hhmm, got the clues, but got no clue...anyone?

  3. FileGarlicmartinp13 on Sun May 04, 2008 07:07 PM

    3rd. Very nice puzzle.

  4. FilePumpkinBigSlick on Sun May 04, 2008 07:08 PM

    uhhhh, huh?

  5. FileGarlicmartinp13 on Sun May 04, 2008 07:08 PM

I ignored the clues in the answer box (#2). I just used everything else.

  6. BearSailboatkarp on Sun May 04, 2008 07:15 PM

[5] Does order matter? If so, what's the order?!

    Edit: Never mind.

Wow...that would have been a lot easier if the order of the clues was provided. For what it's worth I see no logical order to the clues. You've just got to randomly assemble what you have into a phrase.

  7. FileAppletwallace2003 on Sun May 04, 2008 07:13 PM

    huh? on Number 2

  8. FilePepperdajagr on Sun May 04, 2008 07:13 PM

I've got everything but the big one, and no clue how to assemble it.

  9. FileSailboatyelowflower on Sun May 04, 2008 07:14 PM

just keep putting things together until it makes sense

  10. FilePancakesMysticalmelody on Sun May 04, 2008 07:15 PM

I wish i had an order for it.... I keep trying to fit the clues together but i don't know what way... anyone wanna help me out?

  11. FilePepperdajagr on Sun May 04, 2008 07:15 PM

Okay, so...8 items can be put together 8! = 40,320 different ways. I'm going to be here a while.

  12. Avatar_profileOnionrvitale68 on Sun May 04, 2008 07:16 PM

[8] Keep sorting what you've got or take a break and watch a period film.

  13. FileClockmust67 on Sun May 04, 2008 07:23 PM

    #1 I can't read much any help?
I got it now what does it make?

  14. FileGarlicHope2002 on Sun May 04, 2008 07:19 PM

Yeah, seems like more than just a few to try.

  15. BearSailboatkarp on Sun May 04, 2008 07:17 PM

[11] Get some of the major words assembled and do a google search with the country represented by the flag. That should get it for you.

  16. Avatar_profileOnionrvitale68 on Sun May 04, 2008 07:17 PM

[10] It was "the word". Now look at your words and listen to "the word".

  17. FilePepperpepperhead on Sun May 04, 2008 07:18 PM

humm kilgore i used to think you were all right, now I wonder..:^) NO salt here guys

  18. FileRaspberryMarkel on Sun May 04, 2008 07:19 PM

    Very clever.

  19. FileGarlicHope2002 on Sun May 04, 2008 07:19 PM

Found a tv show, but it's not a film and doesn't fit

  20. FileTomatobcgrote on Sun May 04, 2008 07:19 PM

I did not know that! Kewl!

  21. FileGarlicHope2002 on Sun May 04, 2008 07:22 PM

    Blah

  22. FileRadishvandy on Sun May 04, 2008 07:22 PM

Is this love Kilgore night? Cryptopix and Hypercross.

  23. Avatar_profileOnionrvitale68 on Sun May 04, 2008 07:23 PM

The hand your dealt in #2 is important.

  24. OctopusPeppercomishcraig on Sun May 04, 2008 07:23 PM

I solved the crypto pretty quick, and I've got all but #2. Not coming up with any ideas.

  25. FilePumpkinBigSlick on Sun May 04, 2008 07:24 PM

[15] Thanks karp! That did it for me.

  26. Ronald-mcd-3EggKilgore on Sun May 04, 2008 07:26 PM

[17] ah, c'mon, pepper, gotta change up the puzzles every now and then :)

as to the order of the words, it seems when I created the hypercross I had no control over the order of the clues. That said, 3 of them are in order...

  27. OctopusPeppercomishcraig on Sun May 04, 2008 07:29 PM

[15] is right. I didn't have a clue that I was doing anything right and then Google showed me something. Got it...#66.

  28. FilePepperpepperhead on Sun May 04, 2008 07:29 PM

[26] yes I know ya got to keep me on my toes!! I didn't say I didn't like it.

  29. FilePancakesCWarrior on Sun May 04, 2008 07:32 PM

Did anybody else notice the heart and diamond in clue #2 are black? Is that significant?

