    Eh, not worth the time.

  2. FilePancakestempus42 on Dec 27, 2008 07:35 AM

Holy cow! I thought I knew a little bit about science fiction! Guess not.... I think I can only answer 2, maybe 3, of those without research, and there's really no way I can think of to do the research you need..... :(

  3. Phi3CornPhilana on Dec 27, 2008 07:47 AM

I thought I'd give it a try, but now I'm wondering if it's broken. When I click on #13, the entire length of the answer isn't highlighted. Does #13 cross #9 or not?

  4. FileCheeseburgerHrothgar24 on Dec 27, 2008 07:56 AM

[3] Number 17 does the same thing (not all is highlighted)

  5. SouthparkPepperTahnan on Dec 27, 2008 07:59 AM

I haven't solved this yet--about to get on a plane--but I can say with some certainty that #13 is nine letters long. #13 does not cross #9.

  6. FilePancakeshatemachine on Dec 27, 2008 08:00 AM

Terrible design. Boooo on image ID hypers. I demand the head of the Mod who approved this! :)

  7. Phi3CornPhilana on Dec 27, 2008 08:02 AM

That's it -- I quit! It's a bad image recognition puzzle, and the grid evidently has errors.

  8. Phi3CornPhilana on Dec 27, 2008 08:28 AM

Does anyone have anything for #3, #5, or #12?

  9. Phi3CornPhilana on Dec 27, 2008 08:28 AM

    Or #7?

  10. Phi3CornPhilana on Dec 27, 2008 08:35 AM

And has anyone figured out how the answers for #11 and #17 can possibly cross as indicated?

  11. FileCheeseburgerHrothgar24 on Dec 27, 2008 08:44 AM

#3 - Bill Mumy would ask Dr Smith about this (believe you need to spell out number)
#7 - Movie greenhouses on spaceship
#12 - British show with Avon
    #5 is one I haven't gotten
#11 and #17 seem majorly hosed. I can fit #17, if I shorten the #11 by 2 letters from one of the 2 possible ship choices from that movie (probably wrong to do that)
#10 is the other one I don't have

  12. Avatar_12-08Pancakesthreehojos on Dec 27, 2008 08:56 AM

    OMG...

  13. FileCheeseburgerbfogartyjr on Dec 27, 2008 09:18 AM

    Looking for #6. Any salt?

    [11] TG sent

  14. FileClockJewelia on Dec 27, 2008 09:20 AM

    That was frustrating!

    [11] Thanks for the salt!

    # 5 is a bioship
    #10 is from a scary 1979 movie

  15. FileCheeseburgerHrothgar24 on Dec 27, 2008 09:28 AM

So how do we "fit" #11, as I believe I have the movie (tineye found it), but not a good ship name that fits?

    And thanks [13] and [14]

  16. FileCheeseburgerbfogartyjr on Dec 27, 2008 09:43 AM

    Finally got it.
    #11 is spelled correctly
#17 has a double letter at the end

  17. FilePancakesScrappyChiq_n_Husband on Dec 27, 2008 09:44 AM

[16] TY!, as if this wasn't challenging enough

  18. FilePancakeshatemachine on Dec 27, 2008 09:50 AM

Have I said this yet? BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  19. Avatar_12-08Pancakesthreehojos on Dec 27, 2008 09:55 AM

Finally got it after an hour...
Wow - tough to begin with but with the grid problems this was nearly impossible!
    Tineye definitely needed!

  20. Phi3CornPhilana on Dec 27, 2008 10:12 AM

Thanks for the help, everyone, on the worst puzzle ever!

I really don't understand the ratings. How can this puzzle have only 3 stars for difficulty? Who would rate it other than a 5?

  21. FilePancakesCWarrior on Dec 27, 2008 10:12 AM

While we're complaining about this one ... the image selection is not consistent. Some are screen caps. Some look like fan art images. This would be tough if all of the images were great, but they're not.

In particular, I can't believe they're aren't better images out there for #14 or #18.

And I'm a huge scifi fan ... I'm not complaining about the theme, just joining the chorus on how it was executed.

  22. FileEggj15bell on Dec 27, 2008 10:25 AM

I don't watch this stuff. At all.

