[3] I like it too.
However, I would be able to click on the answer box on the right and that would also connect to the puzzle like clicking on the puzzle connects to the answer box.
I kinda miss the old way though when it sometimes took a clue or two to figure out the theme.

This was cute. And ignore the "not solvable" message!

Yes [3], much easier to find the one you almost didn't know, then it suddenly dawned on you. :)

I had absolutely no idea that the first clue down looked like that! I just kinda assumed that the ones I saw in cartoons were true to life...

So you guys can solve it?? I'm too dumb to solve these puzzles myself, and haven't had time to investigate the earlier problems in detail.

[11] Yep, and the points show up correctly in my activity too (even though the solve announcement always says 20 for new, 2 for old).

I like the new format except I wish the large pictures didn't open right over the puzzle grid.
Oh yeah, and I solved it too.

No, not solving with correct spellings, as far as I can tell.

Okay, the first time, I put in everything, but worked from the boxes, hitting return to fill it in, and they didn't work. I went out of the page and back in to blank it out, and then filled it in "old style" by clicking on the puzzle. Exact same answers and spellings, and this time, it took. I even printed both pages out to match spellings, and they were the same.

Funny thing about this puzzle...I created it with K1W1 in mind right after a very American-centric puzzle came out. I forgot about it, and now that it's published, I haven't seen him around in awhile. K1W1 come baaaaackk!!!!...!!!..

I found out the boxes don't like Capital letters in them... I knew I had spelling right, but I lower cased everything and it worked!

thanks, princess [5]
odd...
I've had the word of one of these creatures in my head all day...
and this song i sang years ago in music class.. "we tanned his hide when he died, clyde, and that's it hanging on the shelf... tie me (creature) down, mate......"

Hardest part is spelling everything. Not exactly things I spell or see spelled on a regular basis. Thank you google.

I cannot get the third clue! What kind of dog is that? Or fox. Or whatever. Any salt, anyone?

Posted on Mon Dec 03, 2007 08:11 PM |
I am still getting an error, I checked all my spelling, I took out all capital letters, I went back and reentered only using the crossword boxes (the old way), still no luck. I am pretty sure I have them all right.
Edit: Tried again, got it.

I'm having trouble with the spine-y flat billed critter, the second one from the top if you are looking at the pictures, the middle down clue along the bottom if you are looking at the puzzle itself.
Any salt? I've found a wiki page that includes all of the other clues, but this one is eluding me so far.

[22] I'm here bud and I appreciate the effort!
A bit slow these days because for some reason the new format does not work for me at work. I click on the first letter and nothing happens. Now that I am home I will tackle it.

Posted on Mon Dec 03, 2007 11:46 PM |
[42] Ouch! lol.
We have different types of sheep, just like Eskimos have 40 words for snow and Glaswegians have 40 words for sleet!
And let's face it, some of those Aussie animals are just downright weird.
Meryl never said... "Strewth! Sheep ate me baby!"
:-p

Ahhhh... Got it from context in the comments. I was trying to figure out what "4 K1W1" meant. I mean, the origin of the animals was fairly obvious, but I enjoy figuring out what the title means in terms of theme.
[40]/[43] You mean the one for top down? Sounds like another word for troops fighting.
