Anyone want to trade me? You give me hippo, I'll give you something else?
This always happens... I can get everything but one. I'm going to have to stop doing this because I spend too much time...

Oh man... hats off to the hippos one...
Basically, I guessed after filling in all the others, and it still took a few seconds before the connection was made. So for anyone stuck on that, there's the best advice I can give... guess!

Is it the names, their occupations... ? I don't recognize any of the people.

[14] True. I mean, really, how many do you laft? I didn't go for any obscure ones. These are all on my calendar.
And FWIW, I had one for Halloween, but a) I didn't really like it and b) I wanted them to be "Days."

[19] T.Hanks, pepperhead. Hee hee... "pepperhead" :) I had a lot of fun trying to come up with alternate ways for cluing some of the more obvious ones.
And then there's Earth and Flag :)
Really glad you enjoyed it.

NIce work. I'm not up on Presidents, so that gave me a bit of challenge for a while. That, and the hippos. God bless hippos. Another great puzzle!

There were some awesome clues there.
Ironically, the one that tripped me up longest was the gorilla-wiggum-brynner one.

Gotta love a puzzle with not one, but TWO Simpsons used as clues.
The hippos took me the longest too. The writing instruments - too funny. My favorite though for some reason was the outlet and the motorcycle.
Gotta cry foul though - on the Kilmer one, us purists (ok, actually, us catholics) think there should be a St. in front of that one too. :)

Hee hee, thanks all. I had a LOT of fun coming up with some of those.
I knew some of those pictures with the Hippos might be too small and/or hard to recognize, but once you get the theme, this is a pretty major Day, and should be guessable, right? Also, I wanted to stick exclusively to XXXXX (or XXXX) and not the longer 11-letter name (XXXXXXXXXer) that MANY (sadly for me) more recognizable people go by.
Yeah [28] I tried the ST, but it kinda screwed me up grid-wise, and I didn't want to repeat that halo.
[26] Thanks! That was the first one I thought of, and it's what inspired this puzzle. I'm particularly fond of the "trail" that each is leaving on the floor, as it further sells the idea by showing you their "moves." It totally shows, for example, that the back middle pen has been spun around a few times :)
[24] 752 points! Welcome to Tanga! (and thanks, again)

It's funny how the hardest one is the one we like the most.
