I redid the grid to make for more crossing letters, hopefully that will help ('course that means the comments won't match the clue numbers, sorry). If you're still stuck feel free to send me a Tangagram, I'd be more than happy to help.

  2. FileClockJewelia on Jun 03, 2008 11:12 PM

What if at 12th I don't success, I just plain suck?

  3. FilePancakesepaz on Jun 03, 2008 11:17 PM

    [2] LOL! (And I don't success, either.)

  4. FileEggRPardoe on Jun 03, 2008 11:21 PM

Whoa and groan...straightforward in places, not so in others, but in the end got it to work.

  5. FileClockJewelia on Jun 03, 2008 11:22 PM

[4] Please, sprinkle some salt, so epaz and I can suck on something tasty.

  6. FileEggRPardoe on Jun 03, 2008 11:25 PM

While I try to think of some....Consider the theme and look at the picture....#6 is the one that got me started.

  7. FilePancakesepaz on Jun 03, 2008 11:28 PM

edit: Is #3 as differently-spelled as I think it is?

  8. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Jun 03, 2008 11:26 PM

    What numbers do you need?

  9. FileEggRPardoe on Jun 03, 2008 11:27 PM

#3 looked strange to me also, but did work.

  10. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Jun 03, 2008 11:27 PM

[7] Yes... and no. It is also a name this more uncommon way. And the crossing letter solves this problem.

  11. FilePeppercyncat on Jun 03, 2008 11:28 PM

I'm getting something strange for #3.

  12. FileEggRPardoe on Jun 03, 2008 11:28 PM

Remember there is only 1 of every item in the picture....that might be needed to help some fit.

  13. FilePancakesepaz on Jun 03, 2008 11:30 PM

I'm stuck on #2. Is there a different pronunciation or something?

  14. FileEggRPardoe on Jun 03, 2008 11:32 PM

[13] Ignore the S at the end

  15. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Jun 03, 2008 11:31 PM

[13] No. Maybe your leaves haven't changed color yet?

  16. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Jun 03, 2008 11:34 PM

[14] Is there an S on the end? It's just one of them, after all. Wouldn't it be a ROLAID, if it were one?

  17. FileEggRPardoe on Jun 03, 2008 11:36 PM

[16] There is in the image .... thought folks might be a bit too literal with what they saw....

  18. FilePancakesepaz on Jun 04, 2008 10:26 AM

[14]-[16] Thanks! I guess I'm stuck on something else. Hmm...

edit: Thanks again, all! Finally got it, and yeesh!
The clue for #4 did make me smile, though. :-)

    re-edit: The numbers changed! I mean #3.

  19. SouthparkPepperTahnan on Jun 04, 2008 01:37 AM

I can't make any sense at all out of #12. And guessing is frustrating, since I might have anything else misspelled.

  20. My-icon-largeSailboatTheRizz on Jun 04, 2008 03:40 AM

Too many different spellings possible in this puzzle...

  21. New_scout_logoCheeseburgerscoutmom on Jun 04, 2008 06:16 AM

Still stuck on #2 and #9 (I think I have the rest). #12 was a bit of a stretch - probably.

    edit: I think I have #9 now...

  22. FileClockJewelia on Jun 04, 2008 06:17 AM

    For #2 see [15].

  23. New_scout_logoCheeseburgerscoutmom on Jun 04, 2008 06:20 AM

I saw that, and totally did not get it. :(

edit: NM, NOW I get it - but must have 12 wrong (or something!)

  24. FileClockJewelia on Jun 04, 2008 06:31 AM

The one that held me back was #6. It's spelled like the brand. If that doesn't do it, TG me what you've got.

  25. FileEggmnemonica on Jun 04, 2008 07:32 PM

[24] Thanks. And: Oh for cryin' out loud.

It's a nice idea for a hyper, but there's a lot to be annoyed by here. (edit: I've removed the rest of this somewhat harsh post.)

