Good one. I wonder what the second puzzle theme will be.... ;^)
Afraid I'm not getting the theme...
I don't know the purple one.
I don't know the purple one either. Salt?
I've got them all but the picture of the guy and the purple logo. . . no idea where to start looking for them though I do have a few letters of the guy.
Boo. Have them all, except I don't know the purple logo thingie... so I'm screwed until salt arrives :(
same here
What's the theme?
8th! My first even 100+ on all three!!!
Purple logo is a network... but any salt for the knife?
[6] Quit watching Battlestar Galactica and concentrate. Those of you looking for the theme, if you try harder you'll see it right there in the middle.
[10] think david
[10] or the alamo
[10] Thank you! Think coonskin hat. Or feminine male rocker from the 70-80s.
AH! Got the logo, but who is the dude?
The purple one is the logo of a television channel (I think; or else it's just the broader genre).
[12] or his buddy
[12] Great salt, thanks!
[10] Thanks! No way for me to get it otherwise.
Salt on the B&W picture?
Yep, all but the purple... know I've seen it but dunno where. :(
Can't get Marcia - nothing I can think of fits the theme. Any help?
Edit: duh! Never mind!
[20] Very similar name (at least part of it) to another answer
[22] Try what she is, singular. Extremely misleading clue.
Am I spelling the dancing woman's name right? I seem to be a letter off...
I'm stuck on purple saturn...got all the others...the knife could be named by an aging rocker
The guy plays a lot of bridge
I'm still lost on the purple symbol any other salt? Duh I got it!
[25] Probably. I typed it in the way I thought it should be into Google and it told me the right way.
[26] look at the comments for salt (in particular [10] and [11])
Thanks [28]. Now to figure out the black & white guy...
Finally got the dude. . . I remember reading somewhere that the sand should have received a cast credit for that movie.
General note for spelling - if you google what you have, often it will suggest the correct spelling on the results page. That's how I got the correct spelling for the black-and-white picture.
Speaking of which, if this is the one you mean by the "dude", [15], he's also a world-class bridge player, as well as an actor.
[23] Thanks for the salt!
I'm fustrated by the redhead, especially since the character name is the proper lenght...
stuck on the car rental one...anyone offer some salt?
google car rental companies, there is only one that fits
[34] Try putting in *what* she is?
But yeah, if you're having problems, look at the various ones you *can* get and see if they have anything in common.
Easy puzzle but what is the theme?
If I hadn't been banging my head against the Hard puzzle, would have finished this much sooner. Always interesting to decide where to focus attention among the puzzles.
thanks [36] Now....I have all the answers and I am pretty sure I'm right...but it says I'm wrong....WHAT'S WRONG?!!!
[38] You would know the theme if... you saw it.
AND...you can probably guess the next puzzle theme, BUT we'll have to wait and see!!
I'm still stuck on the purple one. I am out of things to google. Is it a logo? Of some kind of network? TV? Internet? What???
Google pictures of network logos and scroll though until you see, thats what I did and I found it
Thanks [10]! ... I should have known that!
The car rental company is pretty obscure (I still cannot find it) because it is not one of the top ten car rental companies nationwide.
I still cannot find the purple one. I looked through 50 pages of google results of network logos and found nothing that matches. I give up - good night!
Still stuck on the black and white guy....
gues Im on a different wavelength than everyone. I got them all but the car rental and the islands. im stumped on those. hmmm....
[47] Take a closer look at the salt in [11].
[49] You're all wet if you're looking at the islands. Want me to be more specIFic?
any salt on the dancing woman?
[50] Thank you for the salt on the purple one. Finally found it.
The purple dot on the purple logo clue does not match the answer. At least I couldn't find any image that matched it exactly.
[52] She is a rapper, singer, and actress.
[52]I didn't think this clue would be bringing down the house.
still stuck here....I'm pretty sure on my answers...but it says I'm wrong?!!! Can I send my answers to someone?
[49] Where might a Scottish man rent his car?
[56] Tangagram them to me.
[48] He isn't a "funny girl"!
[57] Somewhere cheap! THink about it!
hmmm.. I'm pretty sure about mine as well. although I'm not %100 with the purple logo.
[61} SIGH. Where do you think you FInd it?
203rd, this was interestingly fun. the black and white killed me, thanks [32]. and the women are much more simple than i realized.
[62] probably on Google if I knew what I was searching for... lol... "purple logo" doesn't yield much usefulness.
Edit: got it. the "salt" in [10] & [11] combined totally sent me down the wrong path. and as I was running don that path I completely over looked the obvious. where I come from a network is for computers... and Battlestar Galactica has a guy that fits with that and in the spaces.
black and white dude is making me maaad.Help!!!!!!!
[65] if his name was spelled a little different... well... I'd give him a gold star.
Ok, I finally got it, but what the hay is the theme?
Wow, thanks [32] the bridge salt was all I needed for was my last one.
65, 32 gave the salt on bw dude... that was my hook.
inspiration got me the redhead, and i got stuck on the gun. lol. save the easiest for last i suppose. i already figured out the theme by then too.
Woohoo! First hypercross I've solved!
[67] For theme ideas, look at [11], [41] and [42]. You get it IF and only IF you look closely.
The title should have been
"no ANDs or BUTs"
Salt on the dagger? Can't find anything that fits with Davey Crockett and Feminine Male Rockers. I'm stumped. It's so frustatring, only one left.
Edit - Hey. nevermind. Just found it.

[74] The guy who is credited with its development it died at the Alamo. Hope that's not too salty.
im sorry i dont know anything about guns, im stuck on that one
never mind thought it was looking for the name of a part, duh
wow that theme is tough to see until you really think about it
[76] The gun is not a handgun and it is not a shotgun. A google hint: It's a Henry model from the old west.
[74] Look for a list of who died with Mr. Crockett at the Alamo. One of them was famous for the oversized knife he created.
Finally! 387th and it was that darn car-rental company that held me up! (No, that's not salt.)
421st.
Wow, toughie for some of those. Finally got the B&W pic on the bridge suggestion. Great puzzle, scarver!
