One answer is misspelled, exactly as you think it might be (the clue accurately leads to this wrong spelling).
More specifically, #10 uses the common misspelling...common enough that it is slowly becoming accepted...shame on Americans...

Seeing as my MW dictionary shows this spelling as "late" as 1800, I think it's time to let go. ; )
That's true, why bother with standardized spelling at all? I'm sure they'll know what you mean...
[4] Isn't this primarily a UK vs USA distinction? I don't use analyse or colour, and I don't sit in the centre of that piece of furniture. Of course, I can't spel mi way out of a papre bagg, so I'm really the wrong person to consult.

I think the first comment is referring to longue....longue means 'long' in French.