    I need help with:
    #5
    #7
    #12
    #13 - found it, won't fit
    #14
    #17 - found it, won't fit

despite the comments on #13 and #17 I still can't make them fit.

anyone want to swap info please TG me. or give me some salt please.

wish this was about jefferson starship songs.

  23. FileEggj15bell on Dec 27, 2008 10:29 AM

dang. when I posted a comment my answers disappeared. of all hypercrosses!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. FileClockmust67 on Dec 27, 2008 10:29 AM

  25. FileEggj15bell on Dec 27, 2008 10:35 AM

    [24] think it's from a '79 disney movie

  26. FileClockmust67 on Dec 27, 2008 10:42 AM

[25] Thanks! Got it. Too bad this puzzle is broken, otherwise it might have been a good one.

  27. FileEggj15bell on Dec 27, 2008 11:00 AM

    aaaarrrrrgggg.

is 13 spelled wrong with a double letter at the end?

    [27] And who approved it?

  29. FileEggj15bell on Dec 27, 2008 12:33 PM

    think I found #7

filled in with help. bless you!!!!!!! :)

this is the most random hyper yet.

I have no compunction in giving anyone all the answers. Just TG me.

  30. FileEggj15bell on Dec 27, 2008 01:48 PM

lol! when I come back to look at this one again just to see if I had too much space between my ears and imagined it, some of the answers have the correct spelling but the grid has the wrong spelling. wait. what did I just type. aaaaaccccckkkkk. who's on first?

    pfffftttttt!!!

  31. FileEggRPardoe on Dec 27, 2008 06:56 PM

Whoa...bad, bad puzzle that should have been rejected, not unfeatured.

Words hit, but don't cross. (13 and 17)
And one cross is inconsistent (I one way, S the other way) (11 and 17)

  32. New_scout_logoCheeseburgerscoutmom on Dec 27, 2008 06:54 PM

Awful, terrible, horrible, no good, very bad...

And I LOVE sci fi! But this puzzle? Ugh!
    Poorly done!

  33. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on Dec 27, 2008 06:55 PM

    Three strikes...you're out!

    Image recognition puzzle....strike one
    Spelling errors .... strike two
    Grid design errors....strike three

How did this ever get published????

  34. FileCheeseburgerslokay on Dec 27, 2008 06:57 PM

    Quality control???

  35. My-icon-largeSailboatTheRizz on Dec 27, 2008 09:31 PM

I've got everything but #14 ... any salt?

  36. FileEggRPardoe on Dec 27, 2008 10:12 PM

[35] Original Star Trek, Cloaking Device

  37. My-icon-largeSailboatTheRizz on Dec 27, 2008 10:20 PM

[36] D'oh! I should have realized it was a Trek ship from the design.

    Thanks for the help!

  38. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Dec 27, 2008 11:30 PM

    OMG. What an amazing mess.

Okay, lemme at least move some words around so the grid works...

  39. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Dec 27, 2008 11:58 PM

Well... at least the grid works now... but, LOL, editing the words moved them around so now all the clue numbers referred to in this thread are different :) You'd think I'd know better, but I was too eager to correct the grid. I totally should have written the old numbers down before I edited this. Anyway... here are the OLD numbers people asked about:

    3, 5, 7, 10, 11, 12, 14

If someone would TG me with the correct OLD answers for those numbers, I'll edit them to be those same new numbers, so the thread, at least, makes sense.

LOL, Jeez, what a mess. But... it kinda makes that OPERA/Cleopatra puzzle look better, though, don't it? :)

  40. Phi3CornPhilana on Dec 28, 2008 04:40 AM

    [39] Done.

  41. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Dec 28, 2008 08:23 PM

    [40] Thanks, Philana.

Okay, all: the grid works correctly, and the clue numbers are the same as the old ones, so all previous comments makes sense.

  42. FileTomatoSuperSlug on Dec 28, 2008 08:29 PM

[41]Arrgh, you changed it while I was working on it

  43. FileEggj15bell on Dec 28, 2008 08:38 PM

whomever solves this from here on be very happy Arnott fixed it.

  44. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Dec 29, 2008 11:17 PM

[42] Weird. Just changing the order of the clues should not have messed you up. Hmmm...

    Anyway, sorry, Slug.

  45. FilePepperChupper on Aug 21, 2009 08:15 AM

If anyone is still working on this puzzle and has read this far down in the comments and still needs help, the final correct answers in the final order can be found here:
