I've been looking for a some inexpensive rings lately, so I'm glad I was able to snag one of these. ^_^

It's a decent ring. The "Karma" is written in mandarin Chinese transliterated from Sanskrit, and is an archaic translation in case anyone is curious. It isn't Japanese.

Shame I let my daughter play with it... now my ring is no more.

Bought my husband this as a wedding band since he lost the real one, and now he lost this one. I will try one more time b/c he liked it so much.

[4] I'm holding out by avoiding any writing (even Kanji) on a substitute wedding band. Just a little cheesy for me. I almost bit for the "I Love You" one, tho, but it finally sold out.

Kiss my a**, on a little cheesy for a 'substitute' wedding band. We like it. Karma has always been our thing anyway. BIG believers in what goes around comes around.

[4] It's kinda scary that your husband lost this ring given that the inscription is "karma." What does that mean for the marriage? :)

  8. Avatar_profileWatermelonsdc100 on Sat Mar 27, 2010 10:42 PM

[2] No, the inscription is not in Mandarin Chinese since there is no such written language. Mandarin is a spoken dialect, just like Cantonese. Mandarin is the official dialect of mainland China, while Cantonese is spoken in Hong Kong and most Chinatowns in the West. The written language, however, is mostly identical across all dialects. There are, however, two written forms: Traditional and Simplified. The former is more stylized and complex. I believe the Simplified style has only been used for a few decades. I don't read Chinese but do recognize the inscription to be Traditional Chinese. It is definitely not Kanji. While Kanji shares some characters with Chinese, its characters are generally much less ornate, thus simpler.

lolz this is not chinese for karma. it means Capricornus the zodiac sign and its even written backwards with the wrong character for it.

Some of the posts in here look promising until they started heading in different directions. Is there a consensus on whether my Karma will be affected whether it is in Japanese or Chinese?

I ordered one of these, but although labeled 9.5, it was sized at 10.5. Tanga told me tough luck. This ring lacks positive karma

i got the one that says success, if that changes anything.

  14. Avatar_profileOrangeLJW on Sun May 30, 2010 11:24 PM

It says "dumb gaijin will buy anything" in Kanji.
And I'll bet some jackass already picked up the design from the ring to have it tattooed.
