There seems to be a spelling challenge...

Pretend you're not Italian when you're having lunch.

I can't figure out the balloons.

Everything but the Teletubby.

Have them all, spelling checked, not working...

teletubby????

[3] what's in them?

well I must be spelling something wrong.......

maybe the owl one>?

[7] Thank you!

[7] Thank you!

try spelling the meat a different way

teletubby?

BOO! I cry foul! I was sure that the use of Oscar Meyer was a clue as to the desired spelling!

the teletubbys were named tinky-winky, dipsy, lala and po.... if that helps

That term isn't listed in my thesaurus under nonsense :/

what am I spelling wrong?

[16] the same thing I am it would see....
tried two spellings for the oscar meyer....
and a bazillion spellings of the owl one.....

Even knowing the names of the teletubby isn't helping me figure it out, it's the only one I have left, grr.

NM: got it, but I still have something else wrong.

I know I have them all and I know they're right, as well as I'm sure they're spelled right. Frust.rate.ted.

i've change them the popcorn one, the oscar one, the owl one...

[19] I totally agree...

[18] what do the word bubble represent?? (hint....I am doing it about the spelling on this puzzle! %$^#&*@)

As far as I can tell, those magic words together are a synonym for something else that's listed as nonsense, but it's not the same thing as *being* nonsense. I've never heard that term used like that before. Other than that, I thought it was awesome.

[13] Agreed.

I agree on the clue for the lunch meat being tricky, had I not confirmed the owl I'd be changing it. Fun.

anyone who has gotten this....TG on the spelling of the owl one? so I can cross it off my list?

[18] is swearing customary?

I think it's the owl that's giving me the problem....any salt?

[27] what does the owl say? (use your see and say if you can't remember).

I have found that using Word as a spell-check helped with the owl and the meat.

[21] When you talk like that, what is a "G" rated of saying what you did?

[22] F-speed, F-sheep also falls into that category.

yeah...that's bad with so many variations of spelling for so many answers.

spell check passed both of them for me... along with all the other words....grrr....

The luchmeat spelling hung me up a bit, but otherwise I really liked this one. :)

They were all spelled the way I spell them when they refer to nonsense--we only used the Italian spelling for the meat product, for example.

If someone's stuck on spelling, feel free to TG me and I'll try to help.

Fun puzzle, cyn--again!

[32] - that one was especially tough since it's Oscar Meyer and I'm sure we all know the jingle.

Fun puzzle though.

Yikes!!! Sorry, I didn't mean for this puzzle to be frustrating. I guess slang is not a good subject.

Thanks to those who liked it.

Oscar Meyer has a way but they don't spell it with an...

[35] even with the spelling problems I had, it is a fun puzzle with a nice
A-HA! hook when you get the theme. Sorry if I implied I didn't like it:)

(I got my first top ten the other day, and now I have the rush and get cranky too easily!)

BTW: my problem occurred in the meat spelling also... so I think that must be a lynch pin for this one.

I flipped a mental coin and got the lunch meat right on the first try, but I debated over it briefly before entering it and knew that if it didn't take, I'd be going back to fix things. One idea that might have helped would be to have another word cross that answer so that only one of the spellings would have fit. (By coincidence, the the word crossed on two of the three letters that are consistent for both spellings.)

I have them all and spell checked, using the correct spelling of the non-meat. It says something is still wrong. Anyone that has solved want to check my answers?

nice puzzle once you get over the spelling issues! Fun!

[38] Thanks for that advice. Whew! Now I'm glad I abandoned the idea of including "gobbledygook", "malarkey", and "rigmarole"! Can you just imagine what a greater mess that would have been? :)

[39] Yes, please TG me.

[41]using those in this puzzle would have violated the Geneva Convention.

[43] lol

[41] Yeah, none of that skimble-skamble. It's Greek to me. :)

any salt on the telly tubby?

Hi everyone! I'm a Tanga newbie here...

This was a fun puzzle!

I was so excited to find one that I knew the majority of the answers.

The Oscar Meyer one had me stumped for a bit - used the spelling as was on the package - which is defined as the actual meat.

Hope this isn't too much salt - but when you are so sure you've solved the puzzle and it won't accept...here goes...

there is another way to spell this that fits in line with the puzzle theme.

That fixed it for me [11]. Thanks.

It's all Greek to me!Great puzzle cyncat!

[47] Welcome!

Shoot... didn't realize that dajagr had already used the greek reference :(

[46] The teletubby's name rhymes with the garden tool. The answer to the clue is a couple of rhyming words. Use the "milder" word for what the bubbles suggest.

Thanks cyncat... that finally did it!!!

Well, this has been one memorable night.
Yup, the sun, the moon, and the earth all lined up for a while.
So did bologna, bologne, and baloney.
Never did I expect that all the mumbo-jumbo that I put together in a silly hypercross would come back to haunt me tonight.
Thanks, everyone, for being such good sports.
I'm glad some of you enjoyed it.

Yay! my very first Hypercross finish!

Other than spelling difficulties with bologna, a nice easy puzzle. Thanks cyncat.

And thanks also cyncat as this puzzle gave me STU!

[54] cyn - I'm sure most people enjoyed it - I know I did. The only thing that frustrated me was that abracadabra mumbo-jumbo. If only I'd seen that awful Bette Midler movie, I might've found that one with the teletubby a little easier.

[54] Hey, cyncat, don't backpeddle too much :)

While there are various spellings, the one you used is definitely the correct one for this puzzle.

"Bologna sausage is generally made from low quality scraps of meat cuts. That is the origin of the slang word baloney, meaning 'nonsense'"

That said, you probably should have clued this one differently. I feel like the puzzle "syntax" of "blanking" out a word means that the answer IS that word. Especially if it's not part of a bigger rebus or anything. I also suspect that many here have probably never seen the word "baloney" spelled out in that context. And the fact that both answers are the same number of letters was unfortunate.

You probably should have avoided this one, just in case. The frustrating part of any Hypercross is not knowing *why* your answers are wrong... or which ones, for that matter. And if you're not familiar with "baloney," then you have no idea it might be the problem. Again, especially if the clue points you to "bologna."

But, to all you frustrated solvers: sure, cyncat could have maybe made some better choices... but this *and* the owl clue are the correct words, spelled correctly for the theme of this puzzle. Believe me, I feel your frustration, but don't be hatin' on the spelling :)

[41] I would have LOVED those words - I was actually looking/prepared for "malarky" as well as "hokum" and "blarney" :)

All in all, still quite fun.
