As far as I can tell, those magic words together are a synonym for something else that's listed as nonsense, but it's not the same thing as *being* nonsense. I've never heard that term used like that before. Other than that, I thought it was awesome.

They were all spelled the way I spell them when they refer to nonsense--we only used the Italian spelling for the meat product, for example.
If someone's stuck on spelling, feel free to TG me and I'll try to help.

A-HA! hook when you get the theme. Sorry if I implied I didn't like it:)
(I got my first top ten the other day, and now I have the rush and get cranky too easily!)
BTW: my problem occurred in the meat spelling also... so I think that must be a lynch pin for this one.

I flipped a mental coin and got the lunch meat right on the first try, but I debated over it briefly before entering it and knew that if it didn't take, I'd be going back to fix things. One idea that might have helped would be to have another word cross that answer so that only one of the spellings would have fit. (By coincidence, the the word crossed on two of the three letters that are consistent for both spellings.)

I have them all and spell checked, using the correct spelling of the non-meat. It says something is still wrong. Anyone that has solved want to check my answers?

Hi everyone! I'm a Tanga newbie here...
This was a fun puzzle!
I was so excited to find one that I knew the majority of the answers.
The Oscar Meyer one had me stumped for a bit - used the spelling as was on the package - which is defined as the actual meat.
Hope this isn't too much salt - but when you are so sure you've solved the puzzle and it won't accept...here goes...
there is another way to spell this that fits in line with the puzzle theme.

[46] The teletubby's name rhymes with the garden tool. The answer to the clue is a couple of rhyming words. Use the "milder" word for what the bubbles suggest.

Well, this has been one memorable night.
Yup, the sun, the moon, and the earth all lined up for a while.
So did bologna, bologne, and baloney.
Never did I expect that all the mumbo-jumbo that I put together in a silly hypercross would come back to haunt me tonight.
Thanks, everyone, for being such good sports.
I'm glad some of you enjoyed it.

[54] cyn - I'm sure most people enjoyed it - I know I did. The only thing that frustrated me was that abracadabra mumbo-jumbo. If only I'd seen that awful Bette Midler movie, I might've found that one with the teletubby a little easier.

[54] Hey, cyncat, don't backpeddle too much :)
While there are various spellings, the one you used is definitely the correct one for this puzzle.
"Bologna sausage is generally made from low quality scraps of meat cuts. That is the origin of the slang word baloney, meaning 'nonsense'"
That said, you probably should have clued this one differently. I feel like the puzzle "syntax" of "blanking" out a word means that the answer IS that word. Especially if it's not part of a bigger rebus or anything. I also suspect that many here have probably never seen the word "baloney" spelled out in that context. And the fact that both answers are the same number of letters was unfortunate.
You probably should have avoided this one, just in case. The frustrating part of any Hypercross is not knowing *why* your answers are wrong... or which ones, for that matter. And if you're not familiar with "baloney," then you have no idea it might be the problem. Again, especially if the clue points you to "bologna."
But, to all you frustrated solvers: sure, cyncat could have maybe made some better choices... but this *and* the owl clue are the correct words, spelled correctly for the theme of this puzzle. Believe me, I feel your frustration, but don't be hatin' on the spelling :)
[41] I would have LOVED those words - I was actually looking/prepared for "malarky" as well as "hokum" and "blarney" :)
All in all, still quite fun.
