The clues for this puzzle were supposed to be in a very specific order, but the hypercross system kept rearranging them. Sorry everybody!

The order is pretty clear when you get it. I'm only missing the baby, and I know part of the answer

Nice!! Loved #3 - perhaps the funniest word in the English language.

The order should be:
#1 - Baby on the couch
#2 - The additions
#3 - The tax forms
#4 - The other mathy one (not the additions)
#5 - The oddly shaped building
#6 - The coin
#7 - The guys in suits
#8 - The dumbbells
#9 - The dog
#10 - The screwdriver
Hope that helps!

Again, the order is pretty straightforward, but I am truly stuck on the infant.

The baby one is probably easier if you've had your own kids. That's my daughter BTW. :)

Got them without the listing - Once I got a few answers, the theming was obvious, although the baby had to wait for last (since I had to see what was missing).
For the baby, perhaps the first round of jacks might be a better clue?

I got tripped up because of the way the last 3 deviated from the pattern established by the first 7. Just goes to show ya what happens when you assume...

[33] Clue #1 doesn't really have a "math" answer.
Clue #5 does. (Never thought college algebra would come in handy again!) We spent lots of time figuring these out.
Clue #6 - What's another name for a combo like this?

Meh. Should have all used the same form of the theme, rather than switching, as between the baby and the building.
Nice idea, but it needed more development to unify around the theme.

I have all the answers (I think) but it won't take it. I would never have gotten the baby... bachelors don't deal with stuff like that. Only the jacks answer saved me (but I might have misspelled it).

[50] Yeah, it's a word I'd probably used or heard only a few times in my life. Then I had kids, and for a while used it several times a day. Now my youngest is 3, so I don't use it any more, but I still remember it!

boo, hiss. I like the theming, but the execution has so many styles of numerals that it was really hard where there were alternates that fit. For example, I had 'unique' as well. It fit the grid, clue and theme. Perhaps if the grid had been chosen to exclude that otherwise fitting answer, I might have been in the bonus.
wmshub
Posted on Fri Apr 04, 2008 09:42 AM |
Yeah, sorry about "unique", I didn't realize it fit until somebody brought it up here. I tried to make sure there wasn't much ambiguity - note all the intersections in the center of the puzzle - but this one snuck in.
As for the different styles, there are really only two, although some answers fit both styles so that is like a third style. Probably I should have stuck with one or the other.

#1 with the additions has me stumped.
I know it's the second answer if arranged in sequence, but can't think of what fits.
Salt please?
Thanks

[60]
** It's NOT:
the baby
the couch
what's above the baby
what's below the baby
what's to the left of the baby
what's to the right of the baby
what's infront of the baby
what's behind the baby
what's in the baby
what the baby is doing
what the baby is not doing
what the baby is sensing (seeing/smelling)
what the baby is not sensing (seeing/smelling)
What's left?
But its visible in the picture.

[60] To be even more clear: Imagine that the baby is a fashion model. When you look at a fashion model, what are you supposed to be paying attention to?
