct answers in 5 and 8 down.
Come on Tanga!
Is this puzzle broken?
UGH, I had this solved over 10 minutes ago, but the site is misbehaving and the puzzle is a mess
Doesn't #9 have one too many spaces?
Only missing the top across...
[10] Yes it does. Also, Sir Charles and The Admiral don't fit - at least they don't cross correctly w/ #10. So, how in the world are there 6 completions already?
And what the heck just happened to Tanga - I was getting error code 500 Internal Server Errors for like 15 minutes there - ouch!
I can't figure out HOW to get 9 and 10 wrong the right way!
(12) put in all the answers you have, but let the answers you put in for 5 & 8 down override the answers you put in for 9 & 10 across.
Use STOCKKOO for #10...
Awful! You have to go back and type some over others or it won't take.
[16] What do you use for Christian - an extra "R"?
Edit: yup, guess so!
salt for 9
[19] I just gave some in [18]
Make sure you have all the words spelled correctly in your list on the right. Then make sure #5 and #8 are correct in the crossword on the left, which makes #10 wrong, then hit the solve button and it should work.
Thanks [15], that did it for me!
I can't get stuff to fit, either... things aren't lining up right.
The one being crossed twice and that gets messed up can be left as it is messed up... the two crossing it must be showing up correctly for it to take.
Thanks Big Slick :)
It's nicely clued, but letting through a grid with an error is just an embarassment. Er, well, where "letting through" presupposes that someone's actually looking at these things.
Just enter 5 and 8 as the last two you enter and it should work OK. (Oh - and 9 will have a space at the end until you do.)
I thought I had it (with [24]), but I can't get it to take.
Aw what's the use.
*** PUZZLE UPDATED ***
[30] Thanks! ...now, can someone explain #11 to me? I got it by process of elimination. :)
...nevermind, it's still a "post it and get it" thing. :) Although one person in the picture has a name that starts with "Ga," neither is Gallagher. Have I mentioned I suck with the face recognition thing? :)
Sorry everybody. I just learned about this being published... after it was published. I could have sworn I checked this out when I submitted it (a long time ago), but somehow things didn't line up. Anyway, sorry to all for the furstration. Thanks for the kind words despite the flaw.
Updated? I can't enter the extra R for 9 now..
[33] Try refreshing (if you haven't already).
Good clues!
one hour and 18 minutes later and I still get bonus points? kewl
Great puzzle, wsih I was here earlier. We need more puzzles of this type theme!
Wandered in 3 hours late and got 105th? Hey puzzle makers, when you get the notice your puzzle is going live, check your layout and spelling.
[38] I do, except I didn't get to check the site yesterday (busy Saturday) until after puzzle release time. I received both "congrats, you've been nominated" and "congrats, you'll be featured" within a 9 hour period... all on the day of publication.
Not that I want to make it harder to get published, but that's fairly short notice. I don't think there needs to be a button activated upon nomination that the author needs to click, saying "yup, let's release it" (that's theoretically what you should have gone through when you originally submitted... though, there is no such event on hypercross).
Actually, while I wrote that out, maybe there should be a confirmation of nomination button. That would at least allow hypercrosses to be completed before release, since, there currently isn't that step. It might also benefit people who have had puzzles sitting in the queue for a long time - give us a chance to review our solution text and add any notes. (I recall Murdoctor having one of his ancient puzzles published. It was still a fine puzzle, but he might have liked the chance to touch it up.)
Anyway, sorry about the missing column. I really liked this puzzle, the theme, the clues... but it's been tarnished by poor execution. Bummer.
LOVED the puzzle and theme anyway!!
[39] I received my nomination and featured at the SAME time a puzzle was being released - and it was the night that everything was late. I agree a little advance notice would be a good thing. All that being said, this was a nice little puzzle, especially once it was fixed. Thanks spamwise!
.....but there is an I in WIN......lol!
Easy puzzle....only one wiki page to reference.
Thank you [42]. This was the salt I needed to solve -- although I couldn't figure out WHAT page until I had 4 answers I could google on to get a commonality -- and then with 3 answers to go (which were not on the first wiki-page I went to) I figured out where to go. Embarrassing that for one of these answers I forgot what site I was on.
