less then 100 solves

Sailboat trumanjJul 14, 200841 commentsViews: 75

In honor of Tada see

http://www.tanga.com/forum/blogs/1645-I_need_19_more_solves_

I have compiled a list of puzzles that have less then 100 solves. this means if you solve them you get 3 points plus the leaderboard points.

plus the puzzle creators will finally get points for their work!

Feel free to add to the list as new puzzles get published or if you come across another one that does not have a 100. there are a lot more out there I just thought this would get us started.

thanks all!!!

    Excellent idea! Thanks, trumanj.

Now let's all get to work for those little lost puzzles. Their creators need some love...and points.

    Great job, trumanj!

Well, other than hypercrosses, I have solved every single puzzle. (and I am working through the hypers at a rate of about 10 per day), so I can't help much here. (although if any hypers are under 100 solves, I'll get to them eventually :-)

This was a great idea. I did find out I had solved many already, but I will slog through them all to help out as much as I can.

http://web.tanga.com/puzzles/2651-6-21-2008 I just was the 100th solver. That one is done.

Here is one of mine with 62 solves currently...

    Go solvers! ;-)

[12] It's "done?" So no one else can solve it? HA! Just kidding.

  10. FileXylophoneQurqirishDragon on Thu Aug 07, 2008 01:01 PM

[18] I think that a puzzle that has been up for less than 1 day (only 8 hours for the one you listed!) doesn't need a mention. Otherwise, we'll end up listing every puzzle that appears, and that will defeat the purpose of the thread. (for example, I was the 10th solver for one that went up an hour ago, but why list it so soon?)

Since people have different schedules / available times, I think that 2 days is a good waiting period. This way people who want hints will go back to harder ones (as I do; obviously not for hypers, however). After 2 days, most people will stop looking at puzzles (except for those trying to solve everything, but they don't need encouragement to solve older puzzles!), and so that seems like a good time frame.

    Other opinions?

Edit: since I posted this, the link was altered in the post I referenced. The one it now points to has over 4000 solves (unless he changed it again since I made this edit)

I'm sure there will be other opinions. Everyone has an opinion and everyone has to complain about something.

    Hard OWW
    http://www.tanga.com/puzzles/3647-8-23-2008
...and it was a featured one so I *think* there still might be bonus points available. I know I've gotten bonus points more than 24hrs after publish but I'm not sure how long you can still get them

  16. FilePancakeshatemachine on Thu Sep 04, 2008 11:05 AM

[26] Bonus points are probably available. 4 1/2 days after it was published I got bonus points.

You solved this puzzle in 4 days, 12 hours, and 11 minutes and were the 83rd Tanga member to solve it. You earned 21 points for solving this.

  17. FileXylophoneQurqirishDragon on Fri Sep 05, 2008 07:42 PM

One interesting thing I discovered accidentally- if a featured puzzle is more than 1 day old, but has less than 100 solves, then you can view the solution and still get the bonus points! You don't get the puzzle points, only the bonus ones- for example, if you are #90 to solve it, you only get 11 points, not 14 (3 for more than 1 day old + 11 bonus)
That's a bug that needs to be fixed. I'd say that no bonus points should be available once the solution can be viewed, even if you don't view it, but that's just my opinion.

    [28] that is funny.

will take you to the unfeatured puzzles with the fewest number of solves...

there are about 240 puzzles with fewer than 100 solves...

I've got a few puzzles that are on the cusp of a hundred boundary ...

Maybe now that there are fewer unfeatured puzzles, some people might go back and try and solve some of these.

  23. FilePancakesCWarrior on Wed Sep 24, 2008 03:40 PM

I went through the list and solved a few of the backlog ... I'm shocked how many good puzzles are in this thread.

The unfeatured archive is just bigger than I usually care to keep up with, but this thread helps highlight the ones I should check out.

My son would appreciate a few more solves on this one:

I've got two really close to the threshold ...

http://www.tanga.com/puzzles/3826-9-12-2008 (Salt ... Julie Andrews used it).