  30. Donimo_pirate_beatlesEggDonimo on Sun May 04, 2008 07:36 PM

I solved the long one with a search of the clues, without any of the words. But it's probably easier the other way.

  31. Img_0189Egggst on Sun May 04, 2008 07:36 PM

    Pretty neat after all!

  32. FilePeppercyncat on Sun May 04, 2008 07:40 PM

    I like it!

  33. FileAppleannberg on Sun May 04, 2008 07:43 PM

Splendid puzzle - and my best finish ever (10th) - no wonder I Love it!

  34. FilePepperpepperhead on Sun May 04, 2008 07:51 PM

WOW , that was tricky, nice though I should have kept looking that way when I first thought of it, I still think your all right Kilgore

  35. Current.deal.avOnionmonocle on Sun May 04, 2008 07:56 PM

[15] define "major"... I don't see any words popping out as more important than the others.

  36. FileSailboatzyzzva on Sun May 04, 2008 08:06 PM

    14th. fun puzzle. thanks [5]

  37. Current.deal.avOnionmonocle on Sun May 04, 2008 08:13 PM

bah... have no idea what the 4 aces was a clue to. I didn't care for this one. I think I brought down a Google server with all my random searching.

  38. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Sun May 04, 2008 08:23 PM

Kilgore, thumbs up for writing companion puzzles. And trying something different.

  39. Captain_comicStrawberryprevis on Sun May 04, 2008 09:15 PM

You are a freaking genius!! You solved this puzzle.

You solved this puzzle in 0 seconds and were the 125th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 20 points for solving this.

0 seconds seemed like quite a long time...

  40. Ag1Potatojeep on Sun May 04, 2008 11:39 PM

Pshew, tough one. You have to get the words in the correct order. Without the "clues" in #2, I'd have never figured it out.

  41. FileOnionRickj4029 on Sun May 04, 2008 11:57 PM

    Sorry, bad is bad!

  42. FileEggplantTintin on Mon May 05, 2008 04:10 AM

    Cool idea. Thanks, Kilgore.

  43. Calvin2Sailboatrikkif on Mon May 05, 2008 04:42 AM

    that was different!

  44. GarfieldBananakmoreland on Mon May 05, 2008 04:45 AM

    strange days in deed

  45. FileSailboatIlta on Mon May 05, 2008 07:45 AM

[29] No, only the hand itself. That confused me for a while too.

Kilgore, I love the idea, but without orders on the mini-clues I think most of us just googled around from the seemingly random images in the final clue. Which defeats what you were trying to do.

It seems silly to say, but it's often forgotten: people don't know the answer beforehand, like the designer does, and that must be accounted for. Seeing eight words that line up somehow, sounding sort of like they actually do, is daunting, especially when the final phrase is something a little obscure (that is, they wouldn't think of it right away, unlike your cryptopix which is a common phrase, and only has three elements besides). Slamming them together randomly is not fun, at least for me.

But still, the clues were well-executed of themselves. I only had to look up the car. Like Arnott, I applaud anything that tries to stretch the limits. And I look forward to version 2.0!

  46. Affable_reaperRocketAureliano on Mon May 05, 2008 09:27 AM

interesting new approach, but i found the lack of order on the mini clues a bit annoying. overall, thought it was an interesting meld of different puzzles. i look forward seeing more of these in the future as the bugs get worked out

  47. Ronald-mcd-3EggKilgore on Mon May 05, 2008 10:15 AM

    [46] et al-

Yeah the ordering thing was a difficult item to incorporate. I felt if I ordered them it would just be a race to the end. At first I did label the first and last pictures so at least you would know how it began and ended. However, I took that out because I thought the clues were so easy that maybe time should be taken to figure out the saying -hence the clues.

    [29] 2.0 - I like the sound of that!

  48. Sc002a57f6Pumpkinrunart on Mon May 05, 2008 03:38 PM

wow, got it in a few seconds. sang this song in my 7th grade play and have always loved it.

  49. Avatar_profileWatermelondaedae on Mon May 05, 2008 06:44 PM

That was ridiculous... I got all the clues except for the car pretty quickly, but it was a lucky Google for #2.

  50. Bp3Raspberryendel3 on Tue Sep 21, 2010 09:48 AM

Meh, no problem solving, but not a big fan....