  26. FilePepperdajagr on Jun 04, 2008 08:10 AM

...I have no idea who that is in #11. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

  27. FileEggRPardoe on Jun 04, 2008 08:14 AM

I must admit I sometimes work just from the thumbnails, especially if the picture is pretty clear. That led me astray looking at #4. I had to open the picture to realize what it wasn't.

  28. PumpkinEggCrazyKids on Jun 04, 2008 08:38 AM

[27] lol! #4 is the one that clued me in to the theme. As i was thinking "My! That can't be a X" <click> "Ohhhhh, it's a Y"

  29. Cuicocha2Sailboathokie98 on Jun 04, 2008 08:43 AM

[27] LOL... I can only imagine!

  30. Cuicocha2Sailboathokie98 on Jun 04, 2008 08:44 AM

I got answers, but they aren't taking... Not sure on a couple though... too many options.

  31. FileXylophoneDavmar on Jun 04, 2008 09:53 AM

0 seconds, hardly. Was on at 5:30 with this trying various spellings. Finally clicked!

  32. FileClockmust67 on Jun 04, 2008 11:14 AM

Spellings are a real problem. This is not consistent either as names or objects. Not a fun puzzle

  33. FilePepperdajagr on Jun 04, 2008 09:07 PM

Can anyone help me out with who's in #11? (And I'm not getting anything useful out of #10 either...)

  34. New_scout_logoCheeseburgerscoutmom on Jun 05, 2008 06:34 AM

    [33] for #11 - she's from Friends.

For #10 it is exactly what you see in the picture. I know it won't seem right, but that's it.

  35. FilePepperdajagr on Jun 05, 2008 11:23 PM

Well, I've filled in the grid, but it's still not taking...

...I give up. I've tried too many combinations, and I'm sick of it.

  36. SouthparkPepperTahnan on Jun 05, 2008 06:53 PM

Er, I meant #10 was the one I can't make sense of. Honestly, this puzzle is just plain terrible, and I'd be perfectly fine with someone just telling me the [censored] answers so I can get on with my life.

  37. FileEggmnemonica on Jun 05, 2008 08:04 PM

    [36] TG sent.

  38. SouthparkPepperTahnan on Jun 06, 2008 10:40 AM

Thank you, [37]. It turned out I'd spelled *four* of them "wrong". Add to that the reasonable-but-wrong "Alair" for the animal's home...

When you add to this the fact that the initial "A" sounds are sometimes the a in "fat", sometimes the one in "fate", sometimes the one in "father", sometimes a schwa--really, there was *nothing* good in this puzzle. Approving it was a crime against all good sense.

  39. 2739833647_e854fb2bbeCarrotcbrady928 on Jun 06, 2008 11:47 AM

this is crazy...I've got all viable names, but I can't get it to work for the life of me! Can I get a TG someone?

  40. FileGarlicmartinp13 on Jun 07, 2008 10:42 AM

So not worth the 5 points. :(

  41. Bp3Eggendel3 on Sep 29, 2010 07:23 AM

Took forever on the "tum" one (brain freeze), and my son gave it to me in about 2.5 seconds, and surprisingly everything else fit--TG me for salt/answers as needed...

  42. ProtoconCarrotholdenbj on Oct 16, 2010 02:48 PM

4 and 8 are pretty unusual. Typing what they are works though so dont overthink those 2. (one starts with D and one starts with L)

  43. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Oct 18, 2010 12:28 PM

Gotta agree with [38] on the pronunciation problems. There's no way to get the fact that all the names start with an 'A' unless you read each clue as "I am looking at a <blank>" where <blank> is the clued object and A+<blank> is the answer name.

Very, very tricky but fair, I think, as long as all the names have the same 'a' sound that you would make while saying that sentence!

The fact that some of them are not pronounced that way (the tums one is the most egregious) makes it too unfair. How was I supposed to know from Johnny, James, and Rose that I was looking for first names that start with A?

Once you pile on some unusual names and use lesser common spellings for some of the others, it gets pretty rough.
