Unfeatured Fun!

Aaron, do we get a published puzzle credit for unfeatured puzzles?

Not sure what you mean by credit. You don't get any points until 100 solves.

[2] In our profile, it says "published puzzles" with a number by it.

If you go to Arnott's profile, you can see that his unfeatured puzzle is shown under his published puzzles. -well you could - it's the tanga image on March 20th.

Cool!
More puzzles...mmmm mmmm good!

Can an unfeatured puzzle still eventually become a featured puzzle? therefore one day collecting more points.

What about puzzles that have been sitting in your unpublished section for a while? Will they be reconsidered?

[5] I'll second that. The unfeatured puzzles so far have been just as good as the featured ones.

[6] I would expect this not to be feasible, as people will have already solved it. Would they then solve it again to get more points? Wouldn't they have an unfair advantage in competition for the 10PM(eastern) bonus point rush?

[9] yeah, forgot about the whole bonus points to the first 100 solvers thing. I never waste my time waiting up for that. I wonder how a puzzle gets picked to be featured? I saw one that was "just butter" once, that was awful and it was featured.

unfeatured puzzles will not be featured later as people will already know the answer

and yes, eventually all of the old puzzles will either be published in the unfeatured section or rejected

I'd rather see everything be "Featured" one way or another. Maybe have three OWW puzzles every night. Don't worry about Hard or Easy, since that's subjective (and often wrong :) ) anyway. And no one feels slighted that their puzzle got relegated to the "back page". :)

[10]
Back when the butter puzzle was published [in the dark ages] there was only ONE puzzle published each night (*gasp* Horrors!!). There were no categories of Hard/Easy Featured/Unfeatured - It defaulted to "featured" when they started up Tanga 2.0 - as did all the puzzles published up through a couple of weeks ago.

Aaron -
The hypercross is my favorite puzzle to create - might we see unfeatured hypercrosses as well?? I actually have many of them that have yet to be published.
I look forward to your reply!

[12] 3 puzzles a night - interesting. That made me think of something:
They post 3 HOOWs, 3EOOWs, 3 Crptos, 3 Hyper and you HAVE to PICK one of the 3 in each category to solve and that's all you get to solve -you can't solve the other 2. Only people choosing those get to solve them. Mua ha ha ha.

OR, on a completely different line of thinking, - maybe once a puzzle has, say, 500 solvers, another puzzle is automatically posted! That way puzzles could be posted at any time the counter hits 500. The timing of that could be random enough to allow people to solve at different times than a standard 'post' time and therefore open more poeple to potentially getting top 100 tanga points. This would also encourage more people to solve as you know you need 500 answers. I kind of like that idea!

Yes. Hypercrosses will be Unfeatured, as well.

That's great! Thanks Aaron for your reply. :)

By giving points based on number of solves would seems to favor easy puzzles? How about points for number of people tried to solve?

Will we be notified by e-mail if one of our puzzles goes into the unfeatured section?

[18] But it also discourages puzzles that are unsolvable.

You will be notified, but as of now, only by Tangagram.

[21] Can you add an account setting wherein you select your preferred method of notification on things? (There's already a spot where you can enter an email address, choose to get/not get the newsletter, and choose to get/not get product notifications. Just looking for another option on that screen. I, personally, prefer Tangagram notification for Tanga items. Truth be told, I don't check the email associated with this account all that often. Others, I'm assuming, check their email more frequently than tanga (blasphemy! :) ) so, they might wish the notification to be the other way around.)

[15] I like idea #2 as I am never able to be one of the first to solve a puzzle due to timing.

Unfeatured Fun is good.

[11] Question: If something gets marked as rejected, is it possible for the creator to simply modify it and have it back in the "to be reviewed" queue? Or does it need to be resubmitted and issued a new ID?

[21] [22] keeping with what a lot of "message boards" do... I'd like an option to get notified via email when I get a Tangagram (which is just another name for "Personal Message" or "Instant Message" depending on what forum package is installed"). Then "all things Tanga" would just be Tangagrams and those that want an email can choose to get it. But this really has nothing to do with Unfeatured Fun. :)

It would be nice to know if our submitted puzzles have been looked at or if they have been rejected ... even nicer to know why they are rejected.

[25] They're working on a moderating system

Why were the Unfeatured Puzzles dropped?
