It took you 3 minutes and 8 seconds to solve this puzzle.
You were the 1st Tanga member to solve this puzzle.
Average solve time: 3 minutes and 8 seconds.
Median solve time: 3 minutes and 8 seconds.

Maybe those 'Pirate Master' episodes are rubbing off. :)

    # It took you 5 minutes and 29 seconds to solve this puzzle.
    # You were the 2nd Tanga member to solve this puzzle.

D'oh! I probably would have gotten this faster if I'd scrolled all the way down to see the caption. :)

  3. Avatar_profilePearhld1970 on Jul 09, 2007 07:08 PM

I am thinking based on the theme, that I am not uspposed to use all of the pictures/words. Only SOME of them have something in common? Is that accurate?

  4. Avatar_profilePancakesrandomcyn on Jul 09, 2007 07:08 PM

    # It took you 4 minutes and 54 seconds to solve this puzzle.
    # You were the 3rd Tanga member to solve this puzzle.

I only got a bit over half the words but it was enough to get the answer.

  5. Avatar_profilePearCoyotek4 on Jul 09, 2007 07:12 PM

[3] All the words and pictures are used. The pictures have one purpose, the words another. Hope that's not too salty.

  6. FileStrawberryPenh on Jul 09, 2007 07:12 PM

[3] One set have something in common with each other, the other set doesn't.

  7. Avatar_profilePearhld1970 on Jul 09, 2007 07:24 PM

I have 6 of the seven. Can't figure out another word that fits for 'clothesline'

  8. FileTomatoMurdoctor on Jul 09, 2007 07:25 PM

[7] That's not a clothesline. It's a particular board game, and those are the pieces in the foreground and background.

I've got the commonality for all of the word clues, and I'm trying to "apply" that to the picture clues, but getting nothing.

  9. Avatar_profilePearhld1970 on Jul 09, 2007 07:28 PM

[7] How am I supposed to tell that it IS a boardgame...jeez. I cannot make out anything from that picture. David-- can you shed some light on that picture in the upper left?

    EDIT: Nevermind, I got it.

  10. Avatar_profilePearhld1970 on Jul 09, 2007 07:31 PM

    # It took you 28 minutes and 31 seconds to solve this puzzle.
    # You were the 10th Tanga member to solve this puzzle.

A very rare top 10. Clever puzzle, David.

my question exactly! - so what IS it?

  12. 500full-wallace-_-gromit-in-the-wrong-trousers-screenshotAppleDan999 on Jul 09, 2007 07:36 PM

We have an extremely convincing, appropriate, 7-letter answer that is never the less wrong. Had to make a wild guess for "none the richer" which may be wrong - is it supposed to be obvious?

  13. Avatar_profilePearhld1970 on Jul 09, 2007 07:37 PM

Well, all I can say is that there are 7 pictures and 7 words and that's no coincidence. After sorting through the other six, I guessed at the board game based on the length of the word needed for the picture.

  14. Avatar_profilePearhld1970 on Jul 09, 2007 07:38 PM

[12] There is a band with that in their name and Google was my friend also.

  15. FilePepperdajagr on Jul 09, 2007 07:39 PM

    [12] Google on the phrase.
[11] I'm trying to figure out how to salt this without being too blatant.

  16. 500full-wallace-_-gromit-in-the-wrong-trousers-screenshotAppleDan999 on Jul 09, 2007 07:41 PM

OK, got it. We came up with some convincing alternative words which led us to a "better" (though wrong) answer.

  17. Avatar_profilePearhld1970 on Jul 09, 2007 07:42 PM

    [11] Think capture the flag.

  18. PirateleadfootPumpkinleadfoot on Jul 09, 2007 07:42 PM

oh, I think I recognize the picture
hmmm now what to do with it?

  19. FileDuckiedavey3 on Jul 09, 2007 07:42 PM

Boardgame? I thought it was a bathtub with towels hanging from a bar. LOL!

  20. FilePepperdajagr on Jul 09, 2007 07:43 PM

    [16] Dan999
I'm curious about the alternatives you came up with. If you're on BGG, can you GM me (name's the same) there?

  21. Avatar_profilePearhld1970 on Jul 09, 2007 07:46 PM

[19] I know! For about 15 minutes, I thought it was a clothesline.

  22. FileOrangeleukothea on Jul 09, 2007 07:50 PM

I thought the upper left picture was a doorway in the Forbidden City in Beijing, slightly open so we could see the courtyard beyond. Wow, completely wrong.

  23. FilePepperdajagr on Jul 09, 2007 07:54 PM

Okay, looks like I need to apologize for that picture in particular. Guess I'm familiar enough with that board game to figure it from that shot, but those who are less familiar with it are having a lot of trouble.

