I speak for the trees!
27th because I got an anthem stuck in my head instead of the real answer
I knew all but the "DI" and the i-pods. I never heard of those titles, and had to wiki them. Good puzzle, though.
Wikipedia was no help for this one -- the list is vastly incomplete
It got the ones I missed - mainly since I didn't know that pseudonym.
some obscure ones in there
I'd never heard of Homer's before.
[11] that's the one i'm stuck on..
EDIT: Bollocks! Got it, but not in time to be anything but 101!
Good puzzle, lots of stretches for a few of these.
not much crossing in this crossword
Can someone help me with #4?
Damn stupid spelling errors :)
Fun, though I wish some of them weren't as obscure.
[14] color
This puzzle deserves 5 stars upon thars.
[16] Thanks.
any help with the ice cream? got the rest
amazon was my friend on some...haven't had anything to do with these in over 20 years!
once again I ask for help and then solve it. 125th.
good one
I'm stuck on the one with Simpson. Any salt?
[20] it's not who he is
.
I got it, thanks, found the title. Don't see how that clue gets that answer, though.
Edit: I get it now.
[10] - definitely some obscure ones here, and I missed the spelling on a couple.
Good theme though.
I thought some of the clues were a bit of a stretch, but I still enjoyed the puzzle. The few I wasn't familiar with I found on Wikipedia.. and I believe they're all there if you look over the whole page.
salt on the ice cream, please...?
Edit: Oops, wrong clue.
Thanks [28].
This was fun... For the ice cream one, say it out loud.
None of these were obscure to me, but I celebrate a day for this every year. And I get paid to do it. I even have a hat.
[26] sounds like homemade ice cream ....
Don't focus exclusively on full works. Sometimes you need just a part. For your particular request, add "and other stories" to get what might be a more helpful title.
Hooray! I'll be in [Salty] the Musical next month, playing the Mayor of [Salty].
I'm having the worst trouble with "DI," for some reason. I've been down a b*****graphy about half a dozen times, and nothing's clicking.
[32] It would have been more proper if I had put quotes around each of those letters.
I'd just like to say that some of those were so "pun-ny" that I had to audibly moan several times while solving this.
[33] Turns out that I almost had it, it's just that this particular book showed up in _none_ of the bibliographies I was able to find.
I think Theodore would have LOVED this!
Whew.. Yeah, there's a few in there that are *very* obscure..
And yes, the puns.. oh god.. the puns..
Got them all though I'm not sure how the Homer one works... Never heard of a lot of those.
After all my grief i spell what Horton heard "hoo." And the Homer clue I have no idea how to solve, only that the last word was all I could get to fit.
Oh, this puzzle was fun, but a few were obscure.
If some are unsolved, if you're slightly unsure,
Don't feel bad! No one's perfect! And I've heard them say
That the wikipedia page grew 6,000 hits today.
So hyperlink, hypercross, hi ho and away!
A few stretches on what could be called a pun.
[40] Thanks. I almost used a blue m____ for the Homer-napping clue.
I finally figured out how the Homer clue works! Apparently, I hadn't gotten enough sleep to figure it out before.
Great puzzle! I loved the theme!
My favorites from 40 years ago
Thanks for all the compliments and constructive criticism.
I'll be more aware of obscurity next time.
And I'll try to cut down on the groaners, as well.
But that might be hard to do. :)
I had the Homer part. Had no clue what the next thing was though. Wasn't familiar with the picture or the term.
I am still totally stuck on the "DI" and the Homer clues. any more salt?
They seem so easy, but I just can't find any Dr Seuss books that match what I come up with.
Nevermind. Took me 20 seconds after posting the request for salt.
a great reference website is www.seussville.com
Anyone still around? I'm so stuck on the DI one
