Dec 01, 2007 Hypercross Puzzle

Still a few I can't come up with, but I really think I've done this puzzle before...

I am totally stuck on the last across. It would help if I knew which particular item in the category that square represents.

[2] the squares represent items?

[5] They represent nouns; I suppose *technically* the nouns they represent are not exactly concrete items....

They're mostly just colors.

I thought I had this one, but none of the answers I come up with fit!

for colorblind users squares are:
across (from top to bottom): orange, yellow, green, gray, purple, pink
down (from left to right): red, black, blue, white, brown

Okay, whether that is actually pink is what I am wondering.

It's his puzzle, so I believe him. (But that's where I'm stuck, too.)

If anyone else is pounding on the "submit" button and not having it accepted, the answer they want to the pink one is NOT "elephant"...

Nice puzzle. Very tricky, esp. the red clue!

Are the colors a part of the answer?

[20] i thought that one might be a little obscure, but friends who i made it with thought it would be ok.

[22] you can't fit blue in the boxes for the middle down clue, though they are a very important part of the clues.

[22] color + ? is one thing, then ? + picture is another - before and after

Really having trouble with the WHITE; thinking I must be the only one that can't get this one.

I got white, but I have no clue on any others... (*sigh*) Guess I'll not do this one, since I won't have time to do it tomorrow. =-/

Feeling dumb... no one else has asked for red salt yet. :(

EDIT: Nevermind... finally found it. Really screws up the puzzle when you try to use RIVER for one of the other answers.

It took me forever to get brown because I was concentrating on the characters and not on what they were doing. Also because I had the wrong word for blue.

I think I just needed a break. Thanks for the salt, I didn't wind up needing any except for orange...

I've got it down to red and there are just too many herrings for me on this one. When I first saw it, I thought "Red Riding Hood" (I know it doesn't fit), then when I got the theme of the puzzle, I couldn't get "state" out of my mind!

NM: Got it two minutes later. Now I've got a hankerin' for a big cheeseburger (with a fried egg on top).

I got it, but I don't get the purple clue at all. It was lucky guess.

ok, finally got it. I am not familiar with this type of burger.

I finally got it!! Purple is what was throwing me off. [63]Helped me out quit a bit.

[67] It's found in a new chain restaurant in our area, not sure how widespread they are.
