I get the theme but I'm having a heck of a time figuring out some of these. You might try using Google with the name of this puzzle to clue you in some.

Can I get some salt on the theme?

I would guess that a scoutmom might not. Most people can't wait until they're 21 so that they can "legally" consume this.

I've made a couple of guesses that seem to fit though I'm not certain on. However, I'm clueless on the red shrub thing.
*edit*
Took out the heavy accidental salt.

[7] and [8] Yeah, I smacked my forehead on the red shrubbery. . . the PA was actually fine. I was wrong on the baseball player. I filled that one in before I had been certain of the theme and forgot to go back.

[17] What kind of gun is it? (if it helps, it's a single action carbine - used by the US Army since shortly after the end of the Civil War and one of the most famous handguns around)

Wow, I had no idea the PA was a state, it didn't click. . . I don't know how I got to my answer, I knew it didn't seem to make sense but it fit what I had to work with and fit the theme. After the fact I wonder if somewhere in the back of my mind I knew without knowing.
As for the gun. . . how about some Malt instead of salt?

THANKYOU! [40] [41] That was driving me nuts. Googling and wiki-ing everything I could think of with the first part in it.
Hmmm... Found it on wiki now, looks like it's only available on the east coast. No wonder this California boy never heard of it. And that it's the *only* one in the puzzle that I've never heard of.
heheh
Think I'll go have a brew now.

I think these type of hypercrosses are the good ones - we have a tight theme with clever pictures related to the theme. No need to go to google and try and find out what the specific breed or flower type is. Nice job.

There were some fairly unfamiliar ones in there; would have been happier with it if I could look at a picture, think, and say "Oh, of course" (as with the shrubbery and the Sisyphus) rather than look at a picture, think of something, and say, "I wonder whether that fits the theme at all."

Ironically, I was out drinking with my theater group last night, and so didn't get to the puzzle until this morning.
The truck clue was a bit weak, especially given the excellent possibilities for alternatives. The Sisyphus clue, however, was gold, as was the setting satellite; the red shrub was also quality. Solid, well-executed theme and excellent choices within that theme excuses all. Good puzzle!
