Received this one last time they had this deal. My father-in-law loves the game and it's the one he asks for every time he comes over or a holiday or when we go there. It's especially cool to play with non-gamers as all they need to do is set up the British side cards and move the mosquito, so there's not as much to be involved with. Then, you switch sides and they've already played the game once...
Highly recommended. Though not sure about the price..
Not sure why this is so much, I bought this last time and paid 34.98 after shipping. My copy smelled a bit musty still too. (This was still the second edition, it wasn't covered in mold like 1st ed, but still smelled)
Regardless of those factors, I still think this is well worth the purchase, there is A LOT of replayability and customization you can do with this. This game is truly one of a kind (unless you count duel of the giants).
Cheapest I could find the (2nd edition) at is $47 with shipping. The one you got at $34 that smelled musty was probably the 1st edition without the expansions (I heard the whole lot got stored in a humid warehouse and got moldy). Think i'll go for the 2nd edition.
I think the earlier version in the link above was the first edition (which might explain the musty smell). A few of the games put out by zman at the time had a musty moldy smell, and there was a known issue with this game and also 1960: Making of The President.
Also, it doesn't seem to mention the 9 expansions, which is the other difference between first and second edition, so that might explain the price difference.
I bought this the first time around. It is definitely the second edition (was the first time as well) … includes the 9 expansions, does not have the moldy smell (that only effected the early 1st editions, Z-man had a replacement policy, I don’t remember the details but he made sure everyone was happy).
I’m not crazy about the game play but lots of people like it so do your homework and judge for yourself. One thing that’s not in dispute, the components are absolutely fantastic.
I believe everyone is referring to the very similar title, Mold in the Dark Board Game, which is much less expensive. It also had expansions, including Green, Black & Penicillium.
I think I should have bought this in March for the blow-out price, that was a pretty good deal (up for 48 hours, too!).
I'm not really sure how much (or if) I want this game.

The moldy smell by the way should not have affected the newer version.

[21] You are cool.
Here it's listed as a two player game, but BGG has it as 1-2 players. Does it come with solitaire rules, and if so are they any good?
[13] I think you're confusing that older edition with the Pandemic mini-game expansion.

I am sitting here lol at [13]'s userid. Lord of the Pants, Master of your Domain.
I think that last part is a question.
