4th. Google Images is DEFINITELY your friend.

  2. Tog6Pumpkinprincessproton on Wed Dec 19, 2007 10:56 PM

Can you offer any salt for the last image (tall tower thing) or castle with water?

  3. FileEggplantunilab98 on Wed Dec 19, 2007 10:56 PM

man this is tough even with google images

  4. FileGarlicmartinp13 on Wed Dec 19, 2007 10:58 PM

Tall tower thing is under construction. You just know they're gunning for "tallest". For the castle I described the picture and it was the third image that popped up. :)

  5. FilePotatoeldurand on Wed Dec 19, 2007 11:00 PM

[2] Castle with water is magnifico, moor or less.

  6. FileClockJewelia on Wed Dec 19, 2007 11:04 PM

Just made top 10--spelling counts down under!

  7. Tog6Pumpkinprincessproton on Wed Dec 19, 2007 11:05 PM

Thanks, [4] and [5] but I still can't figure out the castle. I guess I'm not describing it to google properly and this is just not fun and exactly why I hate image identification puzzles. I've been stuck on the same one for almost 10 mins.

  8. FilePotatoShinigamiSPQR on Wed Dec 19, 2007 11:06 PM

I included "reflecting pool" in my query.

  9. FilePancakesMysticalmelody on Wed Dec 19, 2007 11:06 PM

    yaaay!
You were the 7th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 114 points for solving this.
The old looking temple threw me for a while.. I tried Incan and Mayan and Aztec temples.. none of them look the same... finally I got it, not what I expected.

  10. FileClockJewelia on Wed Dec 19, 2007 11:08 PM

    [9] half a world away, in fact . . .

  11. FileEggplantunilab98 on Wed Dec 19, 2007 11:08 PM

Yes, I agree [7] I do not like these image puzzles. Too difficult for me. Maybe I'm not "cultured" enough. But they just end up pissing me off by the end of the night. I still have five of these left.

  12. Tog6Pumpkinprincessproton on Wed Dec 19, 2007 11:10 PM

[8] Thank you, I never would have EVER thought of that. Ugh.

  13. FileEggplantunilab98 on Wed Dec 19, 2007 11:11 PM

    Thanks [4] for that help.

  14. Bear_and_meKiwigordon1018 on Wed Dec 19, 2007 11:13 PM

    15TH. i'M A LITTLE SURPRISED THERE AREN'T MORE PEOPLE WHO'VE SOLVED THIS

  15. FileClockJewelia on Wed Dec 19, 2007 11:16 PM

[11] and [7} Actually, I kind of like these because they force me to hone my advanced search strategies, and I come away feeling as if I've learned something. I much prefer them to puzzles that make me try a bunch of different number patterns until I finally hit on the one the author used. Unless the end result is particularly clever, I end up feeling as though I've wasted my time, with nothing to show for it but Tanga points.

  16. FileEggplantunilab98 on Wed Dec 19, 2007 11:17 PM

well all i have left is that darn south american looking thing. thank the lord.

  17. FilePancakesMysticalmelody on Wed Dec 19, 2007 11:19 PM

Great hypercross btw! Just what I like, most of them recognizable and only a couple you have to scrounge for. ^_^ The city where I live (Long Beach) actually has a very large population of the people that built that intricate looking temple. Long Beach is the most ethnically diverse large city in the United States. Wiki "Long beach, CA" and you might get a clue to that temple's origin. Long Beach has the second-largest __________ community outside of _____________.

  18. PixelBananaaynjul on Wed Dec 19, 2007 11:21 PM

I had to use help for the 2 others are having problems with... one is even a game!

  19. FileEggplantunilab98 on Wed Dec 19, 2007 11:22 PM

HALLELUJAH! Not in the top 20, but I'm just so happy to have it done. Thanks for all the salt guys!

  20. FileEggplantjtotheh on Wed Dec 19, 2007 11:50 PM

I didn't expect my scant familiarity of vexillologic peculiarities to help me out, but I was surprised.

  21. FileAppleGantrell on Wed Dec 19, 2007 11:52 PM

ive got them all I know, but it says im wrong. I'm stumped

  22. FilePancakesMysticalmelody on Thu Dec 20, 2007 12:00 AM

[21] spelling? Check them all. Especially the one down under.

  23. FileAppleGantrell on Thu Dec 20, 2007 12:05 AM

Mysticalmelody you are a genius!!!! I had no idea it was spelled like that. Learn something new everyday.
Wow, go figure tanga is both madening and educational at the same time.

  24. FileRocketn8uredude on Thu Dec 20, 2007 12:25 AM

Sweet puzzle a few had me stumped but still got 40th

  25. Phi3CornPhilana on Thu Dec 20, 2007 03:56 AM

Yet another blah images exercise. I prefer puzzles that can be solved.

  26. FilePotatoAwpH on Thu Dec 20, 2007 04:07 AM

[14] I suspect we have fewer solvers because the puzzle itself was not posted at the usual time. I was checking at 10pm last night, but didn't see this one. Went to bed, came to work, and there it was. I liked this puzzle- got all of them but the ancient palace off the cuff, but had to dredge google images to find that one.

