  2. FilePepperdajagr on Thu Jun 28, 2007 07:14 PM

Something about this puzzle bothers me...

  3. Avatar_profileAppleshoehorse on Thu Jun 28, 2007 07:15 PM

Much more doable once I got the theme.

  4. Avatar_profilePearmundane on Thu Jun 28, 2007 07:16 PM

    This one bugs me.

  5. FilePearckpete2887 on Thu Jun 28, 2007 07:23 PM

Any ideas on the 'comic' clue? --It's the only one I have left...

  6. Avatar_profilePearmundane on Thu Jun 28, 2007 07:24 PM

[5] Pay attention to the names

  7. Avatar_profileApplepyrok on Thu Jun 28, 2007 07:27 PM

Stuck on the football player and map?

Never mind! Didn't recognize who that was at first.

  8. FilePearckpete2887 on Thu Jun 28, 2007 07:30 PM

[6] Thanks, although it's not getting me anywhere.

[7] I found it by figuring out what the map was of by plugging a city into google. As soon as i found where here was, I got the football player immediately and the answer.

  9. FileTomatobcgrote on Thu Jun 28, 2007 07:30 PM

it's possible that Ter will do something....

  10. FilePearckpete2887 on Thu Jun 28, 2007 07:31 PM

    [6] Nevermind, I got it.

  11. FileRadishSpire on Thu Jun 28, 2007 07:32 PM

I can't get it to accept my answers. When I click "Check answers", it responds with: "Sorry, there was a problem."

Edit: After refreshing the whole page in a new tab, I now get "You have solved this crossword!" But if I switch back to the original tab and try to submit again (just to test), I still get the "problem" error message.

  12. Avatar_profileApplepyrok on Thu Jun 28, 2007 07:33 PM

[8] Thanks - I actually did the opposite. Knowing the theme then who he was, I realized what city it was.

  13. FileApplegilby123 on Thu Jun 28, 2007 07:34 PM

I don't get the "Existed after O" clue. Ended up getting all the others and using a crossword solver.

EDIT: Nevermind got it with the ter. tks

Solved it using a crossword solver for the football player one. I have no idea who he is and that map is unreadable for me. Based on the answer, I can guess what his name is what that map is of, but booo!!

Seems to me that there is a much better choice for the first picture. How about a rock covered in green "fur"? That would certainly make it more friendly to non-Americans and football haters. (I didn't even know what team that was until [14]...)

  17. Avatar_profileOrangebigbam76 on Thu Jun 28, 2007 08:34 PM

can't figure out the comic, even with previous salt

    got it, nevermind

  18. ApparatusGrapesApparatus on Thu Jun 28, 2007 08:40 PM

Using a crossword solver just seems to take all the fun out of it.. but alas I may have to as some of these are just really lame clues...

  19. FileAceMzblubrd on Thu Jun 28, 2007 09:00 PM

Im missing the existed after o and the comic

what crossword solver do people use? Ive searched online and the one I found didnt work.

  20. Avatar_profilePearhld1970 on Thu Jun 28, 2007 09:13 PM

    still need two clues..ugh

  21. Avatar_profilePearhld1970 on Thu Jun 28, 2007 09:15 PM

[19] another word for 'existed' and then add the letter after 'o'

  22. FileStrawberryclemon79 on Thu Jun 28, 2007 09:32 PM

The problem is that that player no longer plays for that team, as of this last April, when he was traded to New England.

This is the sort of thing the creators need to check, especially when you are using sports figures as clues.

    [19] Mzblubrd
I use three different crossword solvers, but the one I like the most:
    http://dictionary.reference.com/crossword/index.html
It allows you to put in a definition as well as the letters.

    The other two...

    [16] Agreed.

I was having trouble with "Existed After O" because at thesaurus.com I couldn't enter the past tense of "existed". I had to use "exist", which gave me the present tense version of the word that I should have been looking for, and I just wasn't seeing it.

I'm a Ramblin' Wreck from Georgia Tech and a helluva engineer!

  27. FilePlumsjlee on Fri Jun 29, 2007 07:52 AM

Puzzle was a bit harder that the norm.

I think a few clues needed some work...

    1. The one with the "feline" and "column" looked like I was looking for a word that represented both... not "feline" + "or" + "column".

    2. You could've used a mugshot instead of him in his Oakland Raider uniform... or used [16]'s idea for anyone not familiar with the NFL. Plus map was too small for me to read (of course that was probably due to the resolution on my monitor).

    3. "existed after o" should have had two different fonts to show that it was two different clues... "existed" + "after o"

  28. FileGrapesdantan98 on Fri Jun 29, 2007 09:00 AM

Two of the three small words are easier to solve and will get you the theme. From there, you'll get down to two or three which are very difficult to do. The theme is key here so you know what you're looking for. I would suggest to the puzzle maker to use rebus clues if they are to make rebus references. =-]

I finally had to give up on this one....sleeping on it didnt help. I cant wait to see the solution tonight.

  30. FileWatermelonHCapulet on Fri Jun 29, 2007 12:20 PM

I like the ted and ter clue..

  31. Tanga-pink-avatarBananaMorganza on Thu Sep 27, 2007 09:11 PM

For those coming back to solve this later, a different football player now wears that number for that team.

  32. 100_1703Raspberrysonjahi on Wed Dec 01, 2010 11:33 AM

#4 (existed after o) would have been easier if I had spelled #1 right. Crossword solver doesn't help when you spell it wrong. Finally got it by figuring out the 3 letter word for "existed" that worked... then fixed my spelling...

It's funny that I got here by sorting the puzzles for the easiest hypers and so many people said it was "hard" - just funny...
