Huh?

Bravo! Bravo! (< -- Yay _and_ kinda salt!)

I have them all (I think) but something isn't right

edit: It was the fat lady's "title" that tripped me up

I google the theme, and now I get the title. I use that browser on a Windows machine. :)

Oh, and I can't spell any of these, even if I know them, which I don't.

Missing #15. Salt?

[3] same here
got it

[3] me, too

edit: I was misspelling No. 8.

[4] It's not over till the fat lady sings

I had to double-check my spelling against a list @ wiki before it took. (Freakin' Squeeze album got me misspelling stuff...)

Is there an error at 9/15?

For #15, if you Google opera plus the name of the person, you will get what you need.

Can someone tell me which beatle that is?

[12] He's the Beatle with wings

[10] No, there's no error there

[11], yes, thanks. I had it already and also found it with an 'e' at the intersection.

I ask because I've checked my spelling on everything else and - no go. Are there any other alternate spellings?

[15] #3 and #8 might trip you up...

[15] #8 and #3 were the ones I had to adjust before the solution took.

I got almost all of them (that last one is really tough!) but had one spelled wrong. Make sure you find a good source for the correct spellings.

By the way ... nice puzzle!

Oh, yes, nice puzzle!

Yep, misspelled #8.

I've tried #3 with an 'e' and an 'a'; and tried #8 with an 'i' and an 'e'. All four permutations. Still not taking.

So I must have something else wrong. ?

There are two spellings of #9, but the crossing at #15 fixes it as an 'i'.

Very nice puzzle, BTW, but I'm frustrated.

Edit: FInally! There is a consonant variation of #9 also. Satisfying puzzle.

My mistake was in #3.

I can't get #2. Could someone salt me?

Never mind. Got it.

Madama? I think not.

I'm stuck on 1, 2 and 6

Whew! Worked up a sweat on this one!

I've got them all except #6. Any salt on that?

ETA: Thank you [28]. That was all the salt I needed. Though I still have no idea who the girl is or what she's saying

I think this one was too hard for a Hypercross. Having not heard of many of these, finding the spellings was quite a chore.

And some salt for [25]:
#1 is from 1874
#2 from 1892
#6 from 1853
(at least according to my source...)

i've checked spelling on everyone and still something is wrong, any suggestions?
Getting the answers weren't that hard, but getting the right spelling is hell!

.

[29] check spelling again :-) It took me several tries to get all the spellings right.

[28] Thank you. The list I was using had all the proper spellings. Your salt helped alot!

Several minutes with wikipedia and then several more minutes trying alternate spellings. Kinda wish I hadn't bothered.

[24] - yes, it's Madama.

[34] thank you. that is the spelling I needed.

I know nothing about the theme. I don't speak those languages. Google is not helping me much. I'm not having fun. So I'm quitting with only four blanks.

Down to one remaining - anyone got salt on 11??

[37]Generic form of the vehicle, plus the people that would use that sort of restroom.

How about help with #9?

#8 ends in an "E" for those with spelling variant issues.

Wow. I'm surprised at how many I knew - mostly from Bugs Bunny Cartoons. :)

Very nice.

can't get #9. sad times

Thanks [28]. This puzzle would have been more fun if the clues had included the year. There were just too many obscure choices for us uncultured types. I applaud the effort though.

Yeah, I wasn't sure how tough the spelling might be. I found them all fairly easily, but then, I also had the answers in front of me to cross reference.

But the clues were just too good to pass up (I LOVE #6), and the theme is interesting, I think.

And LOL to [40] Me, too :)

Anyone got any hints on #2? I know the guy but I can't find an answer that fits the theme...

I actually came up with all the answers without *too* much trouble, but I needed help finding the right variant spelling for 3 of them. :(

I still don't understand the first part of the clue for #2, though...

I have the answers right in front of me but I can not for the life of me understand the first parts of #1 & #2.

Someone care to TG me what the first picture in #1 is (and if it is not obvious, how it forms the first word prior to the "R")?

Someone care to enlighten me as to how the designated band member and the water craft in #2 form the part prior to the rodent food?

Thanks

[38] Thanks for the salt on 11. I can't believe I couldn't think of it - I've actually SEEN that one.

For #9, if you Google the last two pictures, you should be able to come up with an answer (having the first letter will help, too).

[46] in Italian, "gli" is pronounced "ya" and the balloon is deflated.

[48] thanks. I'd already been clued that we were suppose to magically know that the large object next to a truck is a balloon and that we should deduce that it is in fact deflated... and not, say, being filled. that is a bad clue on #1. I still don't see how #2 is formed... doesn't Mr McCartney have an "L" in his name? Is it a silent "L"? It seems we need to drop the end sound from all three, yet are only instructed to do so on the third one.

I liked the theme, but found a lot of these to be pretty poorly clued.

[21] right there with you. been doing all tanga in the dark once my laptop is charged up. been without power since sunday early evening. i know i have all these right. changed some spellings but am soooooooooo tired going back to this one for two days now. will try again later today. i feel like i'm in the dark ages right now! =:(