  27. FileEggGamesX4 on Thu Dec 20, 2007 04:20 AM

    6 am and I'm still 75th

  28. FileBananaukkonen on Thu Dec 20, 2007 04:50 AM

I just finished. When I worked on all the other puzzles, this one wasnt posted and I checked it when I woke up and started working on it. Had to sneak a little time to get the last 2 answers.
The triple tower temple was hard as there are alot of others that look similar. (not salt, just an observation). Of course, if you follow the Long Beach clue above you will figure out the country which helps alot.

  29. FileDuckieescKey on Thu Dec 20, 2007 05:03 AM

That was fun. I like architecture.

  30. Phi3CornPhilana on Thu Dec 20, 2007 05:39 AM

[26] AwpH, what time do you start work in the morning?!?

  31. OtakuavatarPeachalysedai on Thu Dec 20, 2007 05:49 AM

    Wow...98. Sheesh.

  32. FileAppleLegomancer on Thu Dec 20, 2007 05:57 AM

[18] several of them are, actually

  33. New_scout_logoCheeseburgerscoutmom on Thu Dec 20, 2007 06:34 AM

Very disappointed at the late posting. As mentioned in [26] I did not check until just now at work.

  34. FileBananaCBDroege on Thu Dec 20, 2007 06:41 AM

Being a Sid Meier's Civilization player helped me with this, significantly.

  35. FileLemonWiseblood on Thu Dec 20, 2007 07:14 AM
  36. FilePumpkinBigSlick on Thu Dec 20, 2007 07:38 AM

[14], [26] Yeah, judging by the first entry here, it went up at about 1:30 am in my time zone. Now, I am normally still up at that time, but I must have fallen asleep on the stupid couch, so I didn't see this one until just now. Too bad too, because I solved it in less than 5 minutes, as I only had to look up a couple of them (and one or two others for spelling).

  37. FileOrangeAbbajabba82 on Thu Dec 20, 2007 07:40 AM

Google, board games, and College helped me solve this one.

  38. Avatar_profileAceGertSoB on Thu Dec 20, 2007 09:21 AM

[23], um, how else would you spell it. I can't think of a way to screw up that spelling.

  39. FileAppleFez on Thu Dec 20, 2007 09:27 AM

got it. thanks for the salt. In particular the construction tower.

  40. FileAppleFez on Thu Dec 20, 2007 09:28 AM

It won't let me edit comments.

  41. FilePlumdougtaylor1 on Thu Dec 20, 2007 10:07 AM
  42. FilePlumTIMMAY on Thu Dec 20, 2007 10:18 AM

    Thank goodness for Civ IV

  43. Club_liverpoolAppleJLRobert on Thu Dec 20, 2007 10:34 AM

    Nice. A Google-free puzzle. Thanks!

  44. Avatar_profileWatermelonMcDick on Thu Dec 20, 2007 11:41 AM

I've checked my answers a million times, spelling and everything. . .still not letting me submit. . .

  45. Sc002a57f6Pumpkinrunart on Thu Dec 20, 2007 11:53 AM

    me too. cracking up.

  46. FilePlumfishboy on Thu Dec 20, 2007 11:59 AM

[38] I misspelled that one as well, and what I did wrong was to replace a Y with an I.

  47. Avatar_profileLemonbballoakie on Thu Dec 20, 2007 12:19 PM

    Woot, finally got it!

  48. Avatar_profileWatermelonMcDick on Thu Dec 20, 2007 12:26 PM

Without changing a single answer, it finally submits. . .baw. . who knows. . .

  49. Avatar_profileKiwiTheDowman on Thu Dec 20, 2007 01:54 PM

    Barad-Dur doesn't fit!

  50. Avatar_profilePlumikiru on Thu Dec 20, 2007 02:24 PM

[49] lol! So THATs where Sauron is these days!

  51. FilePotatoDoomDahDoomDoom on Thu Dec 20, 2007 03:12 PM

That was a fun one! Finally a hypercross where I had a chance... Only one I never heard of was #3...

  52. FileBananaThomasD on Thu Dec 20, 2007 04:22 PM

"You solved this hypercross puzzle in 0 seconds and were the 281st Tanga member to solve it."

    Ha! Beat that time, Tangarines!

  53. FileAppledlandon2000 on Thu Dec 20, 2007 04:26 PM

This was super easy. Mostly because I already knew what all but one of those were and it only took a minute on google's tallest buildings search to find the last one.

  54. Avatar_profileGrapesKetchupSpud on Thu Dec 20, 2007 05:11 PM

I really enjoyed this one! I love travel and architecture, so this puzzle was a ton of fun!

  55. FilePearanthrorob on Thu Dec 20, 2007 06:24 PM

You solved this hypercross puzzle in 0 seconds and were the 312nd Tanga member to solve it. You earned 20 points for solving this.

Spelling and the really tall one are what slowed me down!

  56. Bp3Raspberryendel3 on Mon Aug 02, 2010 12:17 PM

There you go [52]..."You are a freaking genius!! You solved this puzzle. You solved this puzzle in -3.50 seconds and were the 391st Tanga member to solve it. You earned 5 points for solving this.
