What got me confused is that one of them (#4) could also easily double as another (for example, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8) that's coincidentally the same length.

I pity those who don't know the theme... some of the pictures were kind of tough to get if you don't know what the theme is.
If you play your cards right, however, you can figure it out.

Nice one - no salt or google needed. I got #1, skipped #2 and figured out the theme on the third. #2 still took me some thinking though.