Sorry, terrible representation abruptly turns experience glaringly odd. (At first.)

  24. FileEggmnemonica on Jul 09, 2007 07:54 PM

    (13) was enough salt for me; thanks. (I still don't know the name of the Clothesline Game.)

  25. FilePotatoDevin8r on Jul 09, 2007 07:57 PM

I think the top left picture's lack of clarity is miner, I mean minor.

  26. FileSailboatIlta on Jul 09, 2007 07:59 PM

    [25] hahahahahaha

  27. FileDuckiedavey3 on Jul 09, 2007 08:02 PM

    * It took you 27 minutes and 57 seconds to solve this puzzle.
    * You were the 32nd Tanga member to solve this puzzle.

Tough one, but alot like some of the older tanga puzzles. Too bad the boardgame picture wasn't a bit clearer.

    Well done dajagr!

  28. FilePearsabbath on Jul 09, 2007 08:02 PM

Wow, way to post incomprehensible images in the upper left.

  29. FilePearDubStar on Jul 09, 2007 08:02 PM

Is the picture of the game a Major problem for everyone?

    OK-it was lame ... i know

  30. FileSailboatIlta on Jul 09, 2007 08:04 PM

No, 29, I'm sure everyone can Scout out the answer now. It's a well Engineered puzzle, it's true, but nothing that can't be overcome.

  31. FileGrapesxpsdude on Jul 09, 2007 08:06 PM

The game really Bombed with our group.

  32. AvatarCarrotrobrizob on Jul 09, 2007 08:25 PM

Obscure! Flawed! Ridiculously impossible! I kid.

Could use some sodium chloride here, though.

  33. Avatar_profilePearhld1970 on Jul 09, 2007 08:30 PM

[32] Geekmail me what you have and I will help.

  34. Avatar_profileAppleshoehorse on Jul 09, 2007 08:40 PM

I really enjoyed this one. I misidentified a couple of the photos wrong, but I managed to figure out where it was going.

  35. FilePearsabbath on Jul 09, 2007 08:43 PM

@#^*$ ambiguous pictures... horned owl or owl? Cobra or snake? Core or apple? Recipe or index card? Dragonfly or ¿

  36. Avatar_profileGrapesJasonLP on Jul 09, 2007 08:54 PM

    [35] 2, 1, 1, 1, 1

  37. FilePepperdajagr on Jul 09, 2007 09:01 PM

[28] How much more of an apology do you want?

  38. FilePearsabbath on Jul 09, 2007 09:03 PM

    Posted before read that.

  39. FileApplegilby123 on Jul 09, 2007 09:25 PM

Took a little NaCl to get the pic, but then managed to work it out, after a couple of wrong turns.

  40. Avatar_profileApplekswitz on Jul 09, 2007 10:14 PM

I have 13 of the 14 words I need and I know how to obtain the information I need from each word, but I'm not sure what order things go in... Numeric?? or as they appear on the puzzle?

  41. FileApplegilby123 on Jul 09, 2007 10:28 PM

[40] GM me and I'll try to give you a nudge

  42. FileApplegilby123 on Jul 09, 2007 10:51 PM

[40] GM sent...hopefully, it puts you on track. :)

  43. MeGrapesgahndalph on Jul 10, 2007 06:42 AM

I think I have all the words, and the ordering- but nothing is clicking

    NM- it clicked

  44. FileRocketBearcat89 on Jul 10, 2007 09:03 AM

I noticed the number of words vs. photos thing right away. I kept trying to use spatial relationships (words to pictures to the left, right, above, below). There was no (obvious for me) clue to point to the proper relationship. Still, it was a nice puzzle.

  45. FilePumpkinJohn on Jul 10, 2007 11:23 AM

    Genius puzzle. Loved it.

  46. FilePotatoDandelion_Wine on Jul 10, 2007 11:41 AM

    Clever puzzle.

  47. FilePlumsjlee on Jul 10, 2007 11:53 AM

[23] I don't think that the picture itself is bad, but rather the size of it. If the picture was bigger/clearer, I'm sure more people would've been able to figure out what game it was.

  48. FilePearmightyhelm on Jul 10, 2007 03:18 PM

It finally hit me. Excellent puzzle. Very clever indeed!

  49. FilePancakesArnott (Tanga Admin) on Jul 10, 2007 04:24 PM

Cool. Clever. Really liked this one.

  50. FilePepperdajagr on Jul 10, 2007 05:40 PM

(So, did anyone even notice the salt I put in #23?)

  51. AvatarCarrotrobrizob on Jul 10, 2007 05:48 PM

[50] I did. That's what got it for me.
