[8] The product description is often wrong on Tanga, depending on where they copy the information. I noticed that the data given is for the 1st edition, but I'm wanting to get a definite answer from someone at Tanga. Many times in the past the description is for an early edition but the item for sale is actually the latest edition.
Funny... Just played a game of Campaign Manager by the same guys who designed this one. My wife and I really enjoy it, but have not tried 1960. It's tempting, but 90 minutes playing time is too long. That's why I picked this one up. Just finished a 60 minute game... It's not dripping with theme, but it does take you there for a misting of theme...
Doubt I'll pick this up as shipping drops it into the "not special" deal..
That's annoying... The sale usually only lasts a few hours before it's sold out. They just copy and paste from BGG without verifiying? If they want my money, they need to make it clear 1st or 2nd. It makes a difference between a pass and a sale!
I have Campaign Manager and 1960 The Making of a President. They both play very differently even though the target for both is electoral votes. 1960 has a good quality board, pieces, and cards. My friend and I had to flip a coin to see who got to play Nixon. I lost and had to play as the pretty boy.
We messed up the first time we played as we didn't understand the last part of the game, but it's fun and takes a good bit of strategy and planning. I tried to kill with the big states, but end up being overwhelmed by too many smaller states that added up quick. True to reality, they didn't get to kick Dick Nixon around anymore. The only downside is that it's just two players, but worth the $30 especially if you are into history/political stuff.
Shocking that it's not sold out after this many hours. This is a well-loved game. I think Tanga has dropped the ball by not specifying the edition. Come on guys--you know better!
I guess you could order it with the instructions of canceling the order if it's 1st edition? Once they get into the office, the daily deal will change to something else.
[10] I don't think it's a lot of big differences. Some rules are cleaned up, some graphics are more legible and you get some more components. I'd probably go ahead and buy a 1st edition if it were cheaper. but at around $30 with shipping I want the latest edition
1) Tricky Dick: The text: "No rest cubes are gained for the retrieved card." was added to the end.
2) New Nixon: Debate icon was changed from Civil Rights to Economy.
3) Henry Luce: "any region" was changed to "any single region".
The board got the enlarged electoral values
The rules got:
updated cover 2nd edition tag
all board shots showing electoral values
Pages:
4) reference to "Get Out The Vote" phase removed, bracketed text removed from Support Checks paragraph.
13) Gathering Momentum section revised to deal with possible ineligible cards for Campaign Strategy
14) "two or more cards" replaces "two cards"
15) instruction to discard Debate Event cards (under Debate Events) removed
16) "Each player may resolve their cards in any order desired." added to Campaign Strategy section
17) Unpledged Electors section reworded, correct Nixon's Pledge illustration added
[17] since I haven't played the game, can someone explain does that make the second printing radically different than the first edition? Or is it just minor improvements?
Kinda amazed there are copies still left. Expected this to sell out fast. Seemed like a good price point for a game liked by many. Maybe the 2nd edition confirmation will help these move.
1st or 2nd edition?

Om nom nom
Yeah, this will be sold out by morning.
This game was reviewed in the Winter 2008 issue of Gamers Alliance Report. You can find the review here:

[3] I sent you a tangagram in regards to splitting shipping, phrosbyte. Let me know!
[3] Hope you can get it, but ping me before the Fall Board Game Hoopla may be we can trade or catch it in the math trade.
Just can't seem to get enough momentum (*cough*) to ever finish a game.
first edition? it lists it as published in 2007. the 2nd edition was published in 2008.
maybe a misprint on the info?

Is there a big difference in editions of this game? Should I not buy a certain edition?

[18] According to [16], it's all pretty minor.
I would buy, if I could be sure that it was 2nd edition. I'd be disappointed to end up with the 1st edition for the sake of saving a few dollars.
Well I have Tanga credit so I'm gonna order with a note to cancel if it's 1st edition. Thanks, all!
**ITS THE SECOND EDITION**
I just put in a support ticket and got an official response!
This is the second edition!
ORDER NOW!!!
[22] SOLD!
Thanks for the info!
Sold. The Last Grenadier in Burbank, CA is selling the 2nd Edition for $50 + enormous CA sales tax so that'd be like $55
SOLD! THANKS TANGA!
Anyone know how complicated the game is? (I can't go to the manufacturer's site or board game geek at work - thanks blocking software).
I would like to play something like this with my wife, but she don't go for super complicated games.
Kinda amazed there are copies still left. Expected this to sell out fast. Seemed like a good price point for a game liked by many. Maybe the 2nd edition confirmation will help these move.
STOLE...I mean, PURCHASED! :)
Anyone in Utah County interested in joining up for an order? Send me a TG.
Thanks Tanga!
Great price, great game.
