Sounds neat, but unfortunately not available in Massachusetts
Have never done that! That sounds really cool though.
I did have a cleaning lady for about a year once...never really got used to having a stranger in my house on a regular basis so I had to go back to doing it myself. You might like it though. It does save a lot of time.
When our first was born we started doing what we called "bowl of dinner" which included rice or pasta with canned chicken from costco which is precooked and only needs to be reheated. Adding a simple flavor packet like kung pow or tomato sauce, etc ,is easy and there's only 2 dishes in the end. I cook alot at work so we never had too much of a change.
Just nap when the baby does and you'll be fine. Besides, you can sleep when you're dead right?
we have something nifty like it in town called "Thyme for Dinner" but i have never tried it because it is WAY too pricey. your service looks ALOT cheaper than ours though!
When I had my first child people kept bringing food over. I didn't cook at all for the first month. I think fact that I couldn't get up made them all feel sorry for me. With my second I got a few casseroles. Of course I ended up BACK in the hospital after a week. Then I think I got some guilt lasagna.
I really don't miss the nights of walking back and forth and crying with the baby because you are so tired.
Too bad this is so far away, I'd love to try it. I can't outsource any of my life. No one else does it right. ("It" being pretty much anything other people do for me.)
I have a local dairy deliver Milk, Bread, Produce etc.. And I love it! The items are more expensive, but I'm actually saving money by not going to the store and buying all the other crap I don't need while I'm there!

This particular franchise may not be in Massachusettes, but I'd be surprised if there wasn't a similar service available.
We have something like that around here. I've never gone, but my sister-in-law and several neighbors love it. I guess it might be worth checking out. I'm all for convenience.
Why not go all the way and outsource your entire life? http://www.smartmoney.com/esquire/index.cfm?Sto...
Around here they have something called "Dinner by Design" - you actually go in and make the food - but you are doing multi-meals all at once and there's no cleanup when you're done!
We've used two other services just like that. It was pretty convenient to just go in and have all the stuff prepped for you. They both had an assembly line type of environment. Once you have all the ingredients gathered, you throw it in one big bag with a label and instructions... move on the next meal. The food was pretty good because it was not like those over-processed freeze and bake things. All the ingredients were fresh and natural. It is more costly than getting/doing it all yourself... but for convenience food, it was good. and still cheaper/better than going and picking up some junk. $35 per person for a week of dinners? $5 a person/dinner? that sounds pretty good.
[9] I just read that article... amazing, I loved it!

I’m giving Dinners Ready a spin. It’s not terribly expensive, about $35 per person per week of prepared dinners. (of course, you could cook your own for much cheaper, but with the baby, I’m feeling lazy)
Anyone have any experiences with services like that where you “outsource” part of your normal routine/chores to others?
